New normal

Mira's POV
This brings us back to the present.
Life hasn't been normal for a couple of months now.
We are now living with our new identities which Guardian Yvonne helped us forge. Braze and Kian were hit the hardest when Yvonne told them that it was best for their families to forget about them for a while.
He fed Bride's mother and Dean's grandfather a potion and instilled in them through hypnotherapy, the notion that their boys were off to study and explore foreign shores.
Our focus has been on getting rid of the dark mages lately.Keeping ourselves well hidden from the Watchers and the Darklings came next and of course, trying to get back to our roots, to Chemora.
None of the boys were able to get past the first barrier.I ended up reaching the peripherals of our mother planet, while chasing one of the Dark Mages, after it attacked us in his human form. This was a new nuisance. Even Guardian Yvonne failed to understand how they acquired such transformational powers, under the Watchers' nose.
I kept going back to Chemora from time to time, to try and see if I could get inside, but somehow, I always got chased back because those Dark Mages never let go of a single opportunity of hunting us down.
On the other hand, with every passing day, my dreams kept growing stronger. They became more and more vivid and it was almost always about my father.
" This one was tough. "
Xen dusted his hands off after we got rid of the Mage, located at the eastern cemetery.
" But we are getting professional at this... If only we could make a living out of killing these beasts... You know, like they have monster hunters and demon slayers in anime. " Kian commented while fixing his hair as we walked back to the place which we called home.
" Do we have any news about that doctor you were trying to track? " I asked Braze but he looked away and didn't answer.
I looked at Xen and Kian confused, " Why?What happened? "
Xen chuckled.
" Seems like his doctor was double timing with him. He feels embarrassed and betrayed. "
" Explain, please, " I asked, making a face.
" She had links with the Watchers but seems like she is on the run. Even the Watchers are looking for her."
" Ohhhh! Well, that seems interesting, " I curled my lips and whistled.
" One of the Watchers named Robert, was the victim of her fraud. She has been collecting blood samples from people like Brazil and him. She definitely had her own mission but nothing concrete could be found. '' Xen concluded.
It must have been George.
Xen and George had grown closer ever since Xen rescued him and his sister.
It was back in those days when we were freshly homeless and on the run.
George and his sister Rozelle had saved my life, but had fallen prey to those rogue Dark Mages after some time.
Luckily, Xen stumbled upon them and was able to rescue the two of them before they were lethally harmed by those creatures. Xen had suffered a serious gnash on his left shoulder at that time. The wound still bothered him from time to time.
Neither Rozelle nor the rest of us were in favor of trusting George afterwards. But that lad seemed determined in his gratitude and offered to help.
It seemed like he believed in what we said, though his sister thought we were only making up stories to cover up for our crimes.
We changed our location and identity after that. However, it seems like Xen still managed to keep in touch with George, despite our repeated warnings. I never complained much as time passed because George did seem to provide us with important information and we still roamed free indicating that he didn't give our secret away to the Watchers.
I only hoped for him not to be a double agent , who was waiting for the right time to nab us all.
" What about you Mira? Any development? "
Kian asked me, putting his hand around my shoulder.
It was a very awkward relationship that the four of us shared.
I could tell what the boys felt, I wasn't naive.
The jealousy oozing from their eyes and faces when one of them came closer to me or touched me in any way, was as clear as daylight. Yet, I could see the love they shared for each other. I was certain that their bond was beyond this forced proximity that our situation had forced us into. They were like brothers from different mothers and it made me envious sometimes.
" What about your mother? Could Guardian Yvonne trace her? "
Xen asked.
I wasn't exactly comfortable with that question.
Not after catching my mother in a compromising situation with him.
I was not in the slightest complaining about it. I always wanted my mother to move on. I wanted her to make friends and live her life. I wanted her to find love again. She always worked to the extent of dropping dead and I did not quite understand, until recently, that it was because she didn't want her thoughts to be idle.
It was clear that something terrible had happened between her and my father and it was also clear that she was not over him yet.
I would have been more than happy if she found her comfort in Guardian Yvonne but she definitely thought otherwise.
That day when I walked inside Guardian Yvonne's cabin, because we were in desperate need of another vial of our masking potion, I was left with my jaws open when I saw my mother kissing the man she had referred us to, a refugee.
I was actually more surprised at finding her there than watching her kiss Guardian Yvonne.
All I said was, " Mother? " But she turned around, to look at me with eyes filled with horror.
She left faster than lighting.
Both Guardian Yvonne and I ran after her.
However, we found no trace and returned empty handed.
