A friend or a foe?

" Uncle Kilian... '' Mira inches in closer with a wide smile on her face as she dried her sweat with a towel.
The workout had been intense but they definitely enjoyed it a lot.
" Yes , Mira... " He smiled at her while taking a sip of a cup of hot tea.
" Will you be visiting Guardian Yvonne ? " Mira asked, settling down in the chair beside him.
" I might. Why do you ask? " Kilian looked nonchalant.
" Ummm, nothing as such. I thought you might want to meet my mother. " She added.
" I bet I must... but it can wait. My time here is limited. I need to use it with you guys more than I need it with your mother. " He leaned forward. " I bet there might be questions that you need desperate answers to but you will not have any access to their answers except through me, for the time being at least. "
He winked at Mira and leaned back.
She needed no more green signals.
" I have been meaning to ask you about my father. Guardian Yvonne always ignores the topic and mother hasn't been very useful... "
" He was your mother's biggest mistake. It is only because you are her daughter that she bears with you when you ask her about the Dark Lord. Had it been any other person, she would not hesitate to chop off their tongue... "
" Oh! " Mira sank back in her seat. A sense of desolation sweeping over her. She had hopes in her uncle Kilian but from the way he began, she thought she might not have much chance with him as well. But surprisingly, he continued his narration.
" Once upon a time, your mother used to be our fiercest fighter and your father was a worthy rebel. He started their courtship with promises of a new future together but he lost his way soon after you were conceived. "
Kilian put his cup down and looked at Mira.
" I know it might be hard to hear things like this about a father you never met but... "
" I think I met him..." Kilian arched his eyebrows at Mira's words.
" Met him? " His voice held a tone of peaked interest.
" In my dreams... A voice has been talking to me... I am sure it is my father. But... But I want to know more about him... " Mira's voice held that shade of desperation that was mixed with excitement.
" Like? " Kilian asked.
" Like his name for a starter. Who is he? Why does everyone hate him so much? I understand he might have done bad stuff... how bad? Is it like killing and stuff? I don't understand... The way he talks with me, makes me feel there is another side to this person. "
Mira huffed in one breath.
The boys were back by then.
Their ears caught the ongoing conversation. They stood in the distance, hesitant... thinking whether or not they ought to interfere in their intimate moment.
Kilian glanced at them and waved his hand.
" Come here. " He called them aloud causing Mira to turn her head.
" Have a seat. " He asked them as they kept standing there because Mira clearly did not want them there at that moment.
" Please... sit down. Mira asked me a question. To answer that, I will need the presence of all of you... and your undivided attention. "
They looked at each other as Mira sat up properly and they turned towards Kilian as he began.
" Like I said, these are borrowed flesh and blood. My time here is limited. Do you remember the spot where we first met? "
He asked as they all nodded together.
" Well, the answer to all your questions lies there. Mira, your father wants nothing but power and to attain the climax of it, he needs what lies in the breast of this earth. Our ancestors were given a very powerful weapon that was miraculously sealed away on this earth. Roughly around the spot where we had first met and your presence around it has triggered several cosmic reactions. This is the Heartstaff. I bet you must have heard about it. They talk about its power in folklore of this earth. "
The four of them looked absolutely confused.
" Heartstaff? "
" Never heard about it. "
" A weapon? Of mass destruction? "
" Is it magical or what? "
The questions poured in rapidly and Kilian had to raise his hands.
" Wait a second. Give me your phone. "
He pulled Mira's phone with the broken screen and quickly typed something in the search engine and then turned the screen to show them the picture.
" Holy Moly... "
" The Staff of Moses... "
" Are you saying it's real? "
" Is this like the Arc of covenant? "
They leaned forward, their heads put together.
" This is the Heartstaff. Forget about the myths that you heard about it. This thing belongs to Chemora. It is believed that perhaps one of our ancestors sealed it here. Or it might have been sealed here to begin with. Nobody knows its exact location. Nobody from Chemora has had the opportunity to be born as an earthling. And definitely not all tribes together. This gathering of yours gives the perfect opportunity for power seekers like... " He turned towards Mira. " Your father, to manipulate you and seize the weapon for themselves. Every moment I stay in this flesh, it takes a toll on my soul back at Chemora. But my sole purpose for this visit is to guide you towards your destiny. The Heartstaff must be retreated. Sooner or later, all of you will start getting some sort of dream. You should not try foolishly to run behind those words or decipher its meanings. It has been and always will be about the Heartstaff. Keep working like I showed you tonight. Keep increasing your ability. You might have to fly back to those Mountains once more. Get the Heartstaff out before more Darkness envelops us from all around.
Remember not to respond to the voices that whisper in your ears. They can never be trusted. "
Kilian looked each one in their eyes and sealed his words right inside.
" Remember, half the war is won when you know your friend from your foe. "
