Chapter Two

Mira's POV
DANG!
My back was hurt badly, very bad!
I stood up as I tried to rub it with my hands.
I looked around.
Those familiar mountains were at the back.
A feeling of excited guilt choked me from the inside.
I was looking forward to what was coming next but was also a little ashamed of my actions. Would uncle Kilian be mad?
Nah! I really didn't care.
I did not dare to take the leap today to worry about him.
I was already doing that everyday.
Today would be different.
I kept walking.
The ground under my feet actually felt nice.
I took one leap after another.
My body , which always used to feel so rusty, was beginning to feel lively and light.
I laughed for the first time, or so long that I remembered.
One leap after another and I was flying across the landscape.
I lost track of time.
There was endless land in front of me and limitless things to find.
I ran and floated and jumped and fell.
Soon the landscape changed and I was crossing undulated greenlands.
My eyes danced with new found wonders and things just kept getting better and better. I forgot that I was ever sick.
However, when the day was finally coming to an end, realization set in.
With all the excitement and jumping that I did, I was feeling hungry and thirsty.
I looked around but there was nothing.
I sat down after walking around a little, my hands over my knee and slouched forward.
I told myself that I would not be crying.
I was enjoying myself.
All I needed was a little food and refreshment.
My eyes looked up towards heaven and I found a pair of eyes looking down over me.
" Ahhhhhh! " A yelled and kicked as I pushed my way back.
The last time I checked, there was no one. Where did this odd looking woman come from? Why was she staring at me like crazy?
She crawled on all fours towards me.
I backed off faster.
But she was persistent.
She kept following me around on all fours, finally grabbing my cheeks and pulling it towards herself.
" Unbelievable! "
I was fighting to get out of her grip.
" What are the odds that I would run into a dead girl in this wasteland? Oh My Stars! "
She let me go and clapped on her own cheeks.
" Why are you calling me dead? Do you think ghosts breathe? "
I felt rather offended at her allegation.
But she smirked.
" Because you are dead to the world girl. You were dead for so long..... Where are you coming from? "
She asked.
I turned around and pointed back to the mountains which were no longer visible.
She raised a brow.
" Interesting! He kept you hidden all this while? Wow! "
Right at that moment my stomach growled and she turned towards me with a twitched face.
" Don't tell me that you are hungry! "
She said with her hands over her hips.
I looked away.
" Damn " She muttered before pulling something out of her pocket and thrusting it in my mouth. She then pulled forth a bottle and made me drink from it.
" These capsules will give you energy and also satiate your hunger. It's portable and easy to carry. "
She winked.
" You can take one more if you want! " She said.
" Thanks! " I was shy but I accepted.
" Your father is going to be so happy with me when I take you to him. "
I almost choked on the water.
" My what? Father? What are you talking about? Isn't he... isn't he dead? "
This game of alive or dead was starting to get very complicated.
" Who told you that? He lost his former glory but he is alive and kicking. "
" Former glory? I thought he was an useless old man! "
It was the woman's turn to choke.
" Old man? My Lord? Well he would still pass as your older brother. I am sorry but I need to personally kick the person in his balls who is feeding you all these delusions. "
My head was no longer working.
" What about my mother? She is dead, right? I saw her graves with my own eyes! "
That was the only time that I got to go beyond the lands governed by my uncle.
The woman shrugged.
" Yeah! That b*tch is dead unless she comes walking out of those lands, just like you did. I don't know. "
She suddenly grabbed my arms.
" Okay enough questions and answers. Let's get going. I cannot see any patrolling guards. Those damned boys.
All of them ordered sanctions on me. I am apparently the most wanted.
All I did was look for myself while they fled the battle ground.
And this is how I get discriminated against and cornered.
I swear there will come a time when these tribes will face their own medicines. They will pay for their arrogance, I swear... "
The rest of what she said flew over my head. She mentioned something about some boys just like those chauffeurs.
What boys? What was their relationship with me?
" Now let's get going. " She pulled my arms but I refused again.
"Who are these boys that you were talking about? " I asked.
She looked at me with amusement and surprise.
" You really did lose your memory, didn't you? You don't know who they are? They are the princes of the Xoron, Akashi and Marine tribes, the next in line to the throne. "
I often heard those names. Uncle Kilian would always be worried about what they would do from time to time.
Whenever their messengers came, I would immediately be escorted inside and hidden.
Could it be that I really had something with members of those tribes?
The woman was right about my memories.
I did not have them but what memories was she talking about.
What memories held those princes in them?
What is the void that always made me feel incomplete?
" You are coming with me little brat!Stop being so difficult! "
Before I realized I was being kidnapped by the one who just quenched my hunger and thrust.
" By the way, I am Layla. We did meet before but I am letting you know, because you don't remember. "
