Homepage/A PICTURE OF HIM/
chapter 14
Months passed without hearing from Mr. Nich, I have sent him so many messages on Facebook, including texting but none were replied, I kept on dialing his number everyday, but it was unavailable. I made a decision to move on with my life but the feelings were still there. I could feel my heart beating on the sight of his drawing, I have tried letting go of those drawings but I found myself adding more to it. Everyday I prayed, I always make a wish to at least see him one more time.
My neighbor came and asked for my forgiveness, which I did. I noticed he became shy and uncomfortable around me but he caused it. My Facebook page kept on growing, there were so much demand from my followers to have Mr. Nich on my live again which I kept on giving excuses.
I took my drawing seriously and I was really getting contracts, unlike Mr. Nich contract, I made sure it's very professional and legal before I would visit a clients house.
One evening, the news of my boss death broke down the internet, I was scrolling down the walls of Facebook and I came across it, rumour had it that she was strangled, but who could have done that, I cried my eyes out because we all were hoping to have our boss back to feet, we had assembled ourselves and visited her many times at the hospital, she was recovering but what went wrong.
Rumour also had it that, my boss caught her husband molesting her 8 years old male cousin and she couldn't hide his crime. Mr. Tim my boss's husband is a very influential personality and wouldn't want anything to dent his name. The hospital and the nurse in charge of my boss had been summoned for questioning, but the nurse was detained, a decision best known to them.
That week was literally a bad week, I cried so well that I became sick, Mrs. Tim didn't deserve to die. Walking pass our shop would make you shed tears, a shop that ranked the over all best, looking abandoned and I know her rivals would definitely be happy about her death, so unfortunate.
One cool evening, on my way back home after a contract was successfully delivered, I came back looking so tired, I unlocked my door and walked into my room. The weather was so hot and there was no power supply, a day I took a decision of changing my apartment and location, since I'm making enough money for myself.
I started looking for house and I got it. It was a fine apartment in a beautiful area but not an estate, it was a bit high but I can actually afford it. After the payment and cleaning of the house, I moved into my new beautiful apartment, I also bought new home properties, the old ones were given to my neighbors who were in need of them. Change is really constant and mine is a positive change.
After work, Facebook became my friend. I would have to update my page, go live or chat with my followers and it's really fun doing that.
While scrolling, I saw an advert. A new art gallery has been opened and artists are needed; the pay mentioned was so nice and I decided to apply. I wrote them at the email which they provided and after few days, I got an appointment for an interview.
On the day of the interview, I dressed in a corporate wear looking great like always. The building was so beautiful, I can't tell why I'm so much attracted to beautiful things. Its designes looking so nice, the front of the building was like of a bar, where one could stay and drink, then moving into the building is an art gallery.
The owner of the bar is a man, whom introduced himself as Mr. Gomez. Mr. Gomez is a tall handsome dark man, he has a nice structure, his cologne was all over my nose, I love men who smell nice. He wore a black trouser with a neatly ironed blue shirt, he really looked well organized.
He interviewed me; at the end of the interview, I knew he was not satisfied with my academic qualifications, he was really expecting more. Looking at the organization, I know he needed qualified artist. He was actually looking for a way to send me out without being rude.
"Well, miss Clara I really need more aged person, you can choose to work at the bar, the pay is really nice too," he said.
I smiled and I knew he was wondering why. "Give me a chance Sir, ask me for a drawing here and now and I assure you, you will love it."
He nodded, maybe to him, he has seen a way to finally shift me out. He quickly brought a pen and a drawing pen sheet and handed it to me.
"Thank you Sir," I replied confidently.
"Make a draw of an imaginary human," he said.
I was so happy, this is the easiest task ever, something I love doing for fun. I said my little prayer before the drawing, I decided to make a cute drawing of Mr. Nich and within a short time I was done. I watched the drawing closely, with a sincere smile on my face, I admired 'the man of my dream and the work of my hands.'
"I'm done Sir," I said calling his attention.
So soon, he asked.
I handed the drawing to him, waiting for the final judgement. I could see the expression on his face, he couldn't believe I could draw so perfectly well.
"Miss Clara you did well, congratulations you have gotten the job," he added.
I felt like shouting, but I have to comport myself, "thank you Sir," I said to him countless times.
"Can I ask a question please," Mr. Gomez said staring at me .
"Yes Sir," I replied.
"Do you know this man and why did you draw him?" He asked
Looking at him he needed an answer, I told him I'm a fan of Mr. Nich, trying my best not to disclose any information, I'm so sad he hasn't been on line for a very long time, I said sounding like a concerned fan.
"I'm sorry for that, Mr. Nich has been in the hospital," he said.
I tried asking him a question, but he stylishly ended the discussion, his body language showed he knows Mr. Nich and he is regretting saying what he said. He handed over the contract to me.
"You have 3 days to go through it and sign the documents, if you are comfortable with the contract rules."
I thanked him and left.Download Novelah App
