136. The Missing Truth 15

 At The Front Desk
After George got up, he walked out of his office and headed to the Production Department. He envisaged that the Sales Manager would be with Capt. Miles to inform him of the order and he imagined rightly.
Laura was upset when he saw him walking unperturbed as though there was no petition.
“Why is the barrister delaying? He promised to come this morning and submit a hard copy,” she asked herself and began to wait.
At The Production
“I thought as much. I knew I would meet you here,” George announced joyously after greeting Capt. Miles.
“What brings you, Sergeant?” Capt. Miles asked.
“Concerning the order. Let us wait for clarifications from the client. He can't stop us from satisfying our regular clients,” he stated without quoting the President.
“You are right. How can he monopolize us,” the Production Manager pointed out.
“But he has paid,” the Sales Manager said.
“We are not contesting that. But his standing order. So, keep accepting orders.”
“I got it,” Capt. Abrams accepted.
After their discussions, they left the Production Department and returned to the Administrative Block.
At The Lobby.
George and the Sales Manager were waiting for the elevator gates to open while the hysterical Laura could not bear to know that the organization would not shut down because of her anymore. She picked up her phone and called the barrister
At that point, the angry Barrister had gone into his car and was about to drive out. He frowned when he saw her call and picked it up.
“Good morning, Barrister. Why are you not here yet?”
“What do you mean by that?” He asked and explained what happened.
“Oh, no! I'm no longer the President's Secretary,” she informed him.
“Ouch! You should have informed me. I addressed you as the President's Secretary in my petition. Did you not see it?”
“Permit my oversight. I hope it won't stop anything?”
“Not at all. Let's wait for their response.”
“It is all right, Barrister. Thank you for your understanding.”
“You are welcome.”
At Tim's House
He was waiting for news from Ambrose and watching the television when the jingle for the anniversary celebration came up. He smiled when he saw George as the only Sergeants among Generals and Brigadiers.
“I hope he won't be lonely that day?” He asked himself.
On second thought, he asked himself again, “I hope his managers won't be envious of him?”
He watched the jingle to the end and resolved to make them happy too. Instantly, he sent a message to George.
(Inform your managers that they will accompany you to the orphanage anniversary. I think they will like you for that.)
As soon as he sent the message, he got a message from Ambrose.
(Hello, Gerald. We just arrived and are heading to the hotel.)
He grinned a broad smile and replied.
(I'm glad to hear that your trip was smooth. Welcome to Canterbury.)
(Thank you. I will share the address with you now.)
(It's all right. I will be with you shortly.)
Before George could acknowledge the message, he was already up and began to dress up.
He was distracted by the messages from his other phone.
(Hello, Your Excellency. I'm glad to inform you that we are in Canterbury.)
Tim read it and overlooked it. “After all, Gen. Hanklin is sick and could be sleeping,” he told himself and continued to dress up.
Soon, Ambrose shared the address of the hotel with him and he was happy to know that it was one of the hotels in Christchurch.
(See you soon.)
Now he had hung his cross bag and walked to the garage. He was happy that the old man was not outside.
“He must have tired out after tilling the garden,” he said to himself and got into the car.
He drove to the gate and waited for Richard to get in before he drove off.
At The Auxiliary Armory PLC
George was in his office when he got Tim's message and read it. He happily responded at once.
(Thank you, so much for watching my back, Boss. They will be happy to hear that.)
He looked at the jingle again and smiled satisfactorily to himself. He got up again and tried to walk out of the office but he saw Cpl. Simpson through the CCTV walked into the secretary's office and halted.
“What brings him?” He asked and sat down again.
Bright saw the folder in his hand and asked, “Is it from the Barrister?”
“Yes.”
“Kindly give it to me. I will hand it over to him.”
“It is all right,” he declared and gave him the folder.
“Thank you. Do you wish to see him for anything else?”
“Not at all,” he answered and walked away.
Bright took the petition to George and he inquired, “What is that?”
“It's from the former secretary's lawyer.”
“Take it to Barr. Fitzgerald,” he instructed at once.
“I got it, Boss,” he said and left.
George who wanted to visit the Accountant's office decided to call him. He arrived immediately he invited him. He informed him of Tim's stand on the payment from the Field Marshall and he laughed loudly.
“What are you up to, Sergeant?” He asked hoping that it was his idea.
George laughed softly and answered, “I feel boxed into a corner. How can he come to my country and give me orders?”
“Can you imagine that?”
“Will he permit me to do the same in his country?”
“Not at all,” Capt. Graham said.
“Then he should let me be.”
“If he is not happy with it, he can come over for a fight.”
George knew where he was going and laughed aloud. They discussed other issues until lunch.
At The Hotel
Ambrose was disappointed to see that Gerald cut such an absurd figure that he felt inclined to mock him.
“Hello, Ambrose. I'm Gerald,” Tim introduced himself.
“I see. I expected to see a huge powerful-looking man,” he teased and they laughed.
“I'm not the Third in Command. Remember?”
“I got it. I'm pleased to meet you. Meet my colleagues,” he said and introduced his colleagues one after the other.
“I'm glad to meet you,” he said.
“We are glad to see you,” they responded one after the other and Ambrose looked at the Major standing beside him.
He simply introduced him as the Third in Command's security officer and they were truly impressed.
“Thank you for your assistance, Gerald,” Ambrose appreciated him once again.
“Consider it as nothing. I propose that you take your time and rest. Work can commence tomorrow. What do you think?”
“It is all right by us.”
After, Ambrose walked him to the car park and was amazed at his scrap.
“Wow! Your car is wonderful,” he teased.
Tim laughed softly and answered, “I understand at least I am mobile.”
“That is it.”
Now, Tim and Richard got into the car. Ambrose looked at Richard who was sitting in the front seat and worth his respect.
“See you tomorrow, Major,” he greeted him respectfully.
“It is okay, Ambrose. Until tomorrow.”
“Bye, Gerald,” he greeted Tim and watched him drive away.
“How can one be happy to be a criminal?” Tim asked.
“It baffles me too. They are so free.”
“Yes. They are free because this is not their first time coming into the country.”
“That is true,” he said.
Soon, they were at home. Meanwhile, Ambrose had sent a message to Gen. Hanklin to update him on their meeting with Gerald.
At The Canteen
The Managers and George were chatting happily while waiting for their orders. Meanwhile, Laura was in low spirits when he saw the joy that they radiated. Previously, she was not sure that they got the petition but now, she was certain.
“Why is he not worried?” She asked herself.
To her annoyance, the anniversary jingle was repeated as if the television had no other program.
“That reminds me, I can't be at the anniversary with those big faces alone,” George informed them.
“Why not? You have to face them boldly,” the General Manager encouraged him.
“The least they would do is to swallow you up,” Capt. Trenton added.
“Harrison just said my mind. Just sit comfortably on your seat. When others laugh, ….”
“You laugh too,” the other managers interrupted Capt. Sawyer and they laughed happily.
At that point, the waiters served their food and they began to eat quietly until George spoke.
“I think it will be ideal if all of us go to the anniversary together.”
“Ha! Will it be allowed?” Capt. Bolton asked and the others waited for George's answer.
“Yes. It is allowed. After all, we are representing the organization.”
Instantly, a broad smile flickered across their faces, and Capt. Bolton who was more anxious declared.
“Count me in.”
“Count me in first,” the Accountant said.
“I'm in.”
George was happy with them for being appreciative of such a gesture.
At Tim's House
After lunch, the old man returned to his room. He had forgotten that he would receive a guest that day. Meanwhile, Tim was in the parlor waiting for Ella. It was not long before he heard the sound of a bus parked in front of the house.
“She is here,” he said to himself and looked out.
Collins led her into the courtyard and to the garden before he pleaded, “Wait for me here. I will bring him.”
“Okay, Sergeant.”
Collins walked to the old man's room and informed him, “The dietician is here.”
The old man was startled and got up from the bed.
“Really? Where is she?”
“She is waiting for you in the garden.”
“Is all right. I will be with her soon,” he said.
Collins waited for him to put on his flip-flops. When he was through, he walked him to the garden.
“Good afternoon, Old Man,” she got up and greeted him cheerfully.
He smiled softly and looked into her eyes before he responded, “Good afternoon, Young lady. How are you?”
“I'm fine, Old Man. And you?”
“Fine thank you, Young lady.”
“My name is, Ella Patrick,” she informed him and they sat down.
“It is a pleasure to meet you, Ella.”
“You are welcome. I learned you are just recovering from ill health.”
“Yes.”
“That is good. How is your appetite?”
“I eat as much as I can.”
“It is all right. What about sleep? Do you sleep well?”
“No.”
“That won't be a problem. I will recommend herbs that will stimulate your appetite, and you will sleep very well,” she promised and focused on his pale eyes.
“It's all right,” he answered and focused on her worried face.
“I'm not comfortable with those pale eyes,” she pointed out and he only smiled.
“For now, take enough water. I recommend veggies and fruits too.”
“It is all right.”
“I will be on my way, Old Man,” she announced and got up.
“It is okay. How do I get the herbs?”
“I will give the list of all that you need to Bright. He will tell me what I should do next?”
“I see,” the old man said.
