Chapter 36 - The Text Message

Shonee’s POV
Later that night…
For the hundredth time tonight, I tossed and turned in my bed, unable to bring myself to sleep after the unfortunate events of the charity gala.
Sighing, I sat up and rubbed my eyes, wondering what I was going to do now that I was wide awake at two in the morning. I couldn’t call Jordin and James, because they’d obviously be asleep by now, and I highly doubted if there was anything, I could do to entertain myself.
I was just about to again force myself to sleep when my phone chimed with a message. Wondering who it could be at this hour, I stretched over and picked up the device from my nightstand, squinting at the screen.
An unfamiliar number had sent me a photo and when I tapped on it, I immediately regretted opening the message because it contained a screenshot of a chat between Michael and Vincent. The last message read, "You know what to do, Vincent. 100k by 10 am tomorrow, or else."
Feeling a surge of anger and frustration, I quickly typed out a response.
Me: You've got some nerve, Michael. What makes you think Vincent will just hand over that kind of money on your whim?
Almost immediately, Michael's reply came.
Michael: Oh, you poor simpleton. Trying to act tough when your entire life is firmly in my grasp. I don’t want to argue with you this early, Shon. But just wanted to let you know that if Vincent doesn’t pay up by this deadline, I’ll make sure everyone knows about your little nanny affair. So, make sure you encourage him to do his best 😀
That smiley emoji at the end almost had me chucking my phone at the wall. “What an idiot!” I murmured.
Then a series of knocks came rattling through my bedroom door.
A bit startled, I asked, “Who is it?”
No answer, so I scooted out of my bed and unlocked the door. My eyebrows flying up in surprise. “Vincent?”
He still wore the same white shirt and pants from his tuxedo ensemble earlier this evening and it surprised me because we had arrived home two hours ago.
“Can I come in?” His gaze was searing so I nodded, opening the door wide and locking it after he had entered.
Silence reigned for a few minutes until Vincent announced, “Michael texted me.”
“I know,” I admitted. “He sent me a screenshot of the chat a few minutes ago.”
Dejected, Vincent plopped down on the edge of my bed, running his hands over his face and hair. “I’m so confused, Shonee. I don’t know what to do. Michael just asked for money now, but there’s this part of me that knows that his demands are going to get absurd with each passing day.” He let out another frustrated groan. “I’m at my wits end right now. I just…I just wish there was a way to get rid of him.”
A swarm of guilt found its way into my system and as I perched myself on my dresser chair, the only thing I could say to comfort him was “I’m sorry.”
“What?” Vincent lifted his head.
“I said I’m sorry, Vincent.” Unable to meet his eyes, I hung my head in shame. “This is all my fault. If I hadn’t overreacted at the engagement party, and if I’d just been a little bit more careful…”
He cut me off with a shake of his head. "No, Shonee. This isn't your fault. None of this would have happened if it weren't for Michael's manipulative games."
"But he wouldn't have had anything to use against us if we hadn't... if we hadn't been together," I confessed, my voice barely above a whisper.
“Shonee, look. Look at me.” All of a sudden, Vincent was right in front of me. His eyes softened as he cupped my face in his hands, forcing me to meet his gaze. "I don't regret a single moment we've spent together. Not one."
"But look at where it's gotten us," I argued, tears welling up in my eyes. "We're trapped, Vincent. Trapped in a web of blackmail and deceit, with no way out."
Vincent's expression hardened with determination. "We'll find a way out, Shonee. Together. I won't let Michael destroy us; I promise. Honestly, you are the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I would do anything to protect you, even if it means risking everything.”
My eyebrows narrowed. “You-you don’t mean that.”
“Seriously, I would.” His unwavering gaze remained glued to my face. “You mean a lot to me. And not just because of Mirasol. You’ve called me out on my shitty parenting skills and on several occasions, you’ve given me the motivation I need to move on. You came to this house as a nanny, but you’ve shown everyone, including me, your worth and that’s something I’d never take for granted. Never…” As that last word left his mouth, he brushed away a stray tear from my cheek. “How… how I wish I was engaged to you, instead of Avril.”
I don’t know what came over me, but in the next minute, my lips were on his, drowning in a hot, searing and passionate kiss. Vincent’s words had filled me with a sense of hope, but deep down, I knew that the situation was far more complicated than either of us realized. Still, in that moment, with Vincent's arms wrapped around me, I allowed myself to believe that maybe, just maybe, we could overcome the obstacles that lay ahead.
And as we held each other close, the weight of the world seemed to lift from our shoulders, if only for a fleeting moment. In that moment, all that mattered was the warmth of Vincent's embrace, the softness of his lips on mine, and the promise of a future together, no matter what challenges we might face.
Gently, I felt the cool sheets of my bed as Vincent laid me down, both of us lost in the intensity and the cravings we’d had for each other since day one. All that passion was becoming a reality right now and I wanted nothing more but to revel in the feeling.
So far, all he had done was to kiss my lips and neck. His hands had yet to stray past my shoulders and it made me tense and anxious. What the heck was he waiting for? “More…please,” I whispered, running my hands over the expanse of his powerful back and biceps.
He only chuckled as a response then his mouth descended lower, but at a torturous, leisurely pace.
“Allow me...” He kissed the top of my hardened nipple. “…to take my time…” He kissed the other one. “…pleasuring you.”
At this point, all I wanted was to rip off my tank top and shove my nipples into his mouth, but I managed to stay calm, permitting him to work his magic on my chest. Slowly, his hands went under my top and gradually, he pulled the fabric over my head, staring down at my half-exposed body.
“Wow…you’re even more gorgeous than I imagined.” As he trailed kisses down my neck, caressing my breasts with the stubble on his chin, he looked up and I nearly lost myself in the desire and passion swirling around in his eyes.
Oh God… He nipped at my chest, ever so slowly, sending spasms of delight coursing through my body. “Mm Vincent.”
He showered tender kisses over my breast, now holding one firmly with his hand, stroking the tip with his thumb. Then his mouth encompassed the other nipple, tenderly sucking and pulling it between his teeth.
“Ah!” I arched into him, allowing him full access and I heard him chuckle again.
“More?”
“Yes please.” I gasped.
His free hand slid further down my stomach, right into my pyjama bottoms, grazing me intimately and my hips immediately jerked up at the sudden contact. At first, all he did was rub soothing circles on my clit, but when his finger sunk into me, I lost all train of thought. My mind was a complete blur, lost in sexual ecstasy, revelling in the repeated motion of his hand and the frequent laps, and sucking of my nipple.
“Tell me how it feels…” his hoarse voice reached the depths of my soul.
My lips were a quacking mess. “Ssoo…ah…so ggood.”
But just when I could no longer take the pleasure anymore without exploding, he yanked out his finger just to send me a wicked grin.
“Hold still.” Leaving my chest, Vincent crawled down, making fast work of my pyjama bottom and angling himself right against my opening.
I immediately sat up, watching how he admired my pussy by stroking my clit first, and told me how beautiful it was before putting his mouth in action. Falling back onto the mattress, I moaned again as his tongue flicked, curled and latched on to my most sensitive parts. I could’ve sworn that I heard him say, “Sweet Heaven,” but it was all lost in the pulse and the rush of blood in my eardrums.
Like a man starved to death, Vincent yanked me closer, tilting my hips and throwing one leg over his shoulder as he took his time, devouring me whole, and sending me squealing into new heights of orgasms I’d never reached in my entire sex life. This was what I was missing: a man who could eat and at the same time make me feel so special with his tongue.
In a matter of seconds, Vincent had reduced me into a quivering mass of need and gasping breaths. I swear I lost count of the number of times I came, but it didn’t matter because the major climax had yet to arrive.
Vincent crawled off me to yank off the rest of his clothes and I swallowed at the sight of his length.
He gave it a good, slow, stroke, eyeing me carefully. “Ready?”
“God yes.” And to prove it, I opened wider for him, welcoming him back with a deep kiss. Then he slid himself between my thighs, gliding against my wetness before plunging into me.
“Ooh, Vincent!” His name turned into a moan leaving my lips.
“Sssh!” He bit my earlobe. “You’re going to wake the whole house.” Anchoring himself, he thrust into me, each pump making my pulse race fast. “Fuck, you feel so good…so warm and tight.”
I coiled my legs around his waist in an attempt to take in more of him. My hands were in his hair, pulling and tugging as he bucked his hips again and again. Each time our bodies connected; I could feel a thrill pulse through me like this was meant to be. With his next stroke, the thrill erupted into an explosion of pleasure, making my muscles tense and shudder. “Mm, please don’t stop. Please.”
We rode the waves of ecstasy together, succumbing to the warmth and passion of a forbidden romance between an employer and employee; a billionaire and a nanny. Except right now, we didn’t feel that way at all. We were just two lovers, drowning in the intensity of our emotions.
The two of us crest together, spasms overtaking every inch of our muscles as our bodies hurled over the edge of sexual pleasure. Finally, Vincent fell back on the bed, spent. His arms wrapped around me as we both caught our breath.
“Th-that…” I heaved out. “That was amazing.”
“Tell me about it,” Vincent responded with a laugh and it made me smile.
“Thank you.” I propped myself on his chest and gazed into his eyes because I wanted him to feel the sincerity in my words. “Thank you for making me feel cherished and…loved.”
He pushed a stray braid to the side and adoringly stroked my cheek. “Don’t mention, sweetheart.”
