Chapter 57
Shadows Embrace
Kill Ravenshroud's POV In the midst of my escape, a dragon greeted us, and I carried Mors and Nox. I recognized the dragon as Astralus, so I quickly mounted him with Eira also present. I laid down my two companions, Mors and Nox, while Astralus continued to soar. Utilizing my Healing ability, I tended to their wounds to prevent further harm. Afterward, I settled atop Astralus's head as we flew out of the Celestria region. I tapped Astralus's head and indicated our path. Hours passed, and both Mors and Nox woke from their slumber, though we were still in the sky. Mors approached me while Nox stayed by Eira's side. Sitting beside me, Mors gazed ahead with a serious expression. "Kill?" He spoke suddenly, turning to me. "You've grown strong, and it seems we won't be able to catch up to you anymore. Unlike before when you were the one trying to reach us, but now..." He smiled and looked ahead again. I regarded him with lifeless eyes, also focusing on the horizon. "What's next for you?" He asked, bringing his right knee up to his face, resting his right hand atop it. "We'll change the system and ways of this world, and establish our names as the deadliest assassins in the entire world," I replied coldly to Mors. "I don't know what you've been through these past three years, but don't worry, Nox and I will support whatever decision you make," Mors smiled as he looked at the sky. The sun was setting, and they witnessed the beautiful sight of it sinking from the sky and the entire surroundings taking on an endless, breathtaking beauty. Moments later, as darkness enveloped us, the enormous moon emerged, seemingly within our grasp. Nox and Eira conversed behind us, but I felt nothing and didn't catch their jokes. "We'll reach our destination tomorrow, so if you want, you can rest now," I said coldly, gazing upwards while riding the dragon, Astralus. By midnight, the two girls had fallen asleep, while Mors remained seated beside me. Together, we watched the stars and the moon. "Kill, tell me, will you destroy the Celestria region?" Mors suddenly asked, his gaze fixed on the stars. "That's not in my plans," I replied, also looking at the stars, "I'll kill the people there, not destroy it," I answered with a cold voice. "Do you have anyone you care about there, like friends or loved ones?" he asked. I glared at Mors, my desire to kill focused solely on him. "Rule number 5 of assassins—assassins don't make friends and should have none," I answered, lowering my bloodlust. "Is that so?" He nodded and smiled. "Well, that's good to know. I also have someone I want to kill in the Celestria region," Mors smiled as if delirious and looked at me. "That's good then," I replied in a cold tone. "Because if you had a friend there and I killed them, you might come after me," Mors said again. "I'll kill you whenever you want," I replied in a cold voice. Time passed, and the sun rose, waking up the two girls with it. I put on my skull mask and we prepared to descend from the sky. Once we landed, Astralus transformed back into his humanoid form. "Is this a dungeon?" Nox pointed at the dungeon. "What are we doing here?" I didn't answer her and entered the dungeon. They followed me inside. "The monsters are gone," Astralus looked around as if searching for monsters in the dungeon. "Tell me, Kill, did you make this and kill the monsters?" "Before I arrived here, there were no monsters in this dungeon," I replied as we descended the stairs. "Bandits killed the monsters here." "Where are the bandits?" Mors asked. "I don't see any." "I killed them all and burned their bodies," I replied, and we reached the bottom floor of the dungeon. "Who's there?" a man sitting there with two knives pierced through his eyes asked fearfully. "Don't come near me," he pleaded. "Tell me? Who is this wretch?" Nox pointed at the man. I approached the man and faced him. "He's our ally," I said to them as I removed the two knives pierced through his eyes. "He's Black Serpent, the boss of the bandits I killed." Then I healed his eyes using my healing flame. I also removed my mask. "Open your eyes now, they're healed," I said to Black Serpent sternly. He slowly opened his eyes and jumped back, taking a battle stance. "You monster, Kill, what right do you have to toy with the Bandit King?" he said to me. "I told you, didn't I? I'll need your strength, so let's go," I replied to him and turned away. The others turned away as well and ascended the dungeon. "Did you hear what Kill said, right?" Eira looked at Black Serpent. "So stop moping around." Once we reached the top, Black Serpent followed us. Astralus turned into a dragon again, and we rode on him. Black Serpent still didn't want to ride, so I glared at him. "Are you coming or should I just kill you?" I said with a cold voice. He didn't refuse anymore and rode Astralus. We flew into the sky. "You're in charge of our hideout," I said to Black Serpent, glaring at him as if I were going to kill him. "Y-yes," he replied to me.
