Chapter 58
Echoes of Darkness: Ascension to the Abyssal Throne
"We flew with Astralus as he soared, and we rode on his back, our flight gentle as the wind greeted our faces with its beauty. The sun continued to rise higher. We were above the clouds, and below us, we could see the towns that belonged to no region. They call It Nova Glade. Nova Glade is a serene and enchanting realm nestled between the borders of the three established regions, a haven untouched by the politics and constraints of the surrounding kingdoms. Here, the community thrives in harmony with nature, living off the land and embracing the mysteries of the untamed wilderness. In Nova Glade, the villagers forge their own path, guided by the wisdom of the ancient forests and the song of the rivers that flow through their domain. It is a place where the spirit of adventure is alive, and where every sunrise brings the promise of new discoveries and untold wonders. In the heart of Nova Glade lies Midhaven, where dwells one of the seven deadly clans shrouded in mystery. I let out a sigh, placing my hand on my forehead and covering my right eye. "The world truly is vast," I thought to myself. Nox glanced at me and sat beside me. "Is something wrong?" She asked, looking at me with a sweet smile. "Kill, I just want you to know that we're here for you if you're going through something." I looked into his eyes expressionlessly, then gazed ahead. I let out a sigh and asked him, "What happened to your clan?" My voice was cold. "Don't you remember what happened?" Nox's eyes lost their light. "Yes, I remember what happened to me back then, three months before I escaped from that world. They were annihilated by one of the seven deadly clans from the Emberlands. I can never forgive them!" I narrowed my eyes as I looked at him, and Nox's dark aura emerged. "What is the name of your lineage?" I asked, my voice icy. "Lysander, and my lineage, decimated by the Everhart from the Emberlands," his black aura continued to emanate. "They alone possess unique abilities". And suddenly, Mors interjected, "Everhart, part of the Seven Deadly Clans," Mors stood behind us, chilling the air. "My clan, too, was decimated by the Everhart clan, which is why when I told you I had someone to kill in Celestria, but it's vague that's because I didn't know who is the person who was living there that was belong to the Everhart Clan. "Is that so?" I asked the two. "So, you're telling me that someone from the Emberlands, a member of the Everhart Clan, has ended up in Celestria?" "Not... not lost, but a child of the Everhart," Nox replied to me. "How did an Everhart end up in Celestria?" I asked, my voice cold. "We don't know the whole story yet... but someone told us that the daughter of the Everhart Clan leader ran away from the Emberlands and was spotted in Celestria. But we do not know where they are now," Mors said. "In that case, what's your next move? Kill?" Nox asked, looking at me. "I'll tell you later, once we've arrived at our destination," I responded, my voice still cold. Suddenly, Black Serpent approached us and declared, "Prepare yourselves, we are about to descend from the heavens." Astralus swiftly adjusted his position, readying us for our landing. As we began our descent, fierce winds battered against us, yet we remained unharmed, shielded by an aura that enveloped our bodies. Gradually, Astralus slowed our fall, majestically spreading his wings. With a final, graceful sweep of his wings as we neared the ground, he ensured our landing was as soft as a whisper on the wind. As Astralus descended and assumed human guise, we followed suit, stepping onto the earth below. Before us loomed a titanic stone, ancient and weathered, adorned with verdant foliage clinging to its sides. Its color, a blend of ochre and ash, bore streaks of blackened rust, testament to the aeons it had stood against time's relentless march. "Is this it?" Astralus inquired, gesturing towards the immense stone. "Yes, that's it," Black Serpent replied, adjusting his hat atop his head, an extension of his flowing black cloak. "It lies between the Emberlands and Celestria. This is also the westernmost point of the entire continent, with the sea close by." Eira, Mors, and Nox approached the massive stone. Eira rapped her knuckles against it. "It doesn't seem like there's an entrance," she remarked, casting a disappointed glance at Black Serpent. Black Serpent and I joined them by the stone. "Not many venture to this place due to the barrier of the Emberlands, but it's fortunate that we have Astralus with us. Thanks to the red scales on his chest, we've concealed our presence. However, this doesn't belong to any of the three regions. It's still part of the Nova Glades," Black Serpent explained as we drew closer to the imposing structure. Black Serpent grasped the massive stone, feeling its texture and energy. Afterward, he approached Mors and said, "You can manipulate shadows and make them move as you wish, right?" "Yes, that's correct," Mors replied. "Touch the stone and feel the presence of a shadow within it. Then, utilize your ability," Black Serpent instructed, pointing to the stone. Mors approached the stone and touched it, sensing its essence. Mors struggled to detect the shadow on the vast stone. Five minutes had elapsed, and he finally removed his hand from the rock. He approached us, his voice firm yet inviting, "Gather around me," he instructed. We drew near, and soon a large circle formed beneath our feet, as if it were pulling us downwards, gently yet persistently. Within moments, we found ourselves inside the vast stone, and suddenly, lights flickered on. We glanced around as we walked through the immense, empty chamber. The floor was littered with scattered fragments of shattered stone. Our companions, too, surveyed the surroundings. Black Serpent ventured into the center, where a round cover lay on the floor, stubbornly sealed and refusing to open. "Come closer, Kill," beckoned Black Serpent, summoning me to his side. I approached and examined the round seal closely. "This stone has lain here for ages, awaiting the rightful one to claim it. Yet, all who have tried before failed, their auras insufficient to unlock it. There is a price for failure, and that price is life itself. Yet, this place has been forgotten, especially by this generation. This stone was sealed during the 4th Great War of this continent by the Shadowbanes. Why, you ask? That, you will discover once it is opened," Black Serpent pointed at the seal, unfolding its tale to me. "Channel your aura into this seal, and it shall open," Black Serpent took my hand, guiding it towards the sealed cover. Gradually, I infused it with my aura, an abundant stream flowing into the seal. Bit by bit, the inscriptions along its edge began to glow, illuminated by the strength of my aura. Soon, the inscriptions were fully lit, and suddenly, the ground beneath us trembled. In the eastern part of the chamber, a staircase leading downwards emerged, as if conjured by the awakened seal. We approached the staircase and began our descent. As we ventured deeper, lights flickered to life along our path, piercing the enveloping darkness. Upon reaching the bottom, we were greeted by the sight of a throne, its back adorned with a skull emblem against the wall. The surroundings lay in ruins. Stones scattered across the floor, pillars fractured at every corner and the center. "You have been chosen, Kill," Black Serpent suddenly spoke, pointing towards the throne, "your seat awaits." "Wait, what place is this?" Eira interjected, a hint of awe in her voice. "It seems like the dwelling of the first demon." "The one possessed by Lucifer still walks among us, sustained by the dark lord's power. Likewise, others within the Blood Demon Clan have fallen under demonic sway. Only Adramelech, Astaroth, Moloch, and Beelzebub remain untainted by possession. Meanwhile, in Celestria, a being bears the demonic essence of Megiculla within. Take your rightful place upon the throne, Kill. This realm is now christened The Stygian Citadel, Lucifer's Abyssal Seat," explained Black Serpent with a voice that echoed with intrigue and mystery. I strode towards the throne and ascended the small steps leading to its base. Seating myself, I crossed my legs, resting one elbow on the armrest while cradling my face in my hand, as if assuming the role of a true monarch.
