Chapter 62: Drea's Assurance

Dylan immediately grasped for air. That dream turned into a nightmare. His eyes opened themselves, assuring that it was only an illusion. Dylan is still panting. He is exhausted even after a long sleep.
Soon, he realized that Enzo is inside the room. He followed them just like what Langston ordered. Enzo went near him. Dylan doesn't seem to care fully about his presence. He wanted to treat him nicely but he sees him as a competition.
The reaper stood next towards the bed. Dylan sat up. He is still caught up by his thoughts. The dream itself looks so real for him. He couldn't forget what he saw. To him, it's not just a dream.
Enzo noticed his silence, so he asked.
"Nightmares my king?"
Dylan looked up to see him. Enzo's face is still angelic as ever, every detail looks innocent and decent. No one can suspect that he is a reaper in a very dangerous league.
"Yes, in my dream, something bad happened. I was with two little girls." Dylan shared what's bothering him.
Enzo listened carefully, but to him, he just thought that it was just a simple dream and nothing more.
He raised his hand to tap Dylan's shoulders.
"It's just a dream sir."
"I hope so." Dylan replied.
Dylan realized that it was almost night time, the sun is about to set. Which means he slept for the rest of the day. The breakdown was too stressful for him, his mind blacked out.
"I'll leave you, my king. I have something to handle." The reaper bid his goodbye.
Dylan just nodded. He now noticed that Enzo is not as bad as he thought before. He is caring like the others. The window inside the room gave an orange light. Enzo walked out of the room, leaving Dylan in silence for the nth time.
Dylan could not forget the two girls in his dream. One of them resembles the back of the girl in his first dream. He is starting to sense something odd in this.
"What if those are memories?" Dylan hunched.
From the doorframe, Drea was eavesdropping. Her eyes widened.
'Could this be the moment that I am waiting for?' Her hopes were high.
There, she entered the scene. Drea wanted to know if Dylan's memories were back.
"Memories?" She asked.
Dylan was shocked by her presence, but he just laughed it off. He turned his eyes unto her.
"I didn't see you there."
Drea continued to walk inside. He did not answer her question, and she's hoping for a clearer response.
"Do you remember anything?" Drea went straight to her point.
Dylan doesn't know if what he dreamed of was a part of his old life, but everything that he saw felt so real.
"I don't, sadly." Dylan replied.
The king was disappointed, he knew how important his memory is, without it, he will walk with no experience and knowledge about kingship.
Drea's joy was prolonged.
'Soon, you'll remember me my Lan.'
Drea just sat at the bedside. The both of them were just staring at each others eyes.
"What if my memories won't return?" Dylan spoke his greatest what if.
Drea has no other choice but to smile bitterly. She knew the consequences if Dylan's memories will be forgotten permanently. Not only the underground society will be placed at stake, but also her heart.
"I don't know what might happen." Her answer was honest.
She does not know if what will this life lead them on, Dylan's state was never an ordinary one. The melancholic vibe within Dylan never left.
"But if your memories won't return, then we'll make new ones." Drea tried to lighten him up.
She has no other choice. If he can't remember the Drea that he was friends with, then she'll replay their past. To the girl whom he saved, their experiences were worth more than gold.
Drea's assurance made Dylan smile. It gave him hope. She's indeed the best girl whom he ever met. The Black Sparrow became a white dove of light. After all, this bird was sent to save her king from the vultures.
Now, Dylan gained the strength that he needs. He stood up, his life was filled with tragic happenings, but Drea became her fairytale. The maid in distress was actually his princess, a royal playmate whom he saved 15 years ago.
Dylan offered a hand out to her. It was accompanied by a smile.
"Let's go start making new ones then."
Drea gladly took his hand. She stood up. Their skins touching each others fibers gave them nostalgia. It was electrifying. Their feet started to walk as well. They went out of the room, leading straight towards the living room.
Peacekeepers smiled with what they saw. They became a witness to the past love of their king, they did not know that such sweet story will be written again.
They walked hand on hand. It was unusual for almost two strangers to act this way, but to them, it was natural. For a few minutes of walking, they've reached the living room.
Liam greeted them joyfully.
"Good evening our king, would you like a glass of wine?"
Dylan nodded and the youngest reaper immediately acted upon his request. He rushed to get two glasses, filling them both with expensive red wine. Liam handed it out to Drea and Dylan.
But his service wasn't yet over. As he went near Dylan's ear, he whispered something. His voice was too low, Drea wasn't able to hear him.
"I'll be going out, is there anything that you would like to buy?" His tone was proposing a plan.
Dylan smiled. The young man took it as a yes. To avoid suspicions, Liam departed from Dylan. He knew the love of their king for Drea, this will be his little help for him.
The night was now deep, but it's Bluemierre's time to go out. They are nocturnal beings, elusive and careful crafted predators. Liam is planning to check out something, his visit to the city is not just an ordinary grocery day.
The young reaper will meet their new recruit.
