Abyssal Alice

Abyssal Alice

chapter 1

As the grandfather clock struck midnight, its chimes reverberating through the mansion, the family gathered in the dimly lit living room, drawn together by an unspoken sense of unease.
"Did you hear that?" whispered Emily, her voice barely above a breath.
"Hear what?" replied her husband, John, his brow furrowed in confusion.
"The whispers," Emily insisted, her eyes darting nervously around the room. "I swear, it sounded like someone was speaking."
John exchanged a glance with his sister, Sarah, who sat across from them on the antique sofa. "Emily, you're letting your imagination run wild again. There's no one here but us."
"But I heard it too," Sarah interjected, her voice trembling slightly. "Faint, but definitely there."
Their father, William, cleared his throat, attempting to dispel the tension that hung heavy in the air. "Enough of this nonsense. We're all on edge with everything that's been happening lately, but there's no need to let our imaginations get the best of us."
Just then, a soft creak echoed from the staircase, causing the family to fall silent, their eyes widening in apprehension.
"What was that?" whispered Emily, her hand instinctively reaching for John's.
Before anyone could respond, a voice, cold and haunting, pierced the stillness of the room. "Did you miss me, my darlings?"
The family turned as one to see the source of the voice—a porcelain doll, perched atop the banister, her painted lips curved into a wicked smile.
A collective gasp escaped their lips as they stared in disbelief at the doll, its eyes gleaming with an otherworldly light.
"S-sarah, is that...?" stammered John, his voice barely audible over the pounding of his heart.
Sarah nodded, her throat constricted with fear. "It's Abyssal Alice."
The doll's laughter, low and chilling, filled the room, sending shivers down their spines.
"Welcome home," she whispered, her voice dripping with malice. "I've been waiting for you."
"What do you want from us?" demanded John, his voice quivering with a mixture of anger and terror.
The doll's painted smile widened, her eyes flickering with malevolent amusement. "Oh, just a little company, dear John. After all, it gets rather lonely in this old house all by myself."
Sarah's gaze remained fixed on Abyssal Alice, her mind racing with memories of childhood tales warning of the doll's dark powers. "You shouldn't be here," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "We destroyed you years ago."
Abyssal Alice chuckled, a sound that sent shivers down their spines. "Ah, but you see, you can never truly destroy me. My spirit lingers, bound to this vessel until I've had my fill of revenge."
William stepped forward, his hands trembling with a mixture of fear and determination. "What do you want from us? Name your price, and we'll do whatever it takes to rid ourselves of your presence."
The doll's gaze hardened, her porcelain features contorted into a mask of fury. "You dare to bargain with me? You, who abandoned me in the darkness, forgotten and alone?"
Before anyone could respond, the room plunged into darkness, the only sound the echoing laughter of Abyssal Alice as she vanished into the shadows.
As the family huddled together, their hearts heavy with fear, they knew that the nightmare had only just begun. Abyssal Alice had returned, and she would stop at nothing to claim her vengeance.
The darkness enveloped the room like a suffocating blanket, leaving the family paralyzed with fear and uncertainty.
"What do we do now?" whispered Emily, her voice barely audible in the oppressive silence.
"We need to find a way to get rid of that cursed doll once and for all," Sarah replied, her tone determined despite the trembling of her hands.
"But how?" John asked, his voice tinged with desperation. "We've tried everything in the past, and nothing worked."
William's voice cut through the darkness, a glimmer of hope amidst the despair. "There must be something we missed. Some clue or piece of information that can help us break this curse."
As they huddled together, their minds raced with memories of their past encounters with Abyssal Alice—the sleepless nights, the unexplained accidents, the feeling of being constantly watched.
Suddenly, Sarah's voice broke through their thoughts, her words laced with realization. "The old journal! Remember what Grandmother said about it? She claimed it held the key to banishing Abyssal Alice for good."
"The journal," William repeated, a spark of hope igniting in his eyes. "It's worth a try. Anything to end this nightmare once and for all."
With renewed determination, the family set out to search the mansion for the long-forgotten journal, their footsteps echoing through the darkness as they ventured deeper into the heart of the haunted house.
Hours passed as they combed through dusty libraries and hidden alcoves, their search growing more frantic with each passing moment. Just as they began to lose hope, Emily's voice rang out from the depths of the attic.
"I found it!" she cried, her hands trembling as she clutched the weathered journal to her chest.
Racing to her side, the family gathered around as Emily opened the journal, its pages yellowed with age and filled with cryptic symbols and incantations.
"We have to be careful with this," Sarah warned, her voice tinged with apprehension. "We don't know what kind of power these words hold."
With trembling hands, William began to read aloud from the journal, his voice steady despite the weight of the words he spoke. As the incantation filled the room, a sense of hope washed over the family, their hearts pounding with anticipation.
And then, in a flash of blinding light, Abyssal Alice appeared before them once more, her porcelain features contorted into a mask of rage.
"You dare to defy me?" she hissed, her voice echoing with fury.
But this time, the family stood united, their resolve unshakable as they faced the embodiment of their worst nightmares.
"We banish you, Abyssal Alice," William declared, his voice ringing with authority. "By the power of this ancient incantation, we cast you out from this world and into the darkness from whence you came."
With a final burst of light, Abyssal Alice let out a piercing scream, her form dissolving...
To be continues.
