CHAPTER 21
TRISTAN POV
As I stood in her simple, clean home, watching her reaction to seeing me, a smirk played on my lips. It was a moment I had longed for, a moment I had planned carefully to make sure she couldn't overlook me anymore.
I had grown tired of waiting, tired of hiding every night, watching her with that Kent guy. Each time I saw them together, my heart ached, a painful reminder of what I had lost. But I refused to let anyone else have her, especially when she belonged to me.
So I decided to act, determined to win her back no matter what. Introducing myself to her grandmother had been a brave choice, one that I knew would surprise her. But it was a chance I was ready to take if it meant getting back the love I had lost.
To my surprise, the old lady had welcomed me with open arms, immediately accepting me as her granddaughter's boyfriend. She had showered me with praise, expressing her hopes that I would love and cherish her granddaughter forever, a sentiment I shared wholeheartedly.
It was a deliberate move, one that I had planned carefully to ensure she couldn't ignore me like before. And judging by the surprise on her face, it seemed to be effective.
Only a fool would watch the person they love walk away without a fight. And I wasn't about to be that fool. I refused to let her go without a fight.
As she tried to speak, her eyes wide with shock, I couldn't help but feel a surge of joy. This was my moment, my chance to show her that we belonged together, no matter what challenges we faced.
"Hey, Sam! Wake up!" I teased, waving my hand in front of her face to get her attention. She blinked quickly, finally focusing on me with a mix of surprise and confusion.
I laughed, shaking my head at her playfulness. "Sam, don't give me that look, I might melt," I joked, teasing her exaggerated expression. Her cheeks turned a soft shade of pink, and I couldn't help but smile at her cute reaction.
"You've got some nerve. What are you doing here, huh?" she countered, her tone a mix of surprise and irritation. "And who said you're my boyfriend? You're so bold!"
I chuckled, unable to resist teasing her a bit more. "Audacious? Me?" I pretended to be shocked, placing a hand over my heart as if offended. "I prefer to see it as confident."
Sam rolled her eyes, but I could see a smile trying to break through. "Confident, arrogant, same thing," she muttered softly.
I grinned, knowing I had her hooked. Despite her protests, I could tell she wasn't as mad as she acted.
"What are you even doing here, huh?" Sam practically spat the question, her annoyance evident as she glared at me.
I raised an eyebrow, unperturbed by her hostility. "I asked you to call me by my name, remember?" I reminded her, my tone steady but firm.
"Well, I don't want to," she shot back, her voice dripping with defiance. "Can you do anything about it? And leave, you're wasting my time," she added, attempting to dodge me and move past me.
But I wasn't going to allow her to brush me off so quickly. As she tried to walk past me, I gently grasped her arm, stopping her in her tracks. "Sam, please," I said, my voice softening as I looked into her eyes. "We need to talk."
She scoffed, pulling her arm away from my grip. "Talk about what, Tristan? The past? Because as far as I'm concerned, there's nothing left to say," she replied, her tone icy and dismissive.
As I hug her, I feel her tense up in surprise, her body stiffening under my touch. But I don't let go, keeping her close as I lean in and rest my forehead on her shoulder. Her scent surrounds me, a mix of her natural smell and a hint of perfume.
"How many times have I wished for fate to bring us together and for you to notice me? How many times have I wished to hold you this tightly? I miss you so freaking much, Sam. I'm going crazy because of how much I miss you, and I hope you feel the same way about me," I whisper emotionally to her, tightening my embrace around her waist.
There's a brief silence, the only sound of her soft breath catching in her throat. Then, to my surprise and joy, she responds, her voice barely audible.
"T-Tristan..."
Hearing my name from her lips sends a shiver down my spine, filling me with warmth at the simple recognition of my presence.
Is it just me, or does it sound so good to hear her say my name?
I hold her tightly, as if nothing else matters in that moment. It's just the two of us, lost in our own world. She stiffened in my arms, and I held her tighter, finding comfort in our closeness. The tension between us was palpable, and I couldn't help but feel a mix of hope and dread. Would she feel the same way? Or would I be left heartbroken once more?
God, Sam, it seems like I can't pull myself together anymore, and I hope you're there to catch me.Download Novelah App
