35. Absence of Feeling

"Lily I will never really leave. However, remember this one thing: you can never purify me. You're only trying to cause yourself more harm by forcing me to live according to your wishes." I stared at Lily as if she were just a dark shadow in my heart.
I hate reality. I hate miracles. But I always knew clearly why those feelings were so lingering. The answer was only one: it was because of my incompetence that things were difficult. And I started blaming everything. That's how I made my heart hurt less.

"I told you. Isn't taking care of humans the same as making things difficult?" Poppy gave Lily a disappointed look.
Lily laughed bitterly. "I knew that. Even before you told me. But how could I possibly let my feelings pass me by?"
"You're stupid." Poppy tried to help Lily up. She glanced at Lily's scar. "You might ignore it. But I'm sure it must hurt like hell."
"It doesn't hurt because you're showing me you care." Lily smiled as she got up, and instantly the wound on her chest healed, leaving nothing there.
Poppy chuckled, and she then led Lily in front of a mirror. "After this, I hope you never interfere again in the life of that human named Saeran. If you feel the itch to help him, you can simply watch him from here. I hope you cross your boundaries again until you get hurt."
Lily moved closer to the mirror. She could see Saeran's figure reflected in it. "You prepared this for me?"
"Don't be a nag. I kept this silly thing for you to stop acting silly." Poppy still looked annoyed.
"Thank you, Poppy," Lily said sincerely. In her heart, Lily honestly felt a little disappointed that she could no longer relate to Saeran directly. But this was the best time for her not to interfere too much herself.
"You just wait here. Let me finish it this time." Poppy pushed Lily away slightly. "You just observe everything from here. Don't even think about leaving this place!" Poppy ordered firmly.

I wasn't sure. But somehow, in just one blink of an eye, I had suddenly been transported to a completely new and unknown place. Everything around me was unfamiliar and unknown. I felt rather surprised and scared because I didn't know how I came to be there. I tried to remember what I had done last time, but nothing came out of my memory. I started exploring the place and figuring out where I was.
"Saeran, welcome. Nice to see you again," said someone who suddenly appeared in front of me. He looked like a child, but his style of speech sounded like an adult.
"Who are you?" I asked curiously. I felt that I had seen his figure. For a moment, I tried to remember that figure again, and although it was difficult, I could finally remember it again. He was the little boy I had met before.
The little boy smiled wryly. "Should I introduce myself again more formally in front of you? Alright, if that's what you want." She extended her hand to me. Introduce me; my name is Poppy. You don't need to reply, because I'm sure you won't take it well." She smiled wryly, and it was obvious from the smile she had that she was mocking me.
I eyed her cute little hand, then shyly took it and shook it. "Nice to see you again, Poppy," I replied with a slight smile.
Poppy nodded, and then she looked at me sharply. "What brings you back here, Saeran?"
I took a deep breath. "I don't know either, but I feel like I have unfinished business here. And maybe that's why I'm stuck here like last time," I answered hesitantly.
Poppy nodded in understanding and flashed a smile. "I understand. I'll help you with whatever you need." She replied calmly.
I felt relieved to hear her words. But it was a false relief. I never felt confident in him, especially during that incident. But considering I was currently in a bad situation, I couldn't play the safest card I could hold.
"Now, are you going to explain your problem to me?" Poppy asked with a sharp look.
I nodded. "Yes, I have a problem here. Honestly, I don't know why I got stuck in this place. Plus, I'm not sure why I can't remember anything at all. Do you know why?" I asked innocently. The question that I asked her sounded more like a joke, perhaps to Poppy's ears. I believed that Poppy was not a stupid and naive person who would just believe it.
Poppy pondered for a moment, digesting everything I said. "There are many possibilities," she replied in a calm voice. "Maybe you have amnesia, or maybe there's something that's trapped you here. However, one thing is for sure: we need to find out the cause to find a solution. I hope you'll be patient when dealing with all this," he said, trying to calm me down.
I nodded, agreeing with his words. "But how can we find out the cause?" I was confused.
Poppy looked at me intently. "When we start to figure it out, we can start with the smallest things. For example, Remembering what was the last action you took before you got stuck in this place?"
I shook my head. "I don't know; I don't seem to know myself," I replied desperately.
Poppy pointed at her head. "Try to remember carefully. For example, did you meet someone before?"
Someone? I thought, trying to remember who it was that I was with last time. It was hard to remember, but vaguely, I started to remember something.
"Can you remember? Hm... it's possible that the figure you met had the figure or form of a child or an adult?" Poppy tried to help me remember the figure.
When Poppy tried to help me, a strange image suddenly appeared in my head. I seemed to be remembering a child with the appearance of a girl. It was pretty and sweet, and it looked very suitable for her. But somehow that sweet figure suddenly turned out to be filled with blood, and a fishy smell appeared, filling my nostrils.
I raised my hand and saw that there was blood there. My hand was covered in blood. I don't know where the blood came from. But... it feels like I'm very familiar with this feeling.Download Novelah App
