37. The one who comes Final
"We have to go!" Poppy tugged on Lily's hand, trying to lead her away.
"Why are you in such a hurry?" Lily was confused as to why Poppy seemed to be in such a hurry, she wasn't usually like this.
"I'll explain later." Poppy quickly took Lily running along with her.
Lily, who was confused, just followed Poppy's wishes and let herself run with Poppy.
But when they both tried to run, they avoided something. But finally they suddenly stopped.
"Doggone it!" Poppy growled. She then pulled Lily and hid her behind her body.
A skeletal figure with black wings stood in front of the two and seemed to be preventing them from leaving.
"I'm not sure that you two decided to run away. Shouldn't you be punished for trespassing?" The skull flew casually in front of Poppy and Lily.
"I've never even felt ruled by a strange creature like you. Have you forgotten that I am a high existence?" Poppy showed her high self-esteem.
The skull laughed, the sound of its laughter was so strange that it sounded like the clash of bones in its body that was completely devoid of skin and flesh.
"I'm sorry Mr. Vanity I forgot who I was talking to," she taunted. "But who was it that last time acted as if they were never used to living in the dark in the first place?" he quipped. "And who used to act as if he would never be willing to get close to his own sanctimonious opponent?"
"Shut up! You have no right to speak!" Poppy glared fiercely at the figure.
"I'm not here to hear bluster. So... you and your opponent or friend, I'll take you home," she said lightly.
"You have no right or power to do that."
"I do have a lower status than you two. Yet I have absolutely, no system like you guys to pay attention to status. Soul Reaper, has no business with darkness and virtue. I'm just trying to carry out orders, to arrest you two. So please make things easier." The figure revealed his intentions.
"Are we going to fight him? As I recall the Soul Reaper, doesn't have any special ties like the darkness and virtue side." Lily whispered in Poppy's ear.
"I know that too. But what, are you willing to be captured and judged yourself? Don't you forget, the purpose of the two of us even getting together with you and throwing away my ego was to escape from those bastards. I'm not willing to be ordered around!" Poppy retorted coldly.
Lily knew very well that her opponent was not someone to talk to, when it came to self-esteem. The pride in her heart was so high, it was no surprise that she didn't like the idea of someone bossing her around.
"I know very well your mindset. Alright then, you can leave. Let me stay here, I know that a chase like this won't just end," Lily said firmly. "Just leave me here. Don't feel like I'm doing this just for you, I'm doing this so that one of us can break free from these terrifying chains."
Poppy growled. "But Lily, I am also unwilling to see you make such an unforgivable mistake. I'm worried about your emotional decision," Poppy said in a serious tone.
Lily pondered for a moment, considering Poppy's words that made sense. Perhaps she was being too emotional in making this decision. She decided to listen to Poppy's advice.
"I will consider acting wisely. Thank you, Poppy," Lily said finally.
Poppy smiled bitterly. They both knew how difficult it was to deal with a situation like this. She could have just left Lily but, she realized that her choice would only end badly.
"I can't! I can't leave you!" Poppy tightened her grip on Lily. "Everything will end badly, if one of us ends up."
Lily was surprised to hear Poppy's words. Was this a sign of a change that Poppy was showing?
"Poppy?" Lily felt scared and confused. They had been through so much together. They were best friends since childhood and had supported each other in every difficult situation.
However, right now, Poppy looked different. There was desperation in her eyes, and her voice sounded full of emotion. Lily felt like something was going on behind those words. She felt that Poppy was trying to protect her without revealing all the details.
"Poppy, what's going on?" Lily asked softly.
Poppy looked at Lily with love and worry in her eyes, as if she wanted to protect her from something she didn't know. "Lily, I can't tell you everything right now. But trust me, if one of us leaves, everything will fall apart."
Lily felt more and more confused. Why did they have something to hide? In the midst of her confusion and fear, she also felt trust in Poppy. She knew that Poppy wouldn't say this without a good reason.
However, Lily didn't want to lose her friend and didn't want anything to ruin their relationship. She felt like there was pressure to make an important decision right now.
"But Poppy, what should we do? Should I go? Or should you?" Lily asked in a trembling voice.
Poppy grasped Lily's hand tighter. "Lily, we have to find a way for us to stay together. I believe there is a way out of this situation. We must support each other and fight together."
Lily felt relieved to hear those words. Although the situation was not entirely clear to her, she felt that they were not alone in this struggle. There was someone she could rely on and she would do everything to keep that relationship strong.
"Let's face this together, Poppy," Lily said sincerely. "We're both strong, and we'll find a way to overcome this challenge. I won't leave you."
Poppy smiled widely, and her hand was still tightly holding Lily's. They knew that their destinies were intertwined, and together they could face them with everything they had. They were ready to move forward, to face whatever might come, as long as they were together.
"Come on then! Your wings aren't all brittle yet, are they?" Poppy smiled brightly. It was a rare sight to see Poppy smiling as if to undermine her appearance and her title of darkness.
Lily smiled back. She spread her wings, which she had been keeping. "Of course. You too, don't let those proud wings of yours break because they haven't been used in a long time." And also for the first time, Lily was sarcastic.
"Hm!" Poppy spread her wings wide, and it was clear to see how her feathery, jet-black, four-piece wings were blooming beautifully and elegantly and resiliently. "Come on." She asked for Lily's hand.
Lily nodded and took Poppy's hand. After that, the two of them ran away together.
