Chapter 9: Taking Her Home.

The date went really well, we spoke about ourselves, answering each other's questions and as well telling each other how we feel. I was just direct, I've always been direct, but Gianna did find a way to tell me her true feelings about me after I had already broken the wall by sharing my feelings with her.
I can't believe that this was just our second day meeting each other, but here we are, already done with the first date and possibly hoping for the next soon, I just hope that when that day comes, I would be walking with two feets instead of limping around with one.
“ So you never told me why you choosed football, does it have anything to do with your brother?....”
LoL..... That was a shocking question which got me turning both my head and full body towards her, making her to stop because me too already stopped moving. I wasn't expecting that, why would I make a decision based on my brother's reason?.
“ What do you mean?....”
My tone was quite serious than I wanted it to be, showing that I really don't accept what she had just said. I can see her smile fade a little, giving me that apologetic face like she knew she just made a mistake. Without waiting for me to repeat my question, she immediately came to her rescue, trying to back herself up, widening her smile again like she just wanted to subdue the uncertain tension.
“ Don't get me wrong Jerome..... I'm sorry if I might've sounded rude just now, what I was trying to say is that, your brother choose basketball, so you happened to choose football, does it have to do with anything like you don't want to play in the same sports with him, so there won't be an unhealthy competition when things aren't going as planned?..... I'm sorry if I might've sounded....”
“ No!..... It has nothing to do with him, he just loves basketball just the way I love football, he idolizes few legends of the game, as well as me too, I idolize quite a number of players who has graced the game of football....”
I replied, trying to cover the negative emotions trying to come and ruin our special moment. Checking my wrist watch, it's getting to half past six in the evening, so I guess I am possibly running out of time here. We spent an hour at the fast food, I knew that I should cancel any other schedule I have on a day like this, but this is my rehabilitation, trying to get myself back into full fitness, but that doesn't mean that I wouldn't be taking her back home, rather it will make me to take a cab back home instead, rather than walking.
“ I've never gotten the opportunity to indulge myself into the game of football, maybe I should try looking into it, half of the world loves it, maybe I will too if I try harder....”
“ Believe me beautiful, you will....”
Her home wasn't much of a distance from her work place, so I just followed her up, stopping in front of her door, it was really a good building, just like ours, but the difference is that ours looks more like you're living in a hotel where room services are done by the staffs, but her's looks like a normal building where you just have to go into your own apartment and have your peace, as well as do your room services yourself.
“ Thanks a lot, I really enjoyed my evening...”
She appreciated me, both of us staring into each other's eyes, I guess I should now do the last requirement, seal the day with a kiss. I would love it to be so romantic by stepping closer holding gently the back of her neck as we share the kiss, but holding onto my crutches, that move seems quite impossible from my situation.
“ My hands are occupied beautiful, are you going to leave without a kiss?....”
I asked her, eyes still looking into each other as I was putting on a smile to make her comfortable with this move, knowing that it's still foreign to her. “ I think it's still early for that, we just got to know each other, maybe we should wait until things gets better with your leg.....” I know what she's doing, she's scared, scared to make the move, always the shy one, giving me a temporary excuse that would spare her tonight.
I tried holding back the smile trying to leave my lips, don't want to make her feel awkward or me looking desperate for anything, guess I'll have to spare her then and hope on getting better first. With a nod of my head, I decided to back away, saying my goodbyes which we shared between each other, at least she never allowed me to leave without a hug, holding me in and I couldn't offer the same gesture, scared of losing balance standing with only one leg.
I decided to call Davis first, to know whether he was available, if he is, then I'll ask him whether he could help me with a lift, if he isn't, then I would best take a cab and head home.
Guess he wouldn't always be available then, I took a cab home, on the way, I got few missed calls from Jeffery, I never actually picked because he pisses me off whenever we speak on the phone, he's definitely trying to know of my whereabouts, probably thinking that I might've as well gone to cause trouble outside, even with a broken ankle, he just knows how to get on my nerves.
Stepping inside the house, he wasn't looking like one who was desperate to know of my whereabouts moments ago, what happened?, Why is he suddenly silent and relaxed like he didn't care about where I was coming from?, Am I missing something?.
