4. Good Help

“Eat,” Jack said as he spooned the porridge into Lea's mouth.
Lea stared at Jack, like she was staring at a murder suspect. “I can eat by myself, you don't have to be so nice. Besides, it's my leg that hurts, not my hand. I can still spoon food into my own mouth,” Lea retorted at length.
Jack put back the spoon he used to feed Lea. “I know that too, it's just that I want to help you a little. Can't you accept my help like a cinderella who rejoices when helped by her fairy godmother?”
“What a poor simile. After all, you're a boy, not a girl. I can eat on my own.” Lea didn't care and still didn't want to accept Jack's help.
“If I were a girl, I would definitely be your stepmother. It seems like a lot of fun, if I can order you around and make you not nag like this. I'm being nice you're still nagging I don't care, you're still nagging. It's so hard to deal with you.” Without being asked by anyone Jack spilled all his grievances in front of Lea. It felt like all of his grievances were spilled out just like the noodle soup that soaked Lea's head.
Lea was suddenly flooded with complaints from her husband. She felt like she had noodle soup poured over her head.
“Hey shut up. Why are you complaining all of a sudden? I didn't ask you to help me so you don't have to feel tired like this?” Lea was surprised by Jack's behavior.
Jack then put his hand in front of Lea. “Well, if you don't want to listen to my complaints, I'll ask you for money, shall I?”
“....”
After a bowl of porridge floated towards Jack. But the alert Jack managed to avoid it, and managed to escape.
“Come here Jack!” Lea shouted like a person who experienced a fire disaster.
***
In the evening, Jack went out of the house to the nearest convenience store. He planned to buy some light snacks to keep him up late finishing his office work.
This is how it is to be a corporate citizen. Not working, not getting work but having to be willing to be treated like a horse.
Arriving at the minimarket. Jack immediately looked for his favorite snack. When he got the snack he wanted. His eyes accidentally glanced at the fruit shelf there, he saw a pile of pears that looked fresh.
“Oh I guess I'll have to buy them,” he muttered. Jack remembered that Lea hadn't eaten in a day. Remembering his wife's situation, he had the urge to buy the pears when he saw the big discount sign near the fruit shelf.
Arriving home, Jack immediately put his snack first in his room. Then he went to the kitchen to wash some of the pears he bought earlier. After that he put them on a plate, peeled them and then cut them into pieces that resembled rabbits. After cutting, she brought the pears to Lea's room.
***
“You're telling me to eat again?” Lea looked sarcastically at Jack. She saw him carrying a plate with a pear he had cut into bunny-like pieces.
“Oh sure. I feel sorry for you that's why I brought you this. Eat up Lea, I can't bear to see you not eating, your skinny body is like a skeleton that deserves to be put in a museum.” Jack then took a chair and sat near Lea's bed.
“Are you here to mock me?” It seemed like Lea's high blood pressure was easily triggered again just by hearing Jack's joking words.
Jack sighed heavily. This was the reason why he was actually the laziest to deal with women. But what else could he do, Lea was already his wife and he could only increase his stock of patience when dealing with her.
“Please eat it. Don't you feel sorry for your own body? You barely ate for one day. Please think about your own health well, if you don't want to be helped by me continuously.” This time Jack intended to be more strict with Lea for her own good.
Lea was silent for a moment. Somehow she felt that this time, it was inappropriate to attack Jack with her usual nagging.
So Lea finally picked up the piece of pear and stared at it for a moment. Somehow she felt that the piece of fruit looked so cute. She couldn't believe Jack could cut fruit like this.
“Why don't you eat it? Are you bothered by the shape?” asked Jack curiously as he saw Lea just staring at the pear he had cut. “Do I have to cut a new one in the shape of a kudanil for you to like it?”
“Eh? Your vocabulary is really extraordinarily strange. There's nothing wrong with your pear cut right now. Never mind... I'll eat it so you don't keep bothering me.”
While Lea chewed the pear with a half-sour face, Jack sat on the chair, watching her with a mixed expression of satisfaction and annoyance. “See? It's not that hard, you just need to eat. Pears are good for you, they contain a lot of vitamins.”
Lea bit down hard on her pear, as if the piece of fruit was Jack's head. “Yes, yes, I know. But you don't need to act like an overly concerned doctor, Jack. It's disgusting to see you acting all caring like this. Ewh... you don't have rabies do you?”
Jack raised his eyebrows, smiling sarcastically. “Oh, so I'm a doctor now? Thanks for the impromptu promotion. By the way if you're afraid I have rabies, I'll be the first one to pass my disease on to you.”
Lea sighed, ignoring Jack's sarcastic comment. “Why do you always have to make everything so dramatic? I just want a little room to breathe. Your jokes often sound terrible.”
Jack reached for the remote and turned on the television that was in Lea's elite room, in contrast to her gloomy and simple room, Lea had good facilities in her room. It felt like the house she lived in was showing the disparity of society in real life. “I didn't know that paying excessive attention was such a big deal to you. Maybe I should learn how to be colder to you. Do you know of a course to train a man to be colder in front of women?”
Lea laughed mockingly with a shrug. “If there's such a course, I'd be happy to pay for it for you. It might be the best investment for our inner peace.”
Jack pretended to think hard. “Hmm, a course on being a cool guy. That's an interesting idea. But it seems like it would be difficult for me. I'd rather be a man who has a heart and is able to give attention to many women. Besides, look at you now. You're eating pears happily. That's proof that attention is important.”
Lea stared at Jack with a look that was half hate and half murder. “God where did you learn such horrible words? You should be working as a comedian, not a low-paid office worker like this. You're so annoying.”
Jack laughed out loud and he laughed much bigger than Lea. “I know, and that's the charm that keeps you with me.”
Lea rolled her eyes, and her facial expression looked angry. “That charm of yours is the bane of women. Especially for me after seeing that slutty behavior of yours made me want to bury you alive.” If only Lea could erase her memory she would forget Jack's horrible words that caused her to have a sudden panic attack.
