Chapter 34 XXXIV

LUCIAN'S POV
“That's the crimson's mark on their napes.” My anger flared up as I gazed at the lifeless bodies in front of me.
“They were sent to eliminate her,” Aleksei stated. “No one dares to harm her.” With a snap of his fingers, the corpses disappeared into thin air.
I wanted to retaliate, but it was risky; I couldn't determine who was more dangerous - him or the crimson organization.
My gaze shifted to the closed door where Winter was inside. She didn't show fear or anxiety when she took down one of the assassins. However, when we approached her, she seemed to panic.
Days went by, and it became increasingly challenging for us to reach her. Aleksei had been keeping me from seeing her lately, and no one dared to come near her residence after that incident. Perhaps Aleksei cast a spell; I wasn't sure. Maybe he did it to protect her.
I knew what love looked like when one was in love. I loved Winter like a sister, seeing her only as my sibling. I was determined to protect her, something I failed to do for my sister in the past. However, Aleksei... he loved her. He might not say it, but I knew he loved Winter. I had no intention of taking her away from him since he possessed powers, while I was a mafia member who lost my family in an accident.
Aleksei did everything for her, and I felt a bit irritated when he prevented me from seeing her. He was becoming possessive of her, and I didn't want to challenge him. He could eliminate me with a snap.
I sat quietly on the couch in the living room when my phone rang. I took a deep breath and answered the call.
(Where are you, Lucian?)
I furrowed my brow; my Uncle hadn't contacted me after meeting Winter, so what was this about? (I'm in the Philippines, why?)
(Are you out of your mind?! The Radu family found out that the head you brought wasn't that bastard who killed their daughter!)
I'm screwed.
(Our people are being killed because of you! You messed this up, Lucian! They're going to kill me and you!) He ended the call, and I lay down on the couch.
I no longer cared if the Radu family would come after me. The priority was to restore Winter to her former self, to protect her, even though Aleksei was the one who truly looked after her.
While I rested, a sudden knock on the door startled me. I left the couch and approached the door, opening it wide. An assassin or killer wouldn't knock on the door.
“Who are you?” was the question I received after opening the door widely. “Why are you inside my sister's house?”
“You must be Alistair,” I replied calmly.
He gave me a menacing look and entered. I closed the door and watched as he walked towards Winter's room. “If you lay a hand on her, I'm going to kill you,” he didn't look back at me and opened the door to her room. “And who the hell are you? What are you doing in my sister's room?”
Quietly, I approached Winter’s room and observed how Alistair shot a deadly glare at Aleksei, who remained composed as he sat on the edge of the bed.
Alistair was about to approach Aleksei when Winter suddenly woke up. Her eyes widened in shock, and she jumped from her bed to the corner. “No! Get out! Stay away from me! No!”
She was panicking again, and I avoided making eye contact. I couldn't bear to see her in that state.
“What have you done to her?!” Alistair was about to go towards Winter, but Aleksei stopped him.
“Don't go near her,” Aleksei warned him.
“Damn! She's my sister!”
“She's afraid of us.” When Aleksei uttered those words, Alistair looked at Winter.
“You two better explain everything.” He appeared furious as he left her room, so we followed him and closed her door.
We proceeded to explain everything that had happened. “Fucking bastard! She became like that because of him…!! Damn him!” Alistair was seething with anger and kicked the glass table, causing it to shatter on the floor.
“You killed my fiancee too, and now the Radu family is after our heads,” I said,  calmly seated on the couch.
He glared at me. “Who are you?”
“Lucian Volturi,” I simply answered.
Then he turned his gaze to Aleksei, who was sitting across from me. “And you?”
“I am Aleksei from a different world.”
“Are you joking?! Do you think this is a joke–” Alistair suddenly vanished before us, and seconds later, he reappeared.
“You just witnessed the times that Winter and I spent.” I was quite amazed at how Aleksei remained calm.
Alistair looked at him, appearing to struggle to believe what had transpired.
“I returned for her, but I arrived too late to protect her.”
“You killed Matthew,” Alistair pointed out.
“I did. And I'll eliminate anyone who dares to harm her.” As I mentioned before, he is deeply in love with her. I can't blame him. Winter is undeniably beautiful, but my sister is even more stunning. I won't tell Aleksei that, as he might eliminate me.
“I dislike both of you. I don't care if you're a mafia,” Alistair glared at me before diverting his gaze to Aleksei. “I don't like you either. I have no regard for your magic or your origin. I want my sister to return to her former self. Don't come near her. Do you both understand?”
I nodded, but Aleksei remained silent. “What if I want to see her?” he asked instead.
“You may, but stay 10 feet away from her, the same goes for you, Volturi.”
I thought no one could control Aleksei, that he could overpower Alistair and act as he pleased, but it seemed I was mistaken. After a few minutes of conversation, I simply agreed to everything... even Aleksei accepted Alistair's conditions.
It was time to work together to restore our girl. Our assassin girl. Aleksei’s woman and Alistair’s sister.
