Chapter 113: Afternoon Rain Covers The Path

Almost two o'clock in the afternoon, Nancy had just carried the suitcase down the stairs when Jolie finished her makeup and walked out. Seeing Jolie's eyes starting to turn red, Nancy quickly hugged her to comfort her.
“All the mascara will come off now, if you cry, I'll cry too.”
“Who's crying? I accidentally poked my eye with eyeliner, so I felt a little uncomfortable.”
After saying that, Jolie quickly pushed Nancy away, grabbed the suitcase, and pulled it towards the door so that her friend could not see the expression on her face.
“Have a safe trip, call us when you get there.” Mason smiled softly, speaking softly.
“Have a safe trip.” The little accountant couldn't hide her emotions.
Nancy choked up, unable to say anything, just pursed her lips, nodded, looked around the small space one last time, and then quickly walked away.
She had not left yet but she already missed this place, she was afraid that if she stood here a little longer, she would not be able to hold back her tears.
The car drove through the streets and stopped in front of the city cemetery. Before leaving, Nancy wanted to visit Dylan's parents' graves once. Even though a lot had happened, she still loved and was grateful to them.
“Are you coming back quickly? I'll wait and take you to the airport.” Jolie turned to Nancy and asked.
“You just go do your work and then go to Global Group.  I can take a taxi later. If you're late, they won't be happy.”
“Okay, goodbye. Call me when you get there.”
“I know, good luck.”
Jolie tried to smile and drove away. Waiting until the car was out of sight, Nancy went deep into the cemetery, looking for Camila's grave and her husband's grave.
After lighting the incense, she stood still and looked for a long time. Above her head, dark clouds swirled, and the sound of leaves rustling in the wind seemed to be singing a sad love song.
Salty tears fell on her lips. Once again, she had betrayed Dylan and abandoned him. But if she didn't do that, what else could she do? Feeling guilty made her unable to walk to him anymore.
The wind grew stronger and stronger, and the rain also fell lightly, calling back happy and sad memories. She felt as if everything had just happened yesterday. Her and his painful love story was witnessed by the four-season rain, breaking up and coming together and then breaking up again.
The incense stick had not yet burned out when it went out, the surrounding space was tinged with a sad and desolate color. Wiping away the tears and the raindrops on her face, she pulled her suitcase and turned back. If the rain this afternoon could erase all the memories in her heart, that would be great.
The taxi slowly moved to take Nancy away from the cemetery. She turned her head to look behind and only saw a white curtain of rain covering the long road.
It's cold. She wondered if an old wound was tormenting Dylan. Is he still in pain or not?
“Dylan, I'm sorry, please forget me and live a good life.” She whispered in tears.
At this time, the clock hands were also moving towards three o'clock in the afternoon. Dylan turned off the computer, walked into the break room, looked in the mirror, fixed his hair and clothes, then stared at the phone and waited.
At exactly four o'clock in the afternoon, the receptionist called, informing him that someone from Lucky Company had just arrived and Paul had guided her to the meeting room.
Taking a deep breath to calm down, Dylan quickly walked out, feeling as nervous as the first day he confessed to her.
Pushing the door open, Dylan saw a girl in a red dress, her hair down to her waist, standing facing the window. He was happy and was about to call Nancy's name when she turned around, making him extremely disappointed.
“Hello chairman, my name is Jolie, I am a sales employee of Lucky company.”
“Hello, I thought Miss Nancy would come.”
“She was busy with work so the company sent me instead. Do you mind?”
Dylan shook his head, told Jolie to sit down, then pushed the prepared documents towards her, briefly summarized the progress of the order, and said that he intended to let Lucky Company carry out all the new equipment procurement packages for Global Group in the future.
“Doing these things will be faster. You just need to deliver the goods and get paid, not as difficult as construction. Do you have any comments?”
“No, thank you very much.”
“Nancy… what is she busy with? Do you know when she will be free?”
The sudden question unrelated to work made Jolie confused and not know what to say. Dylan's favor to Lucky Company had already touched her to the point of almost crying, now looking at his eyes waiting for an answer, she felt so heartbroken.
“Actually... Chairman. Nancy will fly to country Y today, I don't know when she will return. The flight is four-thirty this afternoon. You…”
Before Jolie finished speaking, Dylan quickly stood up and ran away. She panicked and chased after him because she was worried that the past would happen again.
As soon as she left the room, she bumped into Paul and fell flat on her face. Paul quickly bent down to help her up and asked in a panic.
“Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?”
“Don't worry about me, hurry up and chase after the chairman, don't let him drive, hurry up.”
Hearing Jolie scream, Paul panicked and let go of her hand, and ran to the elevator. As soon as he got to the ground floor, he immediately rushed to the garage. He wondered why the elevator couldn't slide down from the eighth floor right to the gate so he could stop Dylan quickly. Luckily, just as Dylan unlocked the car, Paul caught up with him.
“Boss, where are you going? Let me drive.”
“To the airport.”
“Yes sir.”
Paul took the key from Dylan and hurriedly opened the back door for him to get in. Then he hurriedly ran to the driver's seat, started the car, and sped towards the main gate.
The rain was getting heavier, the sky was pitch black, the afternoon was getting darker, and the lights of the busy traffic painted the city road blurred in the water.
Dylan looked at his watch anxiously. The airport was only a short distance away, but if the car kept moving like this, he was afraid it would be too late. After observing the front and back for a while, he spoke up to his assistant.
“Stop the car for me.”
“But boss…”
“I told you to stop the car.”
“Yes.”
Dylan hurriedly took off his coat, afraid that if it got wet it would slow him down. Paul had just turned around, and before he could remind his boss to bring an umbrella, his boss had already jumped out of the car.
Paul was so worried that he almost had a fever, but he didn't know what to do because he couldn't just leave the car in the middle of the road and follow his boss, and there was a long line of cars waiting behind him.
The rumble of thunder brought with it a flash of lightning that cut across the sky. The trees on the side of the road were torn apart by the wind.
Despite the pouring rain, Dylan forgot the cold and pain in his bones that were tormenting him, tried to pass through each car, jumped onto the sidewalk, and ran forward.
The wet white shirt stuck to his body, making him look even thinner. The strong winds blew across, making him feel dizzy. He couldn't just lose Nancy like that, he didn't want to be alone for the rest of his life because if it wasn't her, he wouldn't be able to be with anyone else.
Even though there were times when he resented her, in the end, he still devoted his whole heart to her, wishing to be by her side as a natural thing that could never be changed, like the moon waning and then becoming full, like the river returning to the sea.
He admitted that he was no longer young enough to wait and look forward to. He didn't know since when he felt helpless and disappointed in himself.
