Chapter 128: Rain of Love
After dinner, Dylan helped Nancy clean up and then sat by the window together watching the rain fall. The rain tonight brought him and her so much grace, the sound of the rain comforted, soothed, compensated for the loss and hurt but did not erase the burning love in the couple's hearts.
“Honey, you're here, but why didn't I see you when I visited your mother's grave? I didn't see you on your mother's death anniversary either.” Dylan asked gently.
“I didn't dare go in those days, I had to avoid you. People say the most dangerous place is the safest place, isn't that true?” She looked at him, winking mischievously.
“Nancy Pelosi.”
After saying that, Dylan quickly slid his hands into Nancy's sides and teased her. She was so ticklish that she giggled and begged him to let her go.
Seeing her laugh so much that she was about to faint, he stopped teasing her and gently hugged her from behind. His kiss slowly slid from her hair to her ear, to her cheek, and stopped on her small, pretty lips. Her eyelids were half-closed, happily accepting his loving gesture towards her.
While she was infatuated, the familiar yet strange scent suddenly woke her up. She quickly pushed him away and grabbed his hand to look at it. Just as she suspected, his long, slender fingers were stained yellow with cigarette smoke.
“Dylan, do you smoke?”
“Yes.”
“You never smoked before. When did you start smoking?”
“Ah… since the day you left. That day, as soon as I heard Jolie say that, I went straight to the airport to look for you, but I couldn't find you. You know, the time after that was really difficult for me.”
“Dylan, can you quit smoking in the future? Now that you have me by your side.”
“More than a year, it's become a habit, it's very difficult to quit.” He frowned at her.
“So what should I do? Smoking is very harmful to your health.” Her face fell.
“Okay. How about this? Whenever I crave a cigarette, I'll kiss you instead of smoking. This is the only way. I usually only smoke at night.”
As soon as he finished speaking, he quickly bent down and kissed her lips. The endless kiss seemed to shorten the days of separation. His hands patiently unbuttoned each button.
Nancy felt her whole body go limp in his arms. Her mind vaguely drifted along with the rhythm of the waves of love. It wasn't until he picked her up that she regained consciousness.
“You…”
“It's late at night, let's go to sleep.”
“But we...”
“Darling, as long as I'm next to you, every night will be my wedding night.”
Nancy nodded shyly, not daring to look into those deep eyes. The small room was no longer deserted tonight. The boat had docked, his urgent, passionate, caressing kisses warmed her body and heart.
Her slender hands gently ran through the man's hair, letting the scent of their heads blend and listening to his heartbeat and his whisper of love.
Outside, the rain was still falling, the sound of the rain was sometimes coquettish, sometimes caressing, flirtatious, mixed with the sound of thunder, going on all night long, soaking in a path of love, dispelling the lingering pain. The summer night rain seemed to be playing the smooth, passionate melody of a love song.
When Nancy suddenly woke up, it was still dark. Turning to look at the person next to her, she smiled slightly with satisfaction. Dylan's face looked so gentle when he slept.
Her fingers moved from the top of his forehead to the bridge of his nose and stopped on the edge of his lips. Tears suddenly overflowed from the corner of her delicate eyes.
Seeing Dylan stir slightly, Nancy quickly snuggled her head into his arms. This feeling was called happiness. The romantic, warm dream she had longed for had come true.
She was lying in his arms, listening to the sound of the rain on the roof, the sound of the wind rustling outside the porch, waiting for his warmth to spread, bringing her into a beautiful dream.
After the rain, the dawn of the weekend is brighter and fresher in the yellow light of the morning. Dylan held Nancy's hand tightly, walking along the long path leading to the cemetery. The pink grass flowers still wet with the night rain swayed to welcome the lovers back.
Nancy used a towel to wipe away the remaining water stains on the tombstone. During the time she settled in this province, she often came here to take care of the grave, pull weeds, and chat with her mother.
Thinking about the fact that she would soon follow him back to the city, she suddenly felt sad.
“Nancy, from now on, every weekend, I will take you here to visit your mother's grave.”
The gentle voice of the man next to her rang out, making her nose sting, and then tears of joy also fell. She didn't expect Dylan could read her mind. It's great that she has him in her life. He is her soulmate lover.
Gently holding her hand, he looked at the deceased's face and spoke in a low voice.
“Wife's mother. Your son-in-law and daughter are here to visit you. I apologize for not taking good care of Nancy in the past. I promise from now and forever, I will try to love her with all I have. Believe me.”
“Mom. I have found a very excellent son-in-law for you. Please bless us, Mom.”
Seeing his lover about to cry again, he quickly squeezed her small hand to stop her emotions.
Leaving the cemetery, the two walked together on the road stretching with pink and purple grass flowers. The peaceful scene was as beautiful as a painting. Nancy clung to his hand, leaning on him to let him lead her, she felt her heart light and clear like the clear sky after the rain.
From now on, she doesn't need to fight against the storms outside anymore, he will be the sturdy door that protects her for the rest of her life.
“Honey, I want to smoke again.” Dylan said.
“What? It's morning right now.”
“It seems like I crave cigarettes all the time now.”
Nancy quickly let go of Dylan's hand and looked up. She didn't know that time could also make his face so thick. It seemed like the rest of her life would be very difficult.
Seeing his perfect face leaning close to her, she quickly stepped back and ran away. Behind her, the sound of him calling her name echoed, and in front, her laughter echoed throughout a large grass field.
In the afternoon, after packing her things, Nancy followed Dylan to the car to return to the city. Initially, Nancy planned to go to the company next week to submit a resignation letter according to the company's regulations, but Dylan called Cara to tell her.
And of course, the female director agreed in just a few notes, saying that the remaining salary would be quickly transferred by the accountant directly to the account of the future wife of the Global Group's president.
When she reached the gate, she turned her head to look at the small house. A year and a half was not too long, but the land here had held her back. Sunset always makes everything quiet and people's hearts calm down.
“Let's go, we'll come back often.” Dylan gently stroked her hair.
Nancy smiled slightly and got into the car. Through the windshield, she saw everything familiar gradually recede and disappear.
When the car arrived at the villa gate, it was almost nine o'clock in the evening. As soon as they entered the house, Dylan quickly moved all of their belongings upstairs.
Looking around the room, Nancy felt like the events of the past year were like a passing cloud. If she hadn't chosen to leave that day, just followed him and stayed with him, the two of them wouldn't have wasted so much time.
“Honey, tomorrow on the way to work, please take me to Jolie's house.” Nancy hugged Dylan and whispered
“I'll go with you. Isn't it time for you to introduce your fiance to your friends?” He gently pinched her nose.
“Yes. Thank you, Dylan.”
