Chapter 17: The Haunted Nursery The Ocean's Legacy was still reeling from the last series of hauntings. The once vibrant and luxurious cruise ship was now a floating nightmare, filled with whispers of the supernatural. Josue and Larisa were now on high alert, responding to new reports of ghostly encounters. One evening, as they were walking through the main corridor, they heard the frantic cries of a couple. "Our children! We can't find our children!" a woman screamed, her voice echoing off the walls. Josue and Larisa rushed towards the sound, finding a distressed couple near the entrance to the nursery. The mother, tears streaming down her face, clung to her husband's arm. "Please, help us! They were just here, and now they're gone!" Josue tried to calm them. "We're here to help. What happened exactly?" The father, pale and shaking, stammered, "We left them in the nursery for a moment. When we came back, the room was empty. But we heard... laughter. Ghostly laughter." Larisa exchanged a worried look with Josue. "Stay here," she told the couple. "We'll find your children." They cautiously entered the nursery, the door creaking ominously as it closed behind them. The room was eerily quiet, toys scattered across the floor, and tiny chairs tipped over as if the children had left in a hurry. A chill ran down Josue’s spine as they walked further in. “Josue, look,” Larisa whispered, pointing towards a corner where a small rocking chair was moving on its own. As they approached, the faint sound of children giggling grew louder. Josue shone his flashlight around the room, revealing nothing but shadows. Suddenly, the giggling stopped, replaced by a cold, sinister voice. “Why have you come here?” Larisa grabbed Josue’s arm. “Did you hear that?” Before he could respond, the room grew colder, and a group of ghostly children materialized, their eyes glowing with an eerie light. They were led by a young girl, who looked at Josue and Larisa with an unsettling smile. “You’re not welcome here.” Josue took a step forward, trying to keep his voice steady. “We’re looking for the children who were in this nursery. Have you seen them?” The ghostly girl’s smile widened, her voice dripping with malice. “They belong to us now.” The ghostly children began to move closer, their faces contorted with anger. Josue and Larisa backed away, realizing the danger they were in. “We need to find a way out,” Josue whispered urgently. Larisa nodded, her eyes darting around the room. “There, the door!” she pointed. As they made a move towards the exit, the ghostly children attacked. Their tiny hands turned into sharp claws, and they lunged at Josue and Larisa with terrifying speed. Josue grabbed a nearby chair, using it to fend off the spectral attackers. “Stay behind me, Larisa!” Larisa picked up a toy bat and swung it at the ghostly figures, her heart pounding in her chest. “We need to find a way to stop them!” Josue pushed back against the relentless attacks, his mind racing. “The toys! Maybe they’re connected to the ghosts!” Larisa caught on quickly. “If we destroy the toys, maybe the ghosts will lose their power!” They began smashing the toys, hoping it would weaken the ghostly children. But the spirits only seemed to grow angrier, their attacks becoming more vicious. “It’s not working!” Josue yelled, frustration and fear mingling in his voice. The ghostly girl laughed, a chilling sound that echoed through the room. “You cannot stop us. We will take you too!” Josue and Larisa were driven to the brink, struggling to keep the spirits at bay. Just as it seemed they were about to be overwhelmed, the door to the nursery burst open, and the distressed couple from earlier rushed in. “No! Stay back!” Josue shouted, but it was too late. The ghostly children turned their attention to the parents, who were frozen in terror. The mother screamed as the ghostly children swarmed them, their clawed hands tearing at their flesh. The father tried to shield his wife, but he too was quickly overpowered. Josue and Larisa watched in horror as the couple was brutally attacked, their screams filling the air. Desperation drove Josue to think of another plan. “The pictures! Look at the walls, Larisa! The drawings!” The nursery walls were adorned with childish drawings, depicting scenes of the ship and its young occupants. Among them was a picture of the ghostly girl holding hands with the other children. “That’s it!” Larisa shouted. “The drawings must be the key!” Josue and Larisa began tearing down the drawings, hoping it would disrupt the spirits. As they ripped each picture from the wall, the ghostly children screamed in agony, their forms flickering and fading. The ghostly girl’s smile turned into a snarl. “You cannot take them from me!” She lunged at Josue, her claws aiming for his throat. Larisa grabbed a drawing of the ghostly girl and tore it in half. The girl let out a blood-curdling scream, her form disintegrating into mist. The other ghostly children followed, their screams echoing through the room as they vanished. The nursery was suddenly quiet, the oppressive atmosphere lifting. Josue and Larisa stood panting, their hearts racing from the ordeal. The couple lay on the floor, their bodies bloodied and lifeless. “We were too late,” Larisa said, her voice trembling with sorrow. Josue knelt beside the parents, his fists clenched in anger and grief. “We need to find a way to stop this for good. We can’t let anyone else die.” Larisa nodded, her resolve hardening. “We’ll find a way, Josue. We have to.” As they left the nursery, the memory of the ghostly children and their brutal attack lingered in their minds. The Ocean’s Legacy was a ship haunted by a dark past, and its secrets were far from being fully uncovered. But Josue and Larisa were determined to bring an end to the haunting, no matter the cost.
