Chapter 12 Crush

ELIZ'S POV
We're back at Aunt Light's house because my mom wanted to visit Ruhan. You'd think Ruhan was in a serious condition, but he's perfectly fine.
"Light, how did Ruhan become a gangster? Even my nephew Nathan didn't tell me," my mom asked Aunt Light.
Tss, that Nathan is so annoying. He didn't even tell me he's a gangster. If it weren't for the commotion on campus, I wouldn't have found out. He’s got a reckoning coming.
"Oh Ailyn, I don't even know where Ruhan got that idea. One day, he just said he wanted to be one," Aunt Light replied, shaking her head.
See? Ruhan's out of his mind. I thought Aunt Light and Uncle Dark were also gangsters, which is why Ruhan became one.
"Mommy, don't you have something to do at the airline?" I suddenly said, and my mom glanced at her watch.
Her eyes widened as she realized she's late.
"Eliz, stay here for now. I'll pick you up later, okay?" she said.
"Don't bother picking her up, Ailyn. I'll have Ruhan take her home," Aunt Light suggested, and my eyes widened.
What was that? Hello! Nathan can take me home, but I feel like giving him a hard time for keeping this a secret from me.
I didn't even notice my mom had already left. See? She’s so comfortable leaving me here.
"By the way, Auntie, how long has Ruhan been a gangster?" I suddenly asked, making her think.
"About five years, I think?" she replied uncertainly.
Wow, that's a long time. So, Nathan has been living in the gangster world for five years and didn’t say anything? What a great cousin.
Aunt Light left for a bit because she had to cook dinner, and I decided to explore.
Ruhan's house is huge, with lots of twists and turns, so I might get lost.
I was drawn to a room with a black door. I entered and found various weapons.
There were guns, different types of swords, and more. I know how to use a gun, but I’ve never carried one for self-defense.
I was about to leave when I bumped into someone.
"Sorry—Yohan?" I was surprised to see Yohan, Ruhan's brother, in front of me.
Gosh! He's so handsome and kind. Unlike Ruhan, who's handsome but has a devilish attitude.
"What are you doing here?" Yohan asked, looking around. Maybe he was checking if I was alone.
"Uh, just exploring," I answered briefly.
"Come on, Nathan has been looking for you," he said and turned towards the door.
I followed him until we reached the living room, where the four guys were.
"Cousin!" Nathan called out, but I just glared at him. Hmp!
"We're heading out, Ruhan. See you tomorrow," Shin and Kean said goodbye.
"Okay, I'll update you when we need to pick up the new guns from the US," Ruhan said.
US, huh?
Shin and Kean left. I sat down on the single couch and looked at the three of them.
"Hey, cousin! I'm sorry!" Nathan whined and tried to look pitiful. You're not fooling me with your pity act!
No matter what, this guy is so childish. Tss.
"Tss, whatever. I'm going home! Bye!" I said, stood up, and grabbed my sling bag from the table.
"Who's going to take you home?" Yohan asked, surprising me. He’s concerned!
"No need, I can go home on my own," I said.
"Cousin, let me—"
"No!" I shouted and gave him a fierce look.
"Eliz, I'll take you home—" Yohan started but was interrupted by Ruhan placing a hand on his shoulder.
The brothers stared at each other as if having a silent conversation. What's going on with these two?
"Hey, you look like you're about to fight," I pointed out, and they looked away from each other.
"Ruhan will take you home, Eliz. It's getting late," Yohan said, looking at Ruhan.
"Huh? I thought Yohan was—"
"Let's go," Ruhan said and pushed me outside, cutting me off.
What the? It's like Ruhan is kicking me out of their house. He pushes so hard. I didn't even get to say goodbye to his brother.
I didn't say another word and got into Ruhan's car. Their house is quite far from ours since we live in different villages. It's about a 30-minute drive.
"Ruru, can I ask you something?" I said, and he looked at me, giving me a puzzled look.
"Ruru? Where did you get that name?" he asked, seeming annoyed.
"Ruru? It’s just shorter than Ruhan. So, Ruru it is," I said, smiling sweetly.
"Tss, you're full of nonsense," he said and continued driving.
That was a joke. I was just testing how short his patience is. But seriously, Ruru is what I’ll call him.
Ruru is cute, right?
"How did you become a gangster?" I suddenly asked.
"Do you really want to know?" he said, emotionless.
"Please...???" I pleaded, and he sighed.
"Back then, we just talked about entering their world," he explained.
"So you mean...you just decided to join the gangster world? I thought being a gangster ran in your family," I said.
"But didn't your parents get mad? What you did was dangerous," I said.
"At first, they were angry, but in the end, they supported me. It took five months to convince them," he said.
"Who suggested to Nathan that you should join this crazy thing?" I asked.
"You don't need to know," he said.
"But why—"
"We're here," Ruhan said.
"Tss, that's unfair!" I said, getting out of the car. I opened the door myself because I was annoyed with him. Is it hard to answer my question?
I feel like he's hiding something from me. I mean, it's like the details he told me are missing something? He’s keeping a secret from me.
"Eliz," Ruhan called out, but I ignored him and walked away.
I was just a few steps away when he spoke again.
"Eliz, not Yohan," he said, started the car, and quickly drove off.
What does he mean by not Yohan? Could it be...wahhh!! Does he know I have a crush on his brother?! It's just a crush, anyway!
