DOC 17

DOC 17: DISTRACTION & TRAP
Note: DOC - Deck of Cards ~×~ DCC - Deck of Cards Class
THIRD PERSON'S POV
The usual silence of a library is too different from the silence of the School Library right now.
The kind of silence with overflowing tension.
Some of the DCCs arrive at the School Library at exactly 01 PM. There are no other people inside but them. It's as if they are facing each other as enemies in a war.
They are facing each other at a circular table. They are only the DCC girls.
Aqua is sitting beside the Queen of the Aces. Gunreigh Chi Deluxxe, on her right. That's why she can't be put into place because she feels like she's not allowed to breathe whenever Gunreigh will be put beside her.
"Why does your sister so serious and cold?" She then asks Morri on her left who's currently resting her back on her seat while her eyes are closed.
"Ask her," the only words she says to shut Aqua off from talking to her.
Aqua's eyes widen and her heart beats faster than usual. She closes her eyes to stop herself from pinching Morri's cheeks because of her annoying remarks.
'Why did I even asks her?!' She asks herself in her mind, cautious of the strong tension building around them.
"What do we have here?" Aqui then breaks the tension as she glances at all of them.
Tiana is sitting right beside Morri, then goes after Sorcha, Naraka, Aqui, and Haven who just came back from an emergency in their home, then Gunreigh and Aqua.
Out of sixteen, eight members of DCC are the only people Morri asks to talk with regarding the recent issue.
"Uhm, to start with the real agenda, may I speak?" Aqua raises her right hand a bit, hesitating.
All eyes are on her. She feels like she's on a hot seat or in the middle of her execution.
Aqui raises her left eyebrow while looking at her and rolls her eyes after. Aqua gulps down the lump in her throat because the people around her are too intimidating for the likes of her.
"Feel free, Ms. Pres. Besides, it's your order to call for our presence," Aqua bit her lower lip as the tension slowly disappears in her system.
There's something in Haven Thorne that can easily calm her. Or is it because she's close with Von Alas that she feels like she can trust her.
Aqua smiles at her and clears her throat.
She suddenly regains her confidence as she composes herself. Being a Council President for years, she learned to act according to what situation she was in. Whether she needs to act serious and smart or act innocent until things slowly peel off their cover.
"We have this game that we always play when we were kids. It's called 'The Latter'. All you have to do is to answer my question, YES or NO. I have sent you a file to be your answer sheets-like. Once you click YES or NO, it'll notify my tab,"
Aqua raise her gray tab to all of them and put it on the table while she leans forward. Elbows on top of it as she looks at each of them with her serious expression that she rarely sports. It's as if she's possessed by the thought that she's there as their Council President.
"Since Morri already told you to bring your gadgets, I hope there's no problem with that. And to answer your hidden questions, I just need to confirm something that's why I suggest doing this game first before going to the real deal. I only have three questions and I think it's enough for me to know if my intuition is right or wrong,"
The others are only listening carefully to Aqua as if they sense that she's already serious. Normally, she's a sweet-classy President of the whole student body so seeing her with her President aura, they don't have any choice but to keenly listen.
Even if some of them have questions, they keep silent. Even Queen Aqui who always hates Aqua Cenna whenever they see each other remains silent.
She knows, she needs to act as one of the Queens. Her responsibility comes first rather than her personal grudge.
"So, shall we start?" Aqua silently glances at each of the DCC members.
There's Morri who's now sitting with her back straight on her chair, Tiana with her eyeglasses on, Sorcha playing with her ear piercings, and Naraka with her bored look. Aqui in her serious mode on, Haven and Gunreigh with their serious yet cold aura surrounding them.
Aqua then mysteriously yet secretly flashes her devilish smirk.
'Hm, then let's start with the game!'

AQUA LAVERDA
The Latter.
It's a game that we have always played before since we were young. You all know that I grew up with most of the DCC members and I bet they know my secret agenda as to why I propose this game before we talk regarding the recent incidents.
It's to catch the big fish hiding in the dark.
The hidden objective of this game is to gather some hints, or better yet, catch the real target of this game.
Those who will answer yes, may or may not be guilty of something. And if their answer is no, they are likely to be the real 'innocent' here.
Simple yet tricky.
"I have sent you the first question. You may now click the answer you choose. Reminder, I need your honesty with this," I simply tap my four fingers at the back of my tab as my thumb is pressed in front of it.
I'm comfortably leaning my back on my seat when Sorcha raises her hand. I look at her and fix myself but I didn't change my position.
"How about you?" She asks.
I smile as I expected that from any of them. It's just that, Sorcha is the only one who's too focused on things that she's always curious about.
As they say, curiosity can kill a cat. It's their call if they are one of those cats.
"I'm excluded," I simply answer her and go back to read the first question on the screen of my tab.
I bet she's itching to ask why but she can't. I'll explain things to her once it's done.
'ARE YOU RIGHT?'
"What's with this question?" This time, it's Tiana Victoria who asks.
I shake my head and silently laugh in my place. I glare at Morri who nudges me on my shoulder.
"You look insane," she mutters then goes back in front of her tab.
I roll my eyes at her. She really ruins my good mood whenever she has a chance to do it.
"Just Yes and a No, Tiana. I don't accept questions as an answer," I say that to also inform the others.
I felt my tab vibrates, meaning they all are done answering my question.
"Next question," I say as I click 'enter'.
The place now is so silent. Only their taps on their screen are the only sounds that I can hear aside from their breathing.
They seem to focus on my questions. I bet they're too confused too. I just want to laugh at their faces.
I stop myself from releasing a giggle. They might think I'm only making fun of them and I can't afford to face their wrath after that. So, I'll take cautious for now.
My next question is, 'ARE YOU WRONG?'
Deep inside me, I'm already laughing my ass out. I mean, reading my questions make me realize that it's too ridiculous for a question in times like this. But behind those questions, it has a deep reason for it.
So deep that you don't want to find out in the end.
I look at them furrowing their brows over my eyes. My head's still facing my tab but my eyes are on them. They seem like they want to open my head and check my brain if it's still okay because of my questions.
Well, they can't do that. Haha.
"Next!" I secretly flash a smirk for a second before looking at them after clicking 'enter' to finally send them the final question.
'ARE YOU INNOCENT?'
"You're really stupid, Aqua. Tsk," I glance at Morri when I hear her murmurs something.
"You're saying something?" I ask her, whispering.
Pouting my lips, I shake my head when she doesn't want to answer me. Tsk. Morri will always be Morri.
"You're all done, I see. Okay! Just give me a minute," I tell them as I check their answer.
I lift my left eyebrow when I see a different answer. Out of six, one of them had a really different answer. It makes my lips form a smile.
It's not sweet, but a kind of smile that will make you question your life.
'Yes, I am,"
"Of course not,"
"Yes,"
It's still right but why does it feel like it's not?
We can't tell.
I close my tab and face them all who are looking at me and waiting for what I'm about to say next.
"Well-," I was cut off by a phone ringing.
I clear my throat and look at each one of them to see who owns the phone ringing.
"I'm sorry. I'll take this. Excuse me," we all watch Naraka leave the library while she takes the call.
It makes me suddenly smile because of that. I mean, she looks cute.
Yea. Just believe what I said, people.
"Shall we continue?" I ask them when Naraka is already out of our sight.
I sigh and slide my right hand into my pants pocket to reach for the piece of paper that I get from Morri earlier.
"Have a look at this," I tell them and push the paper in the middle of the table.
I cross my arms over my chest as I watch Sorcha reaches the paper at the table. Gunreigh and Haven on my side remain silent as I can already see Aqui's sudden irritation in her eyes.
When I look at her, she glares at me.
I blink my eyes and simply move closer to Morri. Aqui's really scary. What is her problem, really?
"Before that, what's with the game?" I glance to my right when Tiana Victoria asks me while Sorcha is confusingly staring at the piece of paper in her hands.
"Well, if you know how the game works, you will know the answer," I nonchalantly tell her as if it's already on my mind that it's what I need to answer her.
"What does that game really means?" Now, Aqui's asking.
I shake my head and shrug my shoulders as I sigh, leaning my back in my chair.
"I'm sorry guys, but it's just a distraction,"
After I tell them that, a series of gasps resonates the whole place as I see their shocked expressions.
Well, it's just Sorcha and Tiana who reacted. The others? I bet they already knew that one.
We always play that game whenever we have things that we want to know without their knowledge. And that's how I came up with those ridiculous questions. It has two objectives though.
Distraction and Trap.
To distract and trap someone.
What happened earlier was both a distraction and a trap. I bet you already have hints of who's the target of the game. Am I right?
Well, you're smart. Kiddin'.
"Distraction? You mean...," I look at Sorcha intently in her eyes when she trails off.
Suddenly hesitates to continue what she's about to say.
"Yup! I trap Naraka with the questions and distract her using a phone call," I shrug my shoulders and shake my head.
Sorcha's eyes widen in shock and disbelief while Tiana, just can't believe what she heard from me. Aqui's now staring at me even though I am not looking at her, I can still feel her intense gaze. Come on! I have a reason for it.
"Why? Are you accusing her?" I raise a brow when Aqui asks me that.
I look at her as a thought pops up in the back of my mind.
'I also want to ask you Aqui. Are you suspecting me? Just like before,'
"I'm not, Queen Aqui..., Darragon. It just happens, Naraka Gale Laviente has something to confess and she asked us to meet her at the DOC rooftop at exactly 08 PM later,"
I look at them with a serious expression as I tell them one thing that causes them to gasp in shock.
"Does 'Clove Lascova' ring a bell?"
