|THIRD PERSON'S POV|
___×××××___
"Brother, I'm scared...,"
A little girl was silently sobbing beside her brother as her hands were rightly covering her mouth not to cause noise that can trigger the group of men roaming around their Mansion.
The Laviente's Mansion.
"Shh, baby. It'll be alright, hm? I'm here, don't be scared. Your brother is here," crying, the little girl nodded her head.
"Who are those bad people, brother?" She whispered, almost barely making a sound but it seemed like her brother understand what she meant to ask.
He moved a bit to cover his sister as he tucked the hair behind her ears.
"They're just here to look for something, Gale. We just have to hide for a while not to disturb them okay? So, don't create any noise. you understand?" He softly explained it the way his sister could understand.
Uno was having a hard time processing everything that has happened in just a blink of his eye. His brother, Loco was with their parents when they visited Underground. He didn't expect that Assassins would trespass and invade their mansion.
It was like they planned it all this time.
"Hmm," she nodded like a kitten who was too obedient to her master without asking what and why.
Uno glared at nothing particular. He was upset because he couldn't do anything to escape that night. That as Gale's brother, he couldn't even bring himself to protect his little sister. But he put into his mind that no matter what, he would die protecting his sister.
That was his oath as Gale's brother.
"It's a good thing no one's here," a voice almost had their breath cut in a second.
Gale tightened her grip on Uno's shirt while hugging him. She was already near passing out and even if she wanted so much to just blackout and escape what was happening, she couldn't.
Uno was scared but not for himself. He was scared for Gale's life. He couldn't even remember how he came this far but he promised to himself that they would go out from here, safe.
"You're not going to be that stupid, right Spade? I can feel like someone's still here, hiding...,"
Uno gulped down the lump in his throat that was making him not breathe properly. He hugged Gale tightly as if someone would try to steal her from him. He was biting his lower lips that he had tasted the metal blood-like taste on it.
"Now, that was new! I didn't know you had a brain Art. You're like what? A damn useless packer in the deck!" Waves of laughter vibrated around the place.
"Damn, dude! That was lit!"
Their laughter continued but the man they called Art just continued opening doors to doors to see if there were people who were hiding in the dark. As what he always believed, his guts shouldn't be ignored like that.
And those who mocked him? They were only a bunch of fools, in his mind.
"What if they will find us?" Gale asked, whispering as usual not to make those people outside her room notice their presence.
"Shh, just wait for them to go. Okay?"
Without a choice, Gale imaginarily zipped her mouth for her not to ask again even though she was too curious about what was happening in their house.
It wasn't the first time bad goons infiltrated their mansion but this was a first where they could be busted anytime soon. It was also because their parents and their other brother weren't with them.
Loco was just a year younger than Uno but their parents made it already clear that they wanted Loco to be their heir. Uno didn't protest anymore. If anything, he was more relieved because he never got an interest in their business in Underground. Loco and Uno were much more closed, given their situation.
When the door made a sound where they were both hiding in Gale's closet, Uno couldn't help but curse inside his mind. The loud beating of his heart isn't of any help. More so, it was only making him more anxious and numb.
Uno then stared at his sister on his arm. He got no choice but to do his plan. He was feeling sorry but it was for her safety.
He secretly got a small injection from the pocket of his hoodie and didn't hesitate to inject it into her neck. He pushed her head into his chest harder to make her whimper in pain, be muffled. He kissed her head and carefully laid her more into the side corner of the closet. He could no longer risk her sister. He needed to think fast because if not, they were both dead.
"I heard a sound. I'll be checking here. You go, check the other room," the Art guy demanded seriously which made Uno's hair on his nape stood up.
It was unusual to have a voice that deep. It was like a voice of a demon trying to devour your soul until you give up on resisting.
The door creaked open as he heard loud footsteps fading as time passed by. He didn't know how to react. He made sure no one can see a little bit of shadow of her sister as he hide beside the door, attempting to hide when that Art will open it.
"Where's that strong scent coming from?" He heard the guy whisper. Despite the loud beating of his heart, he heard it as the place was too silent that a fly would be embarrassed to pass by the room.
The sound of the footsteps nearing where he was made him feel like his time was already limited to minutes. Seconds, per se. He can hear the ticking sound of a clock that was adding to his anxiousness.
He wasn't ready when the door opened harshly. He supposed the man kicked the door with force. His legs were already trembling in fear. He got no strength anymore as fear started to cloud his mind but his determination to keep his sister remained as hard as stone.
"Come on, boy! So, it was you? But no, a boy like you shouldn't use a feminine perfume. Hmm, perhaps you're a little girl inside your body? That's disgusting, kid!"
He couldn't keep up with what happened after that. He only knows that he was already being beaten by three men in black. He could feel a force on his back, on his knee, on his head, arms, head, and all his body parts. He felt like dying once the group of men got tired of beating him up.
"Now kid, let us know where that fucking card is. If you'd stay silent like that, maybe you can never speak again. Now, do we have a deal?"
He couldn't understand what they were saying as a thin irritating static sound came in contact with his ears. It made him feel like his ears were literally bleeding. All he could feel was an extreme pain from all the beating he had from the goons.
"Talk!" He felt like his bone was totally crushed the moment one of the man's feet stepped on his left shoulder.
He couldn't help but shout in pain.
"Tell us where that card is!" He then vomited blood when they continued to blow a kick on his stomach.
"I-," blood surged out from his mouth as his eyes couldn't see anymore.
"I-I..., don't k-know,"
"You don't say you don't know where that card is when you're freaking the heir of the Lavientes!"
An unknown pain registered on his heart at the mention of that. He started to think that he wasn't supposed to be in that situation but the real heir. About the card they were talking about, he didn't know a single idea about that. Maybe it was connected to being the heir of their family.
He wasn't supposed to think like that. He wanted to curse himself when that crossed his mind. If he wished he wasn't in that situation, he couldn't even watch his sister get hurt, and yet he thought of having Loco, his brother, in exchange for him.
"Spade, they're on their way already. Let's go," Art's voice was like thunder that made all of them go silent as seconds passed by, they disappeared just like that.
"B-Brother-," Gale's voice dominated the whole place when they were the only ones left in the room.
"G-Ga- Gale?"
He didn't want to believe that his sister might've seen what happened to him but because he was too weak to move, he sensed her sister on his left side already. The room was filled with his sister's cries. It was hurting him but he was glad they didn't see her.
"W-Why? Ar-Are..., W-Why did t-they d-do t-this to y-you-," her voice cracked as Gale cried more than she did at first.
If they weren't only in that situation, he might tease her for being a cry baby but it was totally different from normal.
"D-Did--," he couldn't continue what he wanted to ask her because it was too much for a kid like her.
It was too much to witness how they tortured him. Beat all the hell out of him.
"Can y-you promise me one t-thing, G-Gale?"
He felt her warm hands on both of his cheeks and albeit his eyes were closed, the warmness from his sister's hand made him calm a bit. He felt at peace.
"Hmm," that was the only thing she could mutter as her voice was already drowning her from crying nonstop. Tears dropped on her brother's face.
"Can you close your e-eyes?"
"Hmm,"
"Try-, no. F-Forget what you s-see. Erase i-it from y-your memory and then, y-you can a-already open y-your eyes,"
He didn't get any response from her but he knew, he made her forget what happened.
At least, that was what he wanted to believe.
After that day, Gale started to act weird. They can all notice that. She grew paranoid every time Uno will be out of her sight. She was always trying to be with Uno all the time. She was afraid, someone will try to hurt her brother again.
She tried to forget what happened that time but her nightmares were always present in the middle of the night and she started not to sleep anymore.
She was sleepless and her family started to be cautious around her and worried that she might have PTSD already. Uno was beyond repair as he witnessed how her sister got really traumatized about what happened. In the back of his mind, he was blaming himself. What if he only didn't let himself be beaten up like that, his sister wouldn't have gone this worse.
But he was hopeless that night. he couldn't get himself to fight for what can a kid like him can do against those people back then?
Nothing.
When they thought Gale has come to her worst, that was not the real deal. She became worst and worst as time passed by to the point that they didn't expect her to resort to violence. To the point that whenever someone was trying to approach her brother Uno, she would plan on how to hurt them without their knowledge, out of their sight.
She was obsessed with the idea that, whenever people would try to go near her Brother Uno, she always had the thought that they will hurt him as what those men did to her brother that night.
She did try to forget what happened but when she did, her mind and soul stayed in that time. That was the consequence of her doing that. Her mind might forget but her soul didn't.
She was locked and stuck in that memory of her.
