Chapter 54 TAKING ALL THE BLAME

"Hey, brat. You look so young to be here inside the jail. What offense did you do? Is it your first time?" One of the women inside the jail asked, but Georgina remained silent—hugging her limbs.
"She doesn't look like she'll steal something. You seem like a dignified person. Did you offend an elite or hurt a member of it?"
She still didn't say a word.
It's almost twelve hours since she stayed inside the jail of the eastern police station. After an ambulance came and took Kiela to the hospital, police came and got Georgina in their custody. They said the Fuentes family accused her of attempted murder of their daughter. She couldn't do anything. And couldn't even get a lawyer to clear everything about the accusation.
In the entire twelve hours, no one came to see her.
"Look at this scene." She jolted out when she heard a familiar voice. It's her mother, Coleen. She had a satisfied, mocking smile on her lips that made Georgina grit her teeth. "For me, to see you inside the jail before me is quite satisfying. I just came to have a better look, not to help you. Anyway, don't you think you suit inside with that useless trash?"
"What did you say? Are you picking a fight with us?" The woman asked, giving her a death glare.
"Stop talking. No one wants to hear your voice."
"What?!"
"Leave. You already saw my terrible state, so leave the hell out of here. I don't need your f*cking help, evil witch. I'd rather spend the rest of my life here than be your plaything."
"As you wish, but your ex-lover is making a scene in front of me, accusing me I planned it so I give him a proper lesson. He won't see you for quite a while." Georgina's eyes widened as she unconsciously stood, hastily grabbed the jail cell bars, and glared at her mother with those ferocious-looking eyes.
"What did you do to him? What did you f*cking do to him?" She shouted at the top of her lungs.
"You don't need to know it. You should worry about your well-being." Coleen laughed before turning her back to Georgina.
"Come back here. Tell me, what did you do? I will f*cking kill you if you hurt him again. Come back here." She bursted out crying as she falls while hitting the jail bars.
The other woman inside the jail went speechless as they watched her cry as if the end of the world. But neither of them stopped her nor said something and looked away.
***
The next day, the noises and people's complaints left and right lingered inside the police station. Amidst it, Georgina was still staring at nowhere, her eyes swollen from crying, and she was sitting in the same position. She didn't sleep a wink or eat anything, even if someone gave her food rather than let the other take it.
She looks in deep thoughts in the eyes of anyone, but there's nothing inside her mind. It seems like her mind has gone blank and frozen. She didn't know what to think anymore.
"Brat, you didn't sleep? You're too young to be burdened with everything the adults should have."
"We can't blame her, whether you're born into a poor or rich family... In the end, living is still a sin." The mid-40s woman laughed so the others, but they stopped when they saw her and didn't react.
"Brat, all of us here really did something bad to someone. We know once a person was terrible, and you're out of the list."
"Georgina Alvarez, you can go out now. They didn't file anything towards you anymore." A policeman came with a paper in his hand. "Didn't you hear me, or do you want to stay there?"
"Sir, the brat's out of energy and didn't sleep yet, go easy on her." The woman said.
"You didn't suit this disgusting place, brat, so get your ass out of here." One of the women pulled her up and pushed her outside the jail as the policeman opened it.
Georgina looks at them, but they're all smiling at them. She looked down and was about to say something but didn't let it out.
"Brat, don't come back here anymore. You're still young. You should enjoy the innocent life a little more."
"Follow me. You need to sign a paper before going home." She didn't talk and followed him.
After signing some papers, she walked outside of the police station with an emotionless face. But she stopped for a few seconds when she saw Henrick leaning on the side of the car while answering a call. As their gaze met, he immediately ended the phone call as he opened the door in the passenger seat, so she just came and got inside without words.
In the middle of driving, the awkward silence engulfs inside. Henrick's gaze focused on the road while Georgina looked outside the window. But she can see his reflection through the window. He has the same look as yesterday. That madness and disappointment, it's as if he's suppressing himself to burst out in the middle of the road.
It's the first time.
The first time she saw him with those raging madness in his eyes, the first time a silence, full of tension, came between them, and the first time she wanted to see him smile at her so badly. A tear fell from her eyes, but she wiped it away.
She feels lonely. In this battle of revenge against her mother, she felt like everyone was isolating her—not letting anyone extend their hand as she fell.
It took them half an hour of drive before they reached the Jung Mansion. Georgina saw his parent's car and another unfamiliar one. She had a bad feeling once she stepped out. Even her hands tremble out of nowhere.
She got startled when Henrick held her left hand. She looked at him in confusion, but he stared ahead without saying anything.
Out of nowhere, her tears fall.
"I-I want to work things out between us so bad. I want to fall in love with you, Gina. Why do you need to do that to Kiela? Why did you offend my family and the Fuentes family? I'm disappointed and mad at you. But I'm more disappointed and mad at myself for losing your trust." A tear fell in Henrick's eyes. "I hated you for hurting Kiela so bad, but I hated myself more for making you cry. I didn't know what am I feeling anymore."
Georgina looked at him as he bursted out crying. Those words are too honest. This man, who rarely saw cries, was crying because of her. If she didn't come into his life, everything would never change. He won't feel sympathy towards her or be obligated to help the pitiful her. He had a bright smile and carefree life before he met her. He's supposed to stay that way.
A brief smile escaped her lips as she wiped his tears away.
"What are you crying for? I made all of this by myself, don't burden yourself with something you didn't do. I should take responsibility for everything." She said. "I had an idea of what's about to happen once I leave this car, but please don't cry and feel like sh*t. You're a b*stard man, but you can't hide the kindness in your heart."
"Gina, I'm sorry."
"It's not your fault." She said. "I've been thinking a lot... So much that I feel like my mind is going to burst out. But in the end, I'm decided."
"What do you mean?"
"Henrick Jung, I'm grateful for your help, but you should forget about me. I, Georgina Alvarez, shouldn't exist in everyone's life. Whether I died or vanished out of nowhere, my existence isn't something that anyone can be grateful for." She smiled before removing his hand and opening the car's door.
"Wait, Gina... I-I'm not mad at you. I just said those hurtful words because..."
"You didn't love me even a bit, Henrick. It's a pity, not love. Love is something wonderful that both people involved will be happy to have. It's the total opposite of your situation. Let's end it, the play we are obligated to act out."
Georgina didn't look back at him and walked inside with those heavy steps. But as soon as she stepped inside the mansion, a hard slap on the face welcomed her. She fell on the floor but didn't say anything. Someone came to pull her hair up and grab her jaw and saw Kiela's mother.
"You, insolent child. How dare you hurt my precious daughter? How dare you?" She shouted at the top of her lungs and pushed her on the ground—hitting her with bare hands and kicking with those high heels.
She groaned in pain but didn't try to fight back. Even though tears fell from her eyes, making her sight blurred. She didn't say a word and received all the physical pain the woman inflicted on her body.
"Why don't you talk and reason out? You're good with your mouth, am I right? Are you trying to look pitiful? No one will believe your act." She kicks her on her stomach once again. After tons of hitting, kicking, and shouting foul words, Kiela's mother had already caught her breath.
After her last kick, silence engulfs the living room. Georgina used the chance to sit and wipe the blood that fell beside her lips. Her body trembles in pain. She even finds it hard to sit. It's painful. Everywhere she kicked and hit hurt so bad.
"Georgina, how can you do this? We never treated you wrong, so how can you hurt Kiela?" Amanda asked and walked towards her. "Tell me your reason. If once you gave me enough reason. I'll let this pass."
"Amanda? This impertinent woman hurt my child so badly. How could you forgive her?"
Amanda didn't answer and looked straight at her. "She's also my child, so I want to believe her. How can I be so biased just because I knew Kiela for a much longer?"
"Are you crazy? This woman almost kills my daughter."
"Almost kill? Don't you know that the impertinent woman you're calling is already dying inside? You don't have any proof that she started it all. You only believe what your daughter said but didn't want to listen to the other side of the story."
Tears kept falling from Georgina's eyes as she watched Henrick's mother's intense argument with Kiela's mother. She wants to listen and believe in her, but it's too late.
"I... I-I did it. I started all of it, so please stop arguing over this matter. You could punish me as long as you want, don't accuse anyone other than me. I created all this mess by myself. It's all my fault. Mine and mine alone."
All of them went speechless as she spoke while crying.
