“Stop it!” Ivy’s voice rang out, raw and desperate, as she took in the horrifying scene. Lifeless bodies arranged in a sinister circle, candles flickering around them, and figures cloaked in black standing vigil. “Wh-who are you? Why are you doing this?” she stammered Heads turned to her, and one of the dark figures pointed directly at her. Panic surged, and she bolted, legs pumping furiously until she could run no more. “Ivy...” a voice echoed in the darkness. “Leave me alone! Stop calling my name! Show yourself, bastard!” she cried. “B-brother?” Her breath fastened as she saw him, blood trickling from his mouth. “N-no,” she sobbed, getting down into her knees. Suddenly, Ivy awoke with a jolt. Instead of Lila, she was met with piercing black and red eyes. “Stay away, broth—” Ivy’s scream was abruptly silenced by a sharp slap from Lila. When her vision cleared, she saw Lila standing over her. “L-Lila?” Ivy’s voice quivered, tears streaming down her face. “I-I’m scared. That wasn’t you... Was it still a dream?” Lila leaned in and pinched Ivy’s cheek hard. “Ouch! You pinch it so hard,” Ivy yelped, rubbing the sore spot. “See? This is reality, want me to pinch it again?” Lila said, a smirk playing on her lips. Lila gaze dropped for a moment and look again into her eyes. “I can’t sleep, and I know you won’t either.” Ivy raised an eyebrow. “Oh? And how do you know that?” Lila rolled her eyes, crossing her arms. “Are you stupid? You had a nightmare, so I woke you up.” “If you weren’t my friend, I’d be crying right now,” Ivy muttered, though a small smile tugged at her lips. They chuckled for a moment, but then Lila became serious again. “Tell me, Ivy,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. “Do they show themselves to you?” Ivy felt a shiver run down her spine. “They? You sound like my brother,” she said, trying to laugh off the unease that settled over her. "So, he can see them too?" Lila asked, her voice trembling as she sit to face Ivy inside the tent. The night seemed darker. Ivy's eyes darted around nervously. "You're acting weird, Lila. What are you talking about? Just tell me." "Aren't you scared of me? Won't you avoid me? Won't you—" Ivy reached out and gently flicked Lila's forehead, causing her to wince and hold it in response. "Why did you do that?" "You're my friend. I'll accept you, no matter what. You know me, I'm not like that." Lila sighed deeply, her shoulders fall heavily. "I... I can see things that can't be seen by anyone. I've seen things, Ivy. I saw it from the beginning... when we were in the van. It was following you." "Third eye? Wh-Why are you only telling me this now? Who is 'it'?" Lila grabbed Ivy's hands, holding them tightly. "I don't know, but I'm sure your brother knows something. I know he sees what I see." Ivy pulled her hands away, shaking her head in disbelief. "Impossible. I'm always with my brother. If he had a third eye, I'd be the first to know." Lila gave her a sad, knowing smile. "Do you really know him, Ivy?" Ivy was about to step out of the tent, but Lila grabbed her arm, stopping her. "They're waiting, Ivy. The sun hasn't risen yet. It's not safe outside now. I don't know what's your brother's intention, but I can see, he wants to protect you." Reluctantly, Ivy sat back down next to Lila. "Is that why you gave me the rosary?" Lila nodded, her eyes filled with worry. Suddenly, the temperature dropped, a cold chill sweeping through the tent. "Ivy, I can't sleep. Let's talk!" Sadie's voice called from outside, but there was no shadow. The girls exchanged a terrified glance. Lila shook her head, signaling not to pay attention to it. "Ivy, don't listen to her. She's deceiving you. She has a secret you don't know about. Come with me." Before Ivy could react, Lila slipped her headphones over Ivy's ears, drowning out his voice with a soothing melody. Ivy turned to Lila, her confusion melting away as she smiled warmly, the kind of smile that could chase away the darkest clouds and make the sun shine a little brighter. Despite the urge to go outside, Ivy decided to trust Lila and remained in the tent, hoping the dawn would bring safety.
