A D A M I can hear Olivia's voice downstairs. She is still the same. She greets my mother and asks her how she's doing. That's just her. With respect and I have admired that from her. Our gazes meet as I walk down the stairs. Her smile fades away from being sweet to melancholy. “Adam.” I think I hear a whisper. She walks toward me and gives me a warm hug. “It's nice to see you again, Olly.” I smile at her. We pull away from each other. She eyes me up and down quickly. “Look at you. Fresh and coming back. And you still call me, Olly.” Her innocent smile appears. I haven't seen that for so long. “Well, I'm only glad you're back, Addy.” I laugh at the cringy sound of our old nicknames. My mother clears her throat, “I have to leave now. Please, do enjoy your reunion and make it up. ” She hurries to the door and just like that we're alone in this house. My mother never hired a maid or a driver ever during the marriage life she has with my father. She's very hands-on with every task in this house. “So, tell me what I missed about your life.” She walks us outside the backyard where there's a ready-made table and huge umbrella. I shake my head. “No, that's not what we're going to talk about first.” We both settle down. She reaches for my hand. “Adam, don't be so rude.” I'm glad she takes it off quickly. “But I think we should be able to know how we've been doing first.” She scans the garden full of flowers that I never have asked my mother about the names. I nod agreeing with her statement. I think I should calm down first. “Okay.” I lean my back on the chair and get relaxed. “So how are you, Adam?” She starts to ask. “If I would be honest, I feel controlled over my life,” I tell her. Her shock in raising her eyebrows tells me she didn't expect me to answer that way. She still smiles like an angel, “You're quite blunt, aren't you?” “I am. How about you? What's been going on?” She sighs and looks away. “I think I am greatly happy that you're here. But before that, I traveled a lot hoping I could forget that you left me hanging in our relationship.” She puts her eyes back on me. “You left me hanging, Adam. I didn't know what wrong I did that you just left. Is that what you do? Just left people without telling them why?” I'm a little taken back by her question. I clearly remember that I did that to her. I'm quite guilty about it because I just did the same thing to Naya. The one true love I will ever consider. Dating Olivia back then was just for business purposes too. I wasn't really interested in her but she reminds me of my first kiss. She was my first kiss but nothing happened between us intimately beyond making out. “I'm sorry if I was a coward, Olly. I ran away.” I scratch my neck. “That's okay.” She says. “What about now? Are you in love? Do you have a crush?” This is what I like about Olivia. She's forgiving. She has a bright and positive personality. I see her more as a sister not by blood but she seems to give a positive word on something. She's a good friend. I smile thinking about Naya. “I do.” I fix my position and clasp my hands on the table. Olivia raises one eyebrow telling me that she's curious and he wants me to tell her about her. “I met her at this little town.” I start saying. “She means the world to me. I keep thinking about the possibility of having to spend the rest of my with her but right now, I think I've caused her pain by leaving her without telling her why.” Olivia shakes her head in disbelief. Her eyes go wide and she even makes an o shape of her lips. “Adam, you did not.” She whispers while shaking her head. “I did. Just to make our family happy.” I simply explain. “Adam, I can't believe this.” She's still whispering. “You have to come back.” She stands and paces back and forth from side to side. Her hands are on her hips as if she's getting a problematic about it. “You should know that when you did that to me I could literally die in all these unanswered questions. She can't have the same experience as I have, Adam. You owe her some explanation. “What?” I am confused by this reaction I am getting from her. This is not what I expect from Olly. I would expect her to get angry or laugh at it. “Go back and be with her. That's what I'm telling you, Adam.” “I cant. My grandmother will kill me. She won't like it hearing this from you, Olly. She wants us to get married.” She looks caught off guard. She stops pacing and looks at her sandal. “I...” She gives me a look of sympathy. “My father would kill me too.” There's a worry in her voice. “Seems like we're trapped on this control,” I tell her. She nods and forces a smile. “So, you can't come back to her? What's her name by the way?” “Naya. Naya Kim.” “Can you stop smiling right now?” She teases me. “You look so in love, Adam. I never have imagined you feeling like this. I'm quite impressed by the fact that you're capable of falling in love.” I just smile. “What happens now? We're going to pretend that we love each other when I see you just a little brother?” She's right. I see her just a big sister. She's two years older than me. “Let's do that. Let's be the best actors we have to go be.” “Ewww, Addy. That is something I promised to myself. That I will never kiss you again.” She looks up. “But in one condition.” “Seriously?” “You have to come back to Nadya-” “It's Naya, not Nadya.” She rolls her eyes at me and laughs, “Okay, okay. I'm sorry. But promise me that you will come back to her and spend the rest of your life with her.” I snort out a laugh, “You're saying this as if that's how easy it is.” “It won't be easy but it will be interestingly worth it.” She says. “What if you send her some flowers and a letter. Explaining yourself. That should be better than nothing. You express yourself there. Handwritten.” She points out. “ I'll help you with the flower but I won't help you with the letter. It has to come out of you naturally. Just say whatever you have to say. Think of her reading it and why are you writing. Be kind and respect her feelings too. That's it.” She claps in excitement. “Let me call my friend who owns this flower shop. ” I can't believe I have to write a love letter. I have never written a love letter before. That has never been my thing. Of course, I remember Naya wrote me one. But she has it back so I don't think there's a way she would let me read it. Perhaps, she's ripping it into pieces now. A few hours after. Olivia and I managed to send it to Cannon's address because I have no idea where Naya lives. But it was still a good idea to have Cannon have it delivered just to make good time when to give it to her. I wrote a back-to-back love letter to Naya. It is my way of saying everything I wanted to tell her from the beginning. I have no expectations. Why would I expect good from it? I hurt Naya's feelings already so I even have a doubt she would read the letter or take the flowers but I'll just call Cannon once she received it. I hope Naya reads it. I hope she waits for me.
