We make it to the office and we didn't share a wors much since morning. I have no idea as of why he is nute but I'm silent as, whenever he looks at me now, words don't form my head, I barely nodded in reply. I walk into the office storeroon to get a new projector for the neeting kater as the used one is glitchy. I hunted for Harry but today I didn't see him since morning and I was unable to ask Mr. Han for help as, his presence around me is driving me nuts. My heart goes crazy and my stomach feels weird everytime. I carry the stool and place it in fro t of tbe shelf. Removing my heels I climb on to it.
"Let me do it." I gaze down at his voice, when did he enter? He looks up at me and I immediately avert my gaze.
"I'll do it. You can leave." I demand trying to reach for the cardboard box on the top of the shelf.
"Are you still mad at me?"
"No,"
"Then why are being indifferent today?"
"Indifferent?" I ask standing on tiptoes, biting my lower lip I try to grab the box. The stool shakes and he holds it soon.
"Yeah, you've been abnormally silent."
A smile triumphant soreads across my lips as my finges touched the box. I lift my heel higher,  "Was I?" I ask shifting my gaze to him.
I gasp and ny body paralyzed in shock, adreline rushes through my spine as I let myself fall until I hit the ground. My life just flashed before my eyes while struggling to catch my breath. The llmoud thud of thw box the floor makes me flinch, I slowly lift my automatically squeezed eyelids and my brows meet. I feel something hard beneat my head, it's definitely not thw flooe. In curios I slowlt tirn my head to the left, only to find Mr. Han laying next to me. In a flash, I sit upright and help to sit as well, he lets oit a lpw groan holding his right arm.
Oh my god, he hurt himself.
"You alright?" Ny voice comea out breathless, as I gently rouch his arm.
"You seem different today." I gaze up, meeting his eyes. "Your make up is glamorous  today." He says, a chewky grin playing on his lips.
"Seriously, how can you comment in such a situation, you're hurt." I get onto ny feet and hwlp him up.
Truth to be told, I did lottle overdid ny name up today, I put mprebefflrt and time. It hurts my ego to accept my consciousness,  I did to look pretty in for him.
As i couldn't find Harry I help Mr. Han into the car on the passenger seat and O get i to the driver's seat. This is when my license is bwing useful.
"You can drive." Mr. Han scowls when the engine starts.
"Do you think I'm gonna play with your car?" I snarl.
"I'm just, being cautious of my precious life." He chuckles. Ignoring him I drive to the hospital.
The nurse looks at me curiously and asks, "Who are you?"
"I am his assistant," I reply, taking the paper from her and walking into the room.
I have been waiting outside for the past few minutes while he is being checked up. Those few minutes felt like hours. Mr. Han is quite peculiar. I mean, how can someone compliment your makeup when you are injured? Has he hit his head on something? Nevertheless, despite his odd behavior, he seemed fine. However, I couldn't help but feel anxious.
"Are you alright?" I let out a sigh of relief as I walk towards him.
"Just a fracture," he replies, taking his shirt with his left hand. "Help me put it on," he requests, struggling to wear the shirt with one hand while his other arm remains in a sling.
I approach him, trying to maintain composure and not stare at his well-built body. Taking the shirt, I assist him in inserting his left arm. He unstraps the sling and moves his injured arm slowly as I help him put on the shirt. Carefully, I pull up his collar and neatly fold it. Stepping back, I watch as he stands and gazes down at me while I button up his shirt. My cheeks flush and my heart races as if I've just ran a marathon.
"You really do look different today." He says. His intense gaze makes me feel incredibly nervous and shy, but somehow, I manage to button up the shirt with my trembling hands.
I remain silent. Stepping back, I take a moment to observe him, and my lips part in surprise at the scene before me. I notice that one of the buttons on his shirt has been left undone, resulting in one side of the shirt appearing longer than the other.
A corner of his lips twitches to a subtle smirk and he raises his brows amusingly. Feeling a wave of embarrassment, I instinctively glance downward. Adjusting my glasses, I gather the courage to step closer and begin buttoning his shirt. Standing on my tiptoes, I carefully fasten each button, starting from the top.
"Looks like Ms. Anna is flustered." His soft chuckles jit nu ears and I look up at him.
"I'm not " I snap.
He bends making me to step back, "You're are red as tomato." He whispers.
I immediately look away takimg another step back, "I hailed a taxi for you to head home because you have to rest." I inform as I oick his blazor and tie from the bed.
"What about you?" he inquires, retrieving his phone from his pocket and engrossing himself in it.
"I have some plans," I casually respond, shrugging my shoulders as his gaze meets mine.
"Ms. Anna," he advances towards me, causing me to instinctively raise my hand to maintain some distance. "Shouldn't you assist me, considering I got injured because of you?"
"Alright, alright," I take a step back and hand him the sling.
"Help me," he pleads, sounding almost childlike.
Complying, I step forward and once again rise on my tiptoes to adjust the strap around his neck, securing the sling in place.
"Let's head home." He strolls away, and I follow him.
The sky gradually transforms, as the vibrant hues of daylight give way to the encroaching darkness theough the ride.I pay the driver and Mr Han stomps into the apartment. I follow him into the elevator and wait beside him, meddling with the strap of my handbag
"Thanks," I say softly.
"You're welcome,” He blurts dryly and walks out of the elevator.
He unlocks the door scanning the left thumb and I trail after him. Abruptly, he stops in his tracks and turns around, making my head hit on his chest.
"Help me to remove my shirt." He says.
I look up at him, "Whuat?" I ask with raisws brows. I'm sure unbuttoning can be done in one hand, isn't it easy because I've seen the men in book doing so, they unbutton their shirt with one hand ahe strudes close to the female protagonist who is on the bed. Moreover, I've seen Mr. Han doing it in office,  he unbuttons the top two button of his shirt with one hand. Now, he is pretending to be helpless.
"You can do it!" I sneer.
He bends bringing meeting my height and pouts. Damn, why does hw do that? Ny lipsburge to qurck to a smile but hold my muscles stiff. "Fine," I toss his blazer a d tie to a nearby furniture. He stands upright, his gaze fixed on me. Leavvibg a decente distance between, as the closeness is making ny heart jump out. I quickly unbutton the shirt and step back. "Done." I say with gritted teeth.
"And—"
I glare up at him. "Are you gonna ask me to unbutton your pants as well?"
"I don't mind if you do." He shrugs.
I let out loud groan.  That answer was the kost possi le reoly to roll down his tongue, I'm a fool to make that sound satcastic. My phone rings and I pull it out from ny bag to see who it is.
"Are you alright?" Mr. Han asks.
I move the screen away from my vision and look up at him, passing him an assuring smile. I nod. A low vxed sigh leaves mlips as I turn and walk away.
What does she need? Why is she calling me?
I toss to thw couch and chortle sarcastically.  Seriously,  it's been years I've moved out and this the thirf or fourth time she is calling me and the reason for it had no advantage for myself.  Atleast she can act a lottle biot, like she cares about butbshe doesn't. My mom, receiving call means there is somethings she needs from my side. The call ends as I mever picked and this is the seventh time to ring. Throwing myself into the couch O run myvjand theough myvhair as I pick the call, and lift close ro my ear with no interest.
"Anna," there comes her voice, it's been a while to hear it and whenever she talks to me, I couldn't help myself but feel pity for myself.
"Yes," I reply bluntly.
"How are you?"
Does she really mean that question?
"Good." I say, my voice low and dry.
"How's everything been?—"
"What's the matter?" I ask, ignoring her previous question.
"Your brother Bray, is going tonget married."
"Step brother." I correct her. "So?"
"So, he asked me to invite you." She says.
Of course, ofbhe hadn't ask she wouldn't bother to invite me as me being in their occasion will ruin her as she pretends like she has no one from her early family.
"I—" i take a moment to think. Bray has been kind towards me, he is indeed a good person but we weren't very close, or to be more specific not even close. A part of me is reluctant to refuse the invitation because he remembered me and I'm grateful for it. "When?: i question.
"In two days. Will yoi come?"
"Do you want me to come?"
"Of course." She chucklea softly. "And, Anna I want to introduce you to someone."
"What are you talking about?"
"There is a young lad who known to your father—"
"Step father," i correct again.
"Yes, yes, your step father." She says stiffly. "He is  handsome and own a company as well. It will be great ifbyou two cab interact with eaxh other."
"Are you setting me up with someone?"
"He is really a good man. I feel like he will give you a great life and you'll will be a perfect match."
"Perfect match?" I scoff. "Since when did you care about my life."
I'm sure she would get something from all this set up, as she had mever bothered to ask whether Ibhave a boyfriend or not.
"I mean, you can try—"
"I have a boyfriend." I snap a pure lie,  however, I couldn't think of anyone in that place except Mr. Han.
"What? Stop lieing, just attend the event and get along with Bray, alright. " she warns, and here came her true self. I hung up.
As I toss my phone on the table and lean back, a notification beeps. Sitting upright I grab the phone, it's the invitation and again the phone beeps. My brows meet at the sight ofbthe chat, it's Bray. I haven't saved his contact and I know it's him because he has made an introduction.
Bray: Hey, hi. Hope youbare doing good. I'm Bray here, your stepbro, the one who helped you to sneam pit of home, to put on act with you to let you stay in the college dorm and someone who understands you in this family.
A smile nakes its way on myvlips as Ibread his message. The memories of whatvhe stated plays in my head, as I got into college I preferred staying in the dorm instead at home, but my mum didn't allow me to do it. I had no way, so I asked Bray to sign for the guardian's signature on the paper. He helped me to pack my things and move put at night. He was against his parent marriage as well but as he was too busy with his work ge had nobrime to bother about his father's affairs and he adviced me the same, to not bother about our parent's affairs as they were not bothered about their children.
Bray: I hope to see you on my big day;)
Me: Of course,  I will definitely show up.
Bray: And, juat got to know you have a boyfriend. Your mom kept nagging after the phone call. So, I don't know whether it's a loe, if it is not, your boyfriend is invited.
Me: What is she gonna get by setting me up with that whosoever guy.
Bray: Idk, some business deals I guess. You know who she ia right  By the way, being your boyfriend along so she will have no chance to set you up with another guy.
Me: I sure will... Congratulations, bro. I wish you happiness <3
Bray: <3
After a long shower, I finally change into my comfortable pyajamas. My mond never stops analysing a plan to attend Bray's wedding. I can't sewk Dylan's help for ajre after hitting him, Mr. Han was and is onky my option. I'm pretty sure he wooild agree to offer me his help as I helped on the other day, however the only issue, is how am I going to ask him? Should I do the same as he did, to directly get to the point and if he doesn't to hug him tight to force him. Yewww, I get goosebumps at just the thought of it. Entering the kitchen, I turn on the stove to prepare dinner for myself and for the person who rescued me. Before the spagetti boils, my copking is distracted by the knock at the door. It will surely be him. Adding more soya sauce to the meat as Jackie likes soya sauce. I wash my hands and stroll to the door.
All of a sudden,  I feel like I know Mr. Han well, of course I know Jackie but it had been ten years since we met and everytime he looks at me, I cannot hold in my weird sensations.
Inhaling a deep breath in, I open the door and my lips part. Mr. Han is standing in front of me, with his bathrobe. I blink and look away. Damn, why did I gawk at him?
"Help me tie this." He says as he steps forward extending his hip.
My gaze travels down noticing the strap untied. I'm glad he had the strap into the loops and a loose single knot covering hia bottom part of the body. I look up at him and he pouts.
"I promise,  I tried to tie it but couldn't." He says stepping closer, a cheeky snile playing on his lips.
I roll my eyes and grasp the strap, making sure to avoid touching him. I inhale, the smell of his shampoo hitting my nostrils. The smell of eucalyptus, something which smells good along with lavender.
"Seems like Mr. Han is enjoying with fractured arm." I scoff stepping back. "It's only for two months." I remind him. The doctorsm told it's a minor injury and he can come back for check a week later.
"I know." He whines and stops scrunching his nose he draws a large breath in through his nose. "I smell something good." He says looking down at me.
"I'm preparing dinner."
"For me?"
I nod.
He bends meeting my my body stiffens. "You're so thoughtful." He says in a low voice.
.......................................
Startled, I flinch,  the dish in my hand slips from my grasp. The sudden, piercing sound of my boss's dry scream reverberates in my ears. A shriek escapes my lipsas in a swift motion, he firmly grsaps my arms and pulls me in front of him.
God, not again! It's still early in the morning, and I find myself working for my boss at home before the office has even officially started. If he hadn't hurt himself to save him, I would stay put of his sight. Getting him the breakfast done, his clothes in place and wiping his wet hair.
It seems that my cat has taken a liking to him, as it always scampers behind him whenever he makes shows up.
"Take that away," he whines and screams like a girl who saw a cockroach.
"Seriously," rolling my eyes I chase the kitten away "so childish" I mumble under my breath.
He steps in front of me, with his shirt on, unbuttoned. His chest directly in my view, making a hot blush rise over my neck. The Jackie who was chubby as my pet, the cute adorable boy is now a man, with well-built muscles.
He bends while I reach up to his shirt. Buttoning it up, I take the tie from his hand as I stand on tippy toes. He bends even lower allowing me reach his neck. I slip the fabric around his collar. My mind soaked in the thought of how to ask him to attend my brother's big day with me, to attend as my boyfriend.
"Ms Anna,"
"Anna, Anna." he shouts bringingme back to reality.
"Yeah," I face him.
"You okay, you are strangling me." he chokes.
"Ohh,sorry, sorry." I loosen the tie awkwardly and tie it neatly.
I step back, adjusting my glasses. I look up at him and down again. I meddle with my fingers nimbling on my lower lip. How should i ask?
"Do you have anything to say, Ms. Anna?" He asks.
"I—um— Mr. Han."
"Yes."
I gaze up at him. "Can you do me favour like I did last time?"
"Last time?" He thinks, "You mean, the date thing?" He asks with knitted brows.
"Yes," I nod, "Can you—"
"Of course, I will—"  He claps,  taking me off guard.
I stare at him, startled. I didn't even give him a reason.
"Won't you ask me why?"
"Should I?"
I remain silent.
"I mean, I have no need to pretend to be your boyfriend,  I can really be one." He shrugs and  walks away. "You should drive today as well." He says aloud before leaving.
This is easier than I thought.
