Episode 13.

Alpha Dean's Pack.

Last night proved to be quite enjoyable in Dean's territory as well. It was a delightful evening that brought Elisa and Jared together.
Venturing into the woods after receiving Dean's permission to practice their scouting skills turned out to be great fun. This training was meant to start long ago, but pressing matters had delayed it. Despite their ongoing responsibilities, the process seemed to be dragging on.
Hence, Dean decided to authorize Elisa, Jared, and the two other omega wolves, who were set to join the new scout team, to conduct the training on their own. He set a time limit before they headed out, and they returned promptly as instructed. The brief time they spent last night was truly enjoyable.
As a new day dawned, Jared found himself in the kitchen, assisting Elisa to the best of his abilities, strengthening the bond of their friendship.
Meanwhile, Minerva was also in the kitchen, her demeanor hinting at a tinge of jealousy over their promotion. She remained silent about it, focusing on her own plans to secure a position as one of the most respected members of the pack, akin to the Luna.
While engrossed in their tasks, Jared was the first to initiate a conversation. "I wish nights like yesterday never had to end," he expressed while deftly slicing the vegetables.
Elisa attempted to speak, but Minerva cut her off with a negative tone.
"Could you all please let me get a word in? Last night, it was just last night! It's not like it was something extraordinary," Minerva raised her voice, causing reactions from both Elisa and Jared.
They exchanged puzzled looks, wondering why Minerva reacted so strongly when Jared's words were not meant to offend.
As they gazed at Minerva, Elisa swallowed nervously and resumed her work, prompting Jared to do the same.
"Minerva, I fail to see how his comment could have upset you," Elisa addressed Minerva, who stopped and gave Elisa an irritated look, placing her hand on her hip.
"I'm not saying he upset me. I simply wish he would be quiet and stop chattering in my ear! Can't we all focus because you both went for a little run last night?" Minerva's voice rose. Elisa managed a small smile, though it carried a hint of mockery, showing her lack of interest in Minerva's outburst.
Engrossed in her tasks, Elisa continued speaking to Minerva.
"If you don't want to join the conversation, maybe you should excuse yourself, Minerva," Elisa suggested, causing Minerva to widen her eyes in surprise.
"Are you really asking me to leave the kitchen? Is that what you want?" Minerva questioned, her hands still on her hips.
"If that's what you think, then so be it," Elisa responded calmly.
"So be it?" Minerva replied, her curiosity piqued, before Jared interjected.
"Minerva, I don't understand. Why are you feeling jealous now? Is it because you weren't chosen?" Jared inquired.
"Jealous of what, exactly? Being a scout? Is that even a position worth being jealous of?" Minerva questioned, looking from one to the other, awaiting a response, knowing that the answer could come from either of them.
"We are wolves, Minerva, and hunting is our primary duty. Being a scout is a great honor bestowed upon us by the alpha. Imagine roaming the city at night, pack to pack, under the blazing moon. Can't you envision how magical that would be?" Elisa explained, leaving Minerva speechless.
Jared gazed at her with an amused expression, waiting for her reaction, but Minerva found herself at a loss for words, unsure of how to reply. She nervously swallowed, shifting her attention back to the dishes she was washing as the conversation continued.
"I really miss Elena," Elisa brought up the topic, causing Jared to pause from his vegetable slicing, taking a seat on the nearby table.
"Not just you, Elisa. No one could miss her more than the Alpha," Jared added, prompting both Elisa and Minerva to pause their tasks.
Elisa gently covered the pot she had been adding ingredients to, finishing up her cooking. The table was still cluttered with various food items, indicating there was more to be prepared.
"Honestly, Jared, it baffles me. I have never seen Dean love someone the way he loves her," Elisa remarked, while Minerva remained quietly listening to their conversation without wanting to interrupt.
She kept her ears open, catching every word they uttered.
"I feel the same way. She has changed him. Dean has become so much softer and approachable since she arrived. It's making me believe in the wonders of fate. I thought we were all going to meet our end at the hands of Dean, given how ruthless he was as an alpha. He showed no remorse for taking someone's life," Jared commented, with Elisa nodding in agreement.
"Indeed, everyone in the pack thought the same. But thanks to the moon goddess, here we are, alive and fortunate. We owe a lot to Elena. I hope they bring her back soon," Elisa said, then moved towards Jared, who had his eyes fixed on her.
He was unsure why she was approaching until she reached him, picked up the basket of vegetables he had sliced, and headed back to the pot to pour them in.
"That reminds me, the full moon is approaching. It's the tenth month, We all know what happens every tenth full moon. I wonder how it's going to be," Jared pondered, while Minerva paused, listening intently as the conversation grew more intriguing.
"I am beginning to wonder too. The alpha loves Elena, and he is fighting to have her back. I'm not sure if he is willing to make such bold moves on her," Elisa responded, as Jared shrugged his shoulders.
"I sometimes wonder if that's why he's so intent on finding Elena," Jared mused, prompting Elisa to respond.
"I hope not. Let's end this discussion now to avoid any trouble," Elisa said, shrugging her shoulders before falling silent.
Meanwhile, Minerva was eager for more details, despite not fully understanding the conversation. She made a conscious effort to distance herself from their discussion, wanting to show her displeasure.
"I believe we all need to be cautious about getting too close to the Alpha, especially us female wolves. The Alpha might choose any of us from the omegas," Elisa warned, prompting Minerva to finally speak up in confusion.
"Choose anyone for what?" she inquired, causing Jared and Elisa to exchange puzzled glances.
"Stop staring at me and tell me what happens every tenth full moon," Minerva demanded.
"Are you telling me you didn't know the Alpha makes a sacrifice to the moon goddess every tenth full moon?" Jared questioned, leaving Minerva slightly bewildered as she crossed her arms.
"Why should that concern us, especially the female wolves? explain better please" she pressed, awaiting a clear explanation from both Jared and Elisa.
"Alpha Dean is fond of pretending to love, promising to make her the Luna, after impregnating her he then used both the unborn child and the mother for sacrifice, but now, Elena is not even around. I fear for all of us," Elisa expressed, noticing Minerva's growing panic. Minerva, feeling uneasy, nervously nodded.
"Are you alright?" Jared inquired, observing Minerva's uncharacteristic behavior. She forced a smile and nodded in response.
"Of course, it's just that this is the first time I've heard this. If it's true, then we are all truly at risk. I should catch up with both of you later," Minerva hurriedly excused herself from the kitchen, leaving Elisa and Jared exchanging concerned glances.
They both recognized that Minerva was behaving strangely. However, they believed there was no cause for alarm. Understanding that it was Minerva's first time hearing such news, they reassured themselves that anyone would feel a bit scared after receiving such information.
