"Hey, I was just wondering what's on your mind. Are you really planning to venture into that forest? It's dangerous, you might not make it back," Carlos said to Adam, who was determinedly walking towards his car. Adam had already gathered the information he needed, so there was no reason for him to stay any longer. "Adam, please don't ignore me," Carlos raised his voice slightly. As Adam reached his car, he paused and turned to face Carlos. "Carlos, you should focus on your payment. I'll bring it to you in cash, or would you prefer a transaction?" Adam asked, his expression serious. Carlos was taken aback. "Adam, I didn't share this with you for the money. I thought you were asking for a different reason. If I knew it was about entering a forest from which you might not return, I wouldn't have said anything," Carlos explained. Adam nodded, patting Carlos on the back as he took a deep breath. "I understand that you wouldn't have told me. That's why I kept my intentions hidden until I got what I needed. I'm sorry, but I have to go. I need to avenge my daughter; that's all that matters to me now," Adam said solemnly, leaving Carlos to exhale heavily. He could sense the seriousness in Adam's expression. It was clear that Adam had made his decision and was unwavering. "I see that you've already made up your mind. You've been a loyal friend, and I've been searching for a way to repay you. Maybe now..." Carlos began, but Adam cut him off. Adam knew what reaction he would receive, which made him hesitant to confide in Carlos in the first place. "No, Carlos, don't worry. I'll handle this my way. Take care of your wife; you have a lot to live for," Adam said before trying to enter his car, only to be stopped by Carlos. A meaningful glance passed between them as they locked eyes in silence. "I have someone to live for, and so do you. If I can't assist you on this journey, then who will? Come with me; there are many things I need to share with you about this and how we can proceed," Carlos urged, leaving Adam contemplating his words silently. He had never intended to drag this man into his quest. Had he known, he might have concealed his true intentions. Carlos had a wife to care for, and now he was putting his life on the line for Adam. "Forget whatever you're thinking and follow me!" Carlos interrupted Adam's thoughts, and started walking back to his house and ultimately to his cave. Adam stood by his car, closed the door, and obediently followed Carlos's lead. "Be cautious. Werewolves, like other supernatural creatures, can be very dangerous. if we are to enter their territory, there are things we must be aware" Carlos warned as they descended underground once more, searching for a particular book. Perhaps this book holds all the information they need to navigate the werewolves' domain safely, retrieve what they seek, and return unharmed. • • • Alpha Mula's Pack. "I see no reason why we shouldn't go and rescue her! If it might be a setup or something, we need to act first! We just need to proceed with caution. Perhaps along the way, we can determine if it's a setup," Ryan advised Mula, who was seated on the couch with his legs resting on the table. As Ryan offered his advice, he also pondered his own thoughts, trying to figure out the best course of action regarding rescuing Athena. "Dean came here to ask for Elena's return. That's strong evidence that Athena is in trouble because he wouldn't know without her being captured. We both understand what Dean might do to her. She risked her life to bring you happiness. Why not save her now when she needs us the most?" Ryan suggested to Mula, who then gently lowered his legs from the table. Having heard advice from both sides, Mula realized it was time to make his decision, with his beta's words weighing heavily on his mind. "Ryan, you're right, she did this without expecting anything in return from us. I believe we should help her, but we'll have to go tonight under the cover of darkness," Mula declared before rising from his seat and walking towards the door, his hands clasped behind his back. As Mula was about to exit, he paused, turning back to Ryan. "Remember, this must remain a secret between us. Nobody else should know, not even Elena. Understood?" Mula requested, to which Ryan nodded slightly before Mula left the room. As he opened the door, he nearly collided with Melody, who had dropped the tray of food she was bringing to him. She seemed flustered, as if she had been startled by something. It was unclear how the mishap occurred, but as she entered, Mula was stepping out, leading to their accidental meeting. "I'm so sorry, Alpha," Melody apologized quickly, bending down to gather the apples and other fruits that had spilled from the basket. Mula wasn't upset about the food staining his shirt, but he was curious about where Melody was headed with the food. "Melody?" he called out. "Alpha," she responded, a hint of fear in her eyes as she momentarily paused in cleaning up the mess on the floor. "Are you okay? Who were you taking the food to?" he inquired, observing as Melody lowered her head once more. "I apologize, Alpha. Ryan asked me to bring him the food. I'm really sorry," she explained, causing Mula to shift his gaze towards Ryan, who simply shrugged in response. It was evident that Ryan had indeed requested the food delivery. "When did you start eating outside the dining area?" Mula inquired, taking a deep breath as he awaited a response. "I was just hungry, so I asked Melody to bring me some food," Ryan replied casually. Mula glanced at him, sharing a smile before excusing himself from the room. • • • Carlos Home. Adam and his friend Carlos were deep inside his small cave, delving further into the mysteries of the supernatural world. "This story holds the key to understanding the supernaturals, guiding us on how to navigate this realm," Carlos remarked, gesturing towards a book placed on the table in front of them. Adam sat with his arms folded, admitting his limited knowledge of this subject, relying on Carlos to shed light on the matter. "So, what does the story entail, and how can we apply it?" Adam inquired, prompting Carlos to open the book. "It's a tale steeped in myth, focusing on the werewolf creatures that once dominated the earth in ancient times. Humans lived in constant fear during that era," Carlos explained, flipping through the book filled with illustrations depicting the events he described, alongside accompanying texts. While some pages solely contained written descriptions without images, elaborating on the lore. "Humanity found themselves cowering in the shadows to avoid being preyed upon. Men grew so fearful that they resorted to drastic measures, either turning into werewolves after being bitten by an alpha or marrying one to birth wolf offspring, all in the name of protection," Carlos narrated, with Adam absorbing every detail intently. "So, how did humans regain their world?" Adam inquired. "Let me explain. I'm getting to that," Carlos replied, raising a finger before flipping to a specific page in the book. He pointed to a group of men dressed in black, armed with guns and other equipment, appearing quite menacing. The werewolves depicted in the illustration looked frightened, some even slain and massacred. "These men, known as the hunters, were the ones who pushed them into darkness," Carlos explained, as Adam leaned in, clearly intrigued by the details he was about to reveal.
