Chapter 10: Forget Me Not

"How did it go? Did you made the cut?" Sunghoon hastily asked the moment Yeji and Jungwon stepped in the doorway.
The Enhypen's main visual, in an obvious tone, is patiently waiting as he sprung up the couch seeing them enter the house. Looking at Sunghoon's curious face, Jungwon was hesitant to tell a lie but Yeji is secretly pulling the back of his shirt, like telling him otherwise.
"Y-Yeji--" Jungwon started, voice is unsteady he could've crack with the distortion. "She--"
"I didn't make it." Yeji quickly cuts in, face was covered by anguish as she keep clicking her nails while looking down.
Sunghoon burst in a boisterous laugh. 'What did I tell you? Better luck next time, brat." he continues to crack up while messing Yeji's hair.
"Ah! You're so annoying, Oppa!" Yeji furiously blurted as she rushed to her room, banging her door.
"Guess what? There's no one to annoy you soon enough! We're out of here in a couple of days! I'm not gonna be home for ten years!" Sunghoon yelled back, taking the micky out of his little sister.
"I don't care! Don't go home forever!" a scream echoed out of Yeji's door.
Sunghoon chuckled. He really do like picking on his little sister as his broad shoulders is still raising with his laugh. He then faced Jungwon, who on the other hand, is still standing immobile in the doorway and surprisingly, in a deep thinking.
"Are you okay, Won?"
"Yeah. I couldn't believe the one month break is coming to an end. It's like yesterday when I stepped in here."
Sunghoon nodded and intensely sighed. "Right. It's so fast I want another two months more but what can we do? We need to work. By the way, who's the winner for this year's talent quest?"
Jungwon flinched, thoughts run up with what abouts. He awkwardly laughed, trying to think for an alibi, while he scratched his head fighting the jitters.
"I forgot the name. I don't know anyone there but Yeji and Hyejin--"
Sunghoon stopped. His gaze is now more intent like reading his best kept secret. "You we're with Hyejin? For the whole four hours?"
"Y-Yeah." Jungwon nodded and kept a straight up face. "We need to cheer for Yeji."
Sunghoon drew a breath, studied his face if it exhibits something suspicious. "Did you enjoy it?" he spatted.
"Are you trying to catch me with something, Hyung?" Jungwon shoots back.
"Did you see yourself everytime I'm mentioning Hyejin's name? Clearly not." Sunghoon scoffed, his cheeky smile instantly faded. "You're looking like an enthralled teenager, just like the way Heeseung Hyung is looking at Choi Aerin."
Jungwon was fixed, eyes stricken with surprise by Sunghoon's exposure. He tried to hide it but Hyejin's cousin was so keen, catching him with something he tried to cover out.
"Let me get this straight, Won. I will support whoever girl you like or someone you want to date. I will approve whoever you want to be with just like how I side with Heeseung Hyung dating Choi Aerin but not my cousin or anyone in my family. I mean, it's the basic rule, right? It's strictly prohibited and it's stipulated in our contracts. It's like me dating your sister. How would you feel about that?"
It's not like everyday he was hit by such serious words and Park Sunghoon is the kind of a cool hyung but suddenly, he turned into a angry sire protecting his offspring. Jungwon was put on a short pause but quickly he bounced up, defending himself.
"That would be awful." he said, maintaining a poker face. "But we didn't spend the whole four hours together. She was with Ahn Minhyun."
Making himself said it is like jumping on the hoops. He had to elaborate in order save himself from Sunghoon's bucking.
"Ahn Minhyun?" Sunghoon asked again, a bit of revulsion was seen on his face as he clicked his tongue. "He's not the type of guy that I want Hyejin to end up with but I think it's perfectly fair for me. I'm sorry, Won. I acted a little tough. You're not planning on pursuing Hyejin, right?"
"Pursuing her?" Jungwon callously chuckled. "Of course not. Why are you thinking of something scandalous? We are already in predicament protecting Heeseung Hyung's secret relationship with Choi Aerin. I don't want to involve myself in another trouble."
Sunghoon nodded. A wide smile was seen exposing his eye teeth. Only then, Jungwon got to breathe for relief.
"Then, I can finally relax now. Do you want to hit the rink tomorrow? A promise is a promise."
Jungwon chuckled. Sunghoon sucks at keeping his promises. He stepped closer and gave Sunghoon a skeptical stare.
"That sounds amazing but I doubt it." he sniggered. "Besides, I already overcame the yearning. I almost hit my head-" he stopped after realizing something.
"You almost hit your head? When?"
"I mean, I might hit my head again. We filmed an ice skating episode back then and I messed up big time." Jungwon almost stumble. "Nevermind, Hyung. I think I need to pack up now. Better get ready. Days are coming by so very quickly."
"Are you sure? Because the very reason why you came along is because you wanted me to teach you how to glide. Are you cool to go back without not having it done?"
"No problem." Jungwon gave the assurance. "It's been a tiring night, Hyung. I think I need to rest now. I'm sleeping in your bed tonight! Good night!" he dashed out, laughing, while entering Sunghoon's room.
He walked out because he cannot carry the guilt anymore. Looking at Sunghoon in the eye and telling countless lies feels like he had committed an offense. It goes contrary to his values being the leader. He don't lie to his members, never did, he believed in honesty just like they all believed in him to lead.
And yet, he lied. To keep his feelings safe he went to tell infinite lies and what more culpable is, he never flinch. It feels like he became a rubix cube liar so suddenly, when caught he'd simply remix it. And he hates the feel of it.

Covered in sweat and frustration, Hyejin puts herself in a short pause to breathe for air. Her feet is aching and she's about to have a breakdown. She keeps on falling, already bruised her knees for the numerous spin but still, she cannot land perfectly.
Her true love is always the act of dancing, the feeling of being able to make those leaps and twirls look so easy, and the ice is the only applause she ever need and the feel of skating boots beneath her feet is her only strong support. She's a figure skater, others only look at the graceful leaps and never asked about her feet - it's hurting, throbbing, in deep pain.
"Don't push it, Hyejin. We still got a lot of time. Let's call this a night." Coach Jang pronounced, making her a little bit easy.
"Can I go first, Coach?" Ahn Minhyuk asked. "I killed my quad. I don't know about Hyejin, she seems a little lost. That wasn't a hard spin."
Coach Jang nodded and faced Hyejin. "How about you, Hyejin?"
Hyejin sighed and quickly shook her head. "I'm staying for a little bit. Don't worry about me."
"Are you sure? We can still do it tomorrow. And it seems like it's going to rain."
"I'll try another spin and I'm off too, Coach Jang. Don't worry. Have a good night."
They went ahead, leaving her behind. It's only in the time when she feels alone she got to scream in frustration. Her scream echoed the whole square, then came a flash mob of rain, tap-dancing upon the roof, covering her vexation with it's hard spatters.
Long before she thought being a stickler for perfection is an advantage because it would make her unbeatable but never did it cross her mind her perfectionist nature towards her passion would consume her entirely.
Being alone is the thing she waited for. Being solitary, she can be free, quite unequalled and a bit crazy. She took off her skating boots and changed it another one, the one that spells comfort to her feet. But Coach Jang prevented her to use it saying skater boots are normally white. Hyejin chuckled as she puts it on. Who telling her now that she's all alone?
She stood up and looked around, making it sure nobody is present but only her. Her thoughts went into overdrive it can appear crazy, or actually be crazy. Just like how she quickly changed her boots is how fast she shifted the music, from the performance sound to something odd but not unfamiliar to her ears.
The door stood as weathered shield, ever protecting from the seasonal storm-arrows and prying eyes. At that moment, Hyejin stretched out her hands, pretending to be a graceful swan. She glided across the ice cold rink with ease and grace in the tune that she begins to embrace. She tried the spin one more time, the routine that Ahn Minhyuk is telling her that she sucks at. Then she made it, with one single try, like a true winner of her own game. She landed back on ice - proud and unscathed.
The moment he realized the cold drops of water touching his skin, Jungwon ran for shelter. Still holding the snacks he bought in the store nearby, he searched for cover, then there comes a playful light, the only light in the midst of swirl of drops and the swinging wind. Reaching the shade, he breathes for relief but not entirely so. The downpour is getting intense, he needs to go through.
Realizing it was the rink, he halted his feet. He cannot go in. Hyejin might be inside and he cannot tell another lie and look at Park Sunghoon in the eye. He decides to walk away, seizing the rain but was halted by a plugged in tune, resulting his feet to go back and snatch a sight.
Suggested track to listen to while reading: Forget Me Not (Enhypen)
It appeared at first she was extremely thwarted until she changed the hue of her skating shoes to a bright baby blue. It's as if there's something about the colour that connected her in deep seated emotion and released her ability to talk through in dance. Park Sunghoon looks exceptional on ice, and she is too, way more better; a natural, a prodigy.
It takes a second or two for the new sight to sink in, even though it is right before his eyes. What he's seeing is larger than life and was left breathless witnessing an astonishing sight. That twirl was the hardest by far, but she made it while dancing to one of their songs - a B-track,  recorded in a different language and didn't get enough exposure. The song's orientation has changed so suddenly, it became top tier with Hyejin's collective spins.
It feels like he's watching a fictional movie where the protagonist put the male lead up on his toes. Jungwon felt his lips stretched wider into a gaping grin and his eyebrows arch for the sky. He wanted to extol but realized he's been intruding. He stepped back and hit the metal bin, it created a crashing sound, stopping Hyejin on her feet.
"W-Who's there?" she asked.
He could run away but that would be awkward. He could reveal himself and say hi but it is more embarassing. Whatever he do, it still could look nosy. Jungwon heaved a sigh as he stepped out.
"Y-Yang Jungwon--" Hyejin gasped, feet turned weak, so close for a falter.
He was the kind of handsome that got into her bones. His smiling eyes is shutting her mouth in accordance to her mind, stopping a single word. Yang Jungwon has the kind of face that can stop any girl off their tracks and she was not an exemption.
Hyejin saw Jungwon paused, followed by a grin as he hushed the words that made her thoughts stumble for an answer.
"Forget Me Not?"
