"Did I heard that right? Y-You're listening to our song?" Jungwon asked, in between confusion and amazement. He went to see the suprise covered her face. Quite expected, he's intruding, for the second time. The first time he did that, she was shaken to the core, and she made her tensed up once again. "I don't mean to say it in a bad way. Y-You were amazing--" Jungwon heaved a sigh, like a reset button for his overflowing emotions. Jungwon saw her limbered up and a small smile played on her lips. He knows he looked like an idiot while staring at her. Guessed she gets that a lot. Who wouldn't be? She looks like the most expensive portrait that comes to life and she moves like the most graceful swan. "Your hair's wet." Hyejin said. Still tucked on his feet, he watched Hyejin regain her poise and how she quickly shuts the music off. She glides closer to her stuff, grabbed something out, while he stood there and fighting with himself on what to say next. "Here." she then continued, offering a clean cloth. "Summer rains are dangerous. You might get sick." Jungwon finds it hard to arrive at a good response. He again signalled a sigh, following a gush. She wanted him to get dried when he didn't even noticed he was a bit soaked. "I don't mean to intrude. It's just-- I cannot find a cover. This is the only place." he said again, apologetically. "It's okay." Hyejin smiles get a little wider, something that comes from her eyes rather than her mouth. "Actually, it's me who needs to apologize. I'm sorry for using your song. The beat matches my routine but no way Coach Jang will allow me to use it, same goes with these shoes." "N-No. It's okay. You can use it if you want, it's an honor. But you--" he fighted the shudder in his voice. "You were amazing. I mean, really, really amazing." In the most breathtaking sight by far, her face changed into that vision of relaxed joy and unrestrained mirth. There is a pure innocence in her grin, putting him in a broad elated feeling, making everything around him disappear once more. The feeling is so complex with no straightforward answer. "Then let that be our secret. Please don't tell anyone." Hyejin jests, smiling. Jungwon was again beaten by the smile. She had the kind of cheshire grin and he would bravely admits, he loved it. It lowered his guard down, making him swallow his words. "This kind of rain--" Hyejin uttered while looking on the outside. "I'm afraid it's not gonna stop soon enough. You're going to stuck with me for quite a while." He felt like he was put in a magical spell. He was fixated as though by magic, freezing his words in the air and just stood there while looking at her in the eye. What is happening? His heart's in a full tilt. Jungwon's spontaneity has suddenly melted. Time hangs heavy, as if it collapses into one tiny speck and explodes at light speed. "I--" he again was at loss for words. Where have all his jolly and sunny side gone? It was taken by the rain, perhaps. He never got to realized, sudden showers can possibly be a good weather after all if she's the sunshine defeating the rain. He's seeing her with the naked eye, unfiltered, and his brain opened to the reality that she's really beautiful, whence, amazement comes. "I'm sorry for what the happened at the Matchmaker's Ball." Hyejin's soft voice awakened his spiraling thoughts. "Is your invitation still valid?" "W-Well-" he keeps on stumbling on his words, like a baby learning how to talk. "W-We-- We're off tomorrow." "Oh!" Hyejin shyly hunched. "But we can still hang out. Right now. Right here." Jungwon was quick to make up. "Right here? How?" "To tell you the truth, the reason why I came here is to glide through this ice. A bit childish, yes. Sunghoon Hyung promised me but it seems like he cannot live up to it. Bad hyung." Jungwon clicked his tongue and freed a silly laugh. "That was such a letdown." Hyejin straightened up, diffident at first, then followed by the words he didn't expect to hear. "Do you want me to teach you?" Her smiling face was a brilliant flash of sunlight breaking through a cloudy sky. It spread slowly, starting at the corners of her lips and reaching her eyes. In that slow time, all his worries have melted away, replaced by an inviting thrill. "If that wouldn't be a little dawdling for you. W-Wait, you're not serious, right?" "Wear this." she glides smoothly and was right in front of his face that fast. "Hurry up before I change my mind." He didn't even know how he puts the boots on. But there he is, standing face to face with Hyejin, close enough to hold his breath impermanently. Jungwon controlled his body not to get stiffen as she laid her hands on his shoulders. "Relax." she hushed. "Just sail away with me and do not let go." He had no idea why she's doing it. He thought she's running away, choosing Ahn Minhyun. But she's seeing ligths in her eyes, something that spells happiness when you are with your favorite person. Or maybe he's just romanticizing it so much. Not long enough, their song was once again lingered in the air and both their skates were parallel to one another, pointing the same angle. The first time he tried to do it alone, he almost had a crash and Jungwon was frightened stepping on the slippery ice surface once again. She's a girl, frail and light, but she carried him like he was bouyant enough to follow her strides. "You want to try the spin?" Hyejin's eyes are strongly coaxing. "I don't think that's a good idea." he nervously chuckled, tightening his grip. "Hold my back." she commanded. "Y-Your back?" "Yes." Hyejin grabbed his one hand out of her shoulder and placed it on her back, the other one on her waist. She then proceeds to clasped her arms around his waist. "Hold me tight. I'm gonna spin you around." Jungwon swilled his breath down. Their unexpected concord brought waves of thrills making his face to go in high color. Coming to that town, he just wanted to glide through ice. He wasn't even looking for anyone at all. But then, he met her. Some things just happened. He tried to avoid her after the first dance, making sure their paths won't cross after his serious talk with Park Sunghoon. But there he is again, in her arms for the second time. She spinned him around, his world spinned too, tilting it out of it's imaginary line. In that sweetest moment of the continuous whirl, he watched her smiling with his two dusty black eyes. He knows he's crossing the line, he looked at her like he'd never really seen a woman before. Then for the first time in his entire existence, he felt like if he opened his mouth nothing witty or interesting would come out. He knows he never asked for it but it hit him hard. It's big, emotional impact left him in awe. He never asked for it. He never asked to fall in love but what the hell is happening? The last turn of their skates before if finally came into a halt felt like a time flow. He stood still and couldn't believe what he had just realized. Jungwon could feel the wind brushed the top of his hair, awakening his lost senses. "You just took me to heaven and back." he unbelievably hushed, astonishment in his eyes. Hyejin laughed. Her chuckle sounds like a soul elevator, transporting him to somewhere serene, away from the worries of life. "Forget-me-not is my favorite flower, especially the color blue." she timidly admits. And just like that, everything made sense, leaving him in another moment to gape at her stunning face. The hue of baby blue, her favorite flower and their long forgotten song, it somehow made a connection. Her favorite flower represents a promise, that you will always remember a person and will keep them in your thoughts. A bittersweet goodbye. And his feelings? Will it easily die? "I guess, it's time to say goodbye now. Let's work hard, Yang Jungwon-ssi. I'm rooting for you, leader-nim." "Yeah, let's work hard. I'm also rooting for you too, ice queen." It looks like the rain is just waiting for the exchange of farewells to put an end to it's trickle. Slowly pulling apart, their smiles never cleave. It's the parting he never wished to have.
