Chapter 15: The Shattered Resolve

As Levy raced through the forest, his heart pounded with urgency. He pushed his body to its limits, the trees blurring past him in a green frenzy. Lucy and Ela struggled to keep up, their expressions a mix of worry and determination.
“We have to stop Yuan before it’s too late!” Levy shouted over his shoulder.
Ela, her eyes focused ahead, responded, “We’re almost there, Levy. Just a bit further!”
The group reached the edge of a vast lake, the Core Stone glowing ominously at its center. Yuan and his dark elves were already at the lake’s edge, preparing to complete their dark ritual. The massive beast, a serpentine creature with scales that shimmered like dark metal, was restrained by magical chains emanating from the Core Stone.
Levy’s desperate charge
Levy wasted no time. He sprinted towards Yuan and the beast, his wooden sword in hand. Yuan, sensing the approaching threat, turned with a sneer.
“Did you really think you could stop me?” Yuan taunted. “You’re too late.”
Levy ignored the taunt and charged forward, using his Dragon Slayer technique to cut through the ranks of dark elves. Each swing of his sword was precise and powerful, pushing back the enemy forces.
The beast roared in fury, its chains rattling as it struggled. “Release me!” it bellowed.
Levy focused on Yuan, determined to end this battle quickly. He executed a series of powerful strikes, his wooden sword glowing with the Dragon Slayer’s energy. The impact was fierce, but Yuan’s dark magic protected him.
Yuan countered with a wave of dark energy. “You’re strong, but not strong enough!” he exclaimed.
Unexpected twist
As Levy closed in on Yuan, it seemed victory was within reach. However, Yuan’s dark magic began to converge with the Core Stone’s power, creating a surge of energy that distorted the air. The beast’s roar grew louder, its chains glowing with dark energy.
Suddenly, Yuan unleashed a powerful spell, casting a dark barrier around himself and the Core Stone. The barrier repelled Levy’s attacks, leaving him exposed.
“Levy, watch out!” Ela’s voice echoed as she tried to get closer, but the barrier kept her at bay.
Desperate battle
Levy gritted his teeth and continued fighting, using his new skills to break through Yuan’s defenses. He unleashed the Fire Slice technique, slashing through the dark barrier. For a moment, it seemed as if he might succeed.
But just as Levy was about to strike Yuan, the beast’s chains broke free. It lunged forward, its dark energy fully unleashed. The sheer force of the beast’s attack sent Levy flying backwards. He crashed to the ground, his wooden sword cracking under the pressure.
Yuan, now fully empowered, turned his attention to the beast. “Good, you’re finally free. Now, let’s finish this!”
The crushing blow
With the Core Stone’s power enhancing the beast, it unleashed a torrent of energy that decimated everything in its path. Levy struggled to get up, but his wooden sword was shattered, and his strength was waning.
The beast roared in triumph, its power now uncontested. It turned its fury towards Levy, who was barely able to stand. Despite his efforts, Levy couldn’t withstand the beast’s assault. Each strike from the beast was devastating, and Levy’s condition worsened.
“Don’t give up, Levy!” Ela shouted desperately from behind the barrier.
The final confrontation
As the beast prepared its final attack, Levy found himself on his knees, battered and bruised. He looked up at Yuan, who stood with a sinister smile.
“You’ve fought bravely,” Yuan said coldly. “But it’s over now.”
Levy, barely conscious, tried to rise but failed. The beast’s power surged, and Levy could only watch as it unleashed a devastating final attack. The impact was overwhelming, sending Levy crashing to the ground.
Ela and Lucy, unable to break through the barrier, watched in horror as Levy lay on the ground, wounded and defeated. Yuan’s laughter echoed as he and the beast prepared to leave.
The heart-wrenching moment
As Levy lay on the ground, his vision blurred, he heard the anguished cries of his friends. Lucy, her eyes filled with tears, rushed to Levy’s side.
“Levy, stay with us!” she pleaded, but Levy was too weak to respond.
Ela, her face pale, knelt beside Levy. “We’ll get through this. I promise.”
Yuan and the beast, now fully empowered, turned towards the human country, ready to unleash their fury. The armies of the dark elves followed, leaving Levy, Ela, and Lucy behind.
A glimmer of hope
Despite his dire condition, Levy’s spirit remained unbroken. He clung to the hope that his friends would find a way to stop Yuan and the beast. Lucy, determined to save her friend, worked on healing Levy’s wounds as best as she could.
“We’ll find a way to stop them,” Lucy said, her voice steady despite her worry.
Ela nodded, her eyes filled with resolve. “We have to. For Levy, and for everyone.”
As the dark elves and the beast marched towards the human country, Levy’s friends vowed to continue the fight, even if Levy was unable to join them. Their mission was far from over, and the battle against the dark elves had only just begun.
