Aiden's P.O.V
I tuck in my white blouse to the pink trousers, buttoning up the pants I look straight at my reflection. A slight smile forms on my lips when I hear Lisa still squealing as a kid found her missing favourite toy. She is really head over heels for Riley, the way she jumped forward to welcome him and served him is unlike her. She has been repeating that she is his fan countless times and that ear-to-ear smile never leaves her face.
I put on the blush pink coat, taking a look at myself... It's been quite a time to see myself officially dressed, the image in front of me in that suit... reminds me something...
I run my hand through the brief strands as I step closer to the mirror... I'm clueless of why this flashed in my mind but to be honest yet it didn't affect me...Mike...He often tells me that I look splendid in this suit... Splendid? My foot...That bastard...Thank God I'm haughty of myself that I didn't even feel a thing when he states all rubbish...
I gather my hair up and I clip it, grabbing my phone I walk out of the room, my feet stop in its tracks when Riley stands. His eyes already at my way, his mouth twitches to a grin, the two scorch orbs scrolls up and down.
"Seems like someone is over the moon," I bug peeking at Lisa, her smile widens when she notices me.
"Of course, I'm his diehard fan after all," she strolls and stops by my side hugging me sideways "We shared our numbers," she giggles like a kid.
I nod as I understand how much delighted she is right now.... I'm pretty sure that she will be jumping all over once we leave.
"Shall I add another merry news for you," I ask, we converse forgetting the presence of the third party, I pass a glance at him catching him looking at us.
"Yeah," she snakes her other arm around me and turns me to face her "What is it?" She asks cheerfully.
"If we win the trial today let's hang out at night," my eyes observe her already blushed cheeks, she is easy to be flushed up and she is such an open book "Blake will be there," her already blushed cheeks brighten at the mention of his name.
Damn...she still likes him
"You've got an audition, right?" She lets her hands drop with an aloud histrionic sigh, she hangs out her rose plump lower lip to a pout and nods "Best of luck," I pat on her head.
"Bid goodbye to the ex-idol," I sneer passing another glance at him, seated on the sofa he picks the cookies from the basket.
"Ex idol," Lisa repeats her voice comes out a little loud without her realisation which makes Riley to look at us, she lets out a nervous laugh and moves closer to me.
"He is still everyone's idol, his fans are still crazy of him, he is popular" she whispers.
"Popular," I repeat...the person I've been working with is popular... "You know," I state "When we were walking around the streets there was not even one being who noticed him," I put on a serious face as I look into her "Not even one," I repeat giving pressure to the words and it's true though, I never saw anyone who jumped forward and greeted him in public, it was like he is ordinary.
"My god Aiden," she places her hand over her chest and lifts her chin high, this dramatic posture... Damn. Why am I around the same kind of people... I get it now why she is a fan of him because both are good at exaggerating themselves, she moves her eyeballs down swiftly checking on me, whether I'm paying attention to her, she averts her gaze the very next second as she bites her lower lip making her eyes small and continues pressuring on the last two words "How can you tell something like to that handsome face. "
"Handsome," she snaps at me when I repeat the adjective "All the best in your audition," I walk away to put on my shoes.
"Hey, what’s with that tone? ," Lisa follows me to the doorway.
"You mean he is not handsome," she adds.
I hold in my laughter as I peep over her shoulders "Are you gonna stay here? Wanna be late to court? ," I call out.
"How can you be rude to your boyfriend?"
I crease my brows at her questionably.
"Okay, your contracted boyfriend," she clicks her tongue.
"We are colleagues," I correct her statement, Lisa rolls her eyes... The funny thing is that she cannot do that perfectly that her eyeballs just slide up and down.
She steps aside when Riley enters the scene.
"Seems like an argument," he blurts.
"Not an argument," Lisa corrects, she fixes her eyes on me and adds "A debate," she announces.
"Indeed," I nod when Riley looks at me curiously.
He scratches the back of his head and asks "What is it about?"
Lisa crosses her arms on her chest and lifts her head.
"She said that you are popular and handsome," I utter dryly.
"You gotta be kidding me," Riley exclaims, his jaw literally dropped to the ground "Were you both discussing about me all this while?" his lips part as he moves his gaze to Lisa and then at me.
"Is that something to be debated on, in the first place," he arches a brow perfectly "Isn't the answer obvious?" He turns to the left to face Lisa.
"Yeah," Lisa nods.
"Alright, you won," I blurt, passing a wink at Lisa I exit.
My lips spread to a grin when I hear Riley "See you, let's meet again," his loud voice enough to get into my ears even though that I'm few steps away from the open door.
The sound of footsteps gets closer, I stop when he hops forward next to me.
"What's with that tone?" He dooms, his voice sounded like a chic at the end.
"What tone?" I frown as I face him.
"The tone of disapproval," he says.
Seriously, Is this conversation worth the time? However, teasing him gives a different kind of satisfaction.
I rub my chin as I gaze at him from top to bottom, he stands still examining my actions "It's really hard to tell," I scoff.
His eyes widen and his lip's part, his shoulders fall over while he looks at me taken back.... he is in a state like as if I declared that he is an adopted child. As always, I ignore his act and walk away.
We yank the door open, only the noise of objects around us. The engine starts and I drive to the court.
The stair case is surrounded by reporters, they march towards the car as a hive of bees. They jerk towards us as soon as I pull the break...I toss the key to my suit's pocket.
"We are just a few steps away from the beginning," I move my head to the left, Riley removes his gaze from the windscreen and looks at me.
"Yes," He clicks his tongue making a noise of flipping the bottle top, he lifts his hand and gestures a thumbs up, his right cheek lifts up when he folds his right eye to a flat line, the right corner of his lip dragged upwards.
Pursing my lips to a flat line I face the opposite direction as I tuck my bangs behind my ears and I turn to him again, I nod as I lift my hand showing him a thumb the same way as he did.
We nod in unison and turn around; I push the door open stepping out in the crowd I close the door behind me and walk to the other side. Riley joins me. The reporters gather around us as they nudge asking a ton of questions.
Why are you taking the side of your father's murderer?
Was Lawyer Mintz really a money grabber?
Do you have valid evidence?
Was the murder planned?
Do you think you are right?
What if he is the real culprit?
"All your questions will be answered after the trial," Riley announces, we enter the federal building.
We wander between the seats of the public gallery, Riley walks ahead and pushes the short wooden gate he enters the lectern. He turns around, his lips spread to an assuring smile as he sits on the seat of the attorney table.
I look around my vision lands on the familiar face, the one who stares at me. I tuck the few strands of hair which has fallen off the clip behind my ears, looking around I move myself to the first-row bench.
I take my seat beside the lady seated next to the man, her blonde hair pulled up to a neat high bun, her skinny legs crossed the point of the heel getting contact with me. I clear my throat as I lean over to my right closer to her and whisper "Excuse me, your heel," I point at her shoe.
The hazel eyes take a glimpse of me, she purses her red velvet lips as she rolls her big eyes and moves her leg.
She is Tira Liam, A lawyer who will do anything to win a case. It's tragic that a beauty like her has committed a quite number of murders yet not caught red handed.
The judge enters the room, everyone present stands. The air in the room captures silence when the cops bring Philips.
"Take the stand," the Judge orders.
Everything went smooth and from the beginning we are at advantage. To be honest, I just couldn't remove my eyes off Riley when he spoke, the seriousness he held was visible in his face and I'm sure that he is tensed.
"May I play the video?" his request grabs the complete attention of the two being seated next to me, Tira leans forward, she fidgets with her fingers anxiously.
With permission Riley clicks on the button of the tiny remote in his hand, the video plays in the screen where Mr Kim, Tira's assistant is the one who drove the lorry. His face clearly captured by the dash camera of the food truck.
His actions recorded, Kim sits up straight immediately after the vehicle was crashed in the shop, Philips was seated on the passenger seat, he carries Philips to the driver seat and escapes the scene. Everything was done in a blink of an eye that I didn't notice anything even if I was there at the scene.
"My defendant was unconscious at that moment," Riley explains as he hands over the medical statement of the date to the judge "His fingerprints were found because it was to frame him,"
"Leave, leave," Tira hisses, her legs never stop shaking.
Kim stands as he lowers his body, he rushes to the doorway but unfortunately the cops stop him. The discussion takes a while and after a long wait the judge gives his verdict.
"By the evidence shown, it distinctly proves that Philips Rollen is innocent."Download Novelah App
