Third Person P.O.V
The messy room is clean for once with no clothes around, some ornaments packed in a cardboard box. Riley stands straight after he tapes the boxes, he looks around a smile makes its way on his lips when he spots the red blinking light at the corner of the room. Dusting his hands, he pulls a chair and stands on it, he slowly pulls out the cameras fixed, his phone rings the very next second.
"Why did you remove the cameras?" Aiden questions as soon as he answers the call.
"I forgot to inform, I'm moving out," he sighs as he throws the camera to a bag.
"Where to?"
"To my house,"
"Your house?"
"The place where dad was staying, I find it useless to pay the rent with the money in hand,"
"Hmm, it's the first time I see you making sense," she jokes.
"I always make sense," Riley scowls, he chuckles when he realises that the call is hung before he spoke.
The luxury room is brightened with enormous fascinating lights, the tables arranged with variety of deserts and wine. The thin long finger grips the glass, the diamond ring shimmers reflecting the light, her hazel lens look around as she takes a sip of the red wine. She purses her red velvet tinted lips as she places the glass on the table.
"What is Kim up to?" The cold voice questions his blue eyes blazing like fire.
"I got him out of prison," Tira flips her hair "He is greedy for revenge," she says.
"Are you sure that he will get rid of Riley?"
"Yes," Tira replies "What about the girl with him, she seems to be the main one,"
"If someone lays a finger on her," he gulps down the remaining wine in his glass "I'll bury them alive," he slams the glass on the table, Tira flinches watching him with knitted brows.
She stays silent not asking anymore questions because she knows that he will be rigorous. The heavy door of the room opens, the bloodied man limps forward followed by two bulky men, there vest shows off their tattooed arms. The weak man walks slowly dragging his right leg, his face stained with the blood which oozes out from the wound of his head. His loud heavy breaths capture the silent air. He falls on his knees next to the cushioned chair on which Chloe is seated.
"Sir," his weak voice comes out, his dry throat making him difficult to utter more words "I checked all around, I did not see the food truck," he blurts trying his best not to stutter, he looks up at the pair of ocean blue eyes which are looking down at him with no sense of pity, he joins his hands as he lowers his head "Please spare my life , please," he begs, tears roll down his cheeks uncontrollably "I have a family," he continues to beg for his life "Please spare me," he bends his upper body a little lower "I'll try my best the next time," he cries.
Tira's eyes fixes on the person, her thin brows meet when he continues to beg, she rolls her eyes when she looks at Chloe who pours the wine to the glass, he drinks like the person below him never existed.
"You should have done your job well," his cold voice gets everyone's attention "See...," he places the glass on the table and moves back looking at the man "They have filed a lawsuit against my group last week," he moves back looking down at the man "Anyways," he comes forward the pair of cold eyes never leaving the begging ones "It was because of you that we were in court at the first place," he says, his voice blunt showing no frustration nor empathy.
Chloe grips the top of the bottle, he swiftly cuts in the air, the glass getting contact on the man's neck. He falls to the ground the very moment; his hand tries to remove the piece of glass stuck in his skin. Chloe stands and steps toward the laying body, his mouth twitches when he lifts his leg, his shoe lands on the edge of the large piece of glass on his neck.
"I hate when my plan fails," he grinds his teeth as he tramples on his neck slowly which makes the glass to go through the skin slow yet painful, the room fills with the dry scream of the suffocating man, the sharp object pushed into his skin, he tries to pull Chloe's leg away but couldn't.
Riley removes the tape of the last box and looks straight.
"Why did you call me to help, it's not like you have to carry furniture all over," Aiden grunts as she throws herself to the chair and examines the open boxes of few objects and plenty of clothes.
"I called you for help..." he chuckles standing "To fold the clothes," he scratches the back of his neck.
"You serious?" Aiden asks dryly crossing her arms over her chest "Sure but on one condition," she states "If I see your clothes all over again, I'll flick your head,"
"Just a flick," he repeats cheerfully as he lifts his hand and shows a thumbs up "Deal!" He clicks his tongue passing her a wink.
Aiden stands and carries the box upstairs "Give me a hand," she orders.
Half of the dresses are arranged in the cupboard, Riley tosses the shirt in his hands as he lets out a loud sigh, he moves back resting his palms on the floor and leans over his arm, he looks up at the ceiling. His eyeballs move down as he takes a glance at Aiden who is folding the dresses.
"That night," Riley breaks the longing silence, she continues her work listening to him "I remembered what happened," he chuckles.
"You remember everything?" she turns to him immediately.
"Everything? I remember that I pulled you to the bed with me,"
"Oh," she continues to work not surprised.
"Is there anything else to remember?"
"Nothing,"
"You know what I thought," he sits straight and turns to face her.
"Something wild I guess," Aiden says.
Riley looks at her for a moment a smile makes its way on his lips "Yeah," he chuckles awkwardly thinking of what wild thoughts ran in his head.
"Are you and Chloe close?" He asks out of nowhere.
Aiden looks at him and says "Seems like you are interested to talk about him," she picks the pile of folded clothes and places in the cupboard.
"Not exactly," he exhales "How did you meet your ex?" He changes the topic.
Aiden faces him again "None of your business," she states dryly and pulls out the clothes from the last box.
"You're so boring, nothing is gonna happen if you tell it” He whines like a kid.
She takes a second of silent and speaks "Our fathers were friends so they expected us be together, everything went well at the beginning but after dad was arrested, I found him with another girl."
"Did you have feelings for him?" Riley asks.
"It would be a lie if I say no," she says the truth.
"If I was your boyfriend, I will never cheat on you," his words take her attention, her actions stop and she turns to look at him.
Riley looks at her his words ringing in his own ears, his expression shows that he is not joking around as he stares at her his eyes sincere.
"You sure won't," She scoffs as she looks away and stands.
Riley stands immediately, he follows her downstairs "Why do you always give me that tone?" He scowls.
"I got to go, see yah," she takes her phone.
Riley jumps forward before she walks out, takes the key from the shelf and throws it to her, she catches it.
"Drive home it's late, it's difficult to find a taxi here," he says.
She pushes the key to her jeans pocket "Thanks," she blurts dryly barely audible.
As always, the dim street light dulls the dark road, only one or two people to be found in the street as it's already half pass eleven at night. Aiden inserts the key into the hole, she furrows her brows looking at the side mirror when she notices a man wearing a black surgical mask. She puts her head out through the window watching the man who casually walks passing the lane of Riley's place. She sits back relaxed not finding him suspicious.
Riley walks downstairs, a wide smile appears on his face when he hears the creek of the door expecting Aiden to be back. He runs downstairs, enthusiastically he makes his way to the door way. His footsteps stop as he holds in his breath without his realisation when the unknown person closes the door and turns around, his old eyes squinted in rage.
The man steps forward which makes Riley to step back instantly, he observes the man curiously not being able to figure out the person behind the mask. He then keeps a wide step backward and turns around, in a blink of an eye he runs.
Boom!
The glass of the window shatters when the bullet gets through the transparent object, Riley's feet roots on the spot his eyes widen in horror when the rough voice orders "Stop right there," his voice loud enough to get into Riley's ears.
Gulping down the lump in his throat he turns around, his forehead straight in a quiet distance from the gun point on which the silencer is attached.
"Who are you?" Riley questions controlling his tone to show no fear.
He fixes his eyes on the person opposite to him, he slowly takes a step backwards getting closer to the table behind him, moving his arms behind his back he grips the vase on it.
"Go to your dad!" the man yells as he moves his finger closer to the trigger.
Riley jumps forward swiftly to hit the man with the vase but the result of his movement is on his fingertips. Riley's body hit the floor when the bullet gets through the air, his eyes squeezed shut. He lifts his eyelids immediately when the weight on his body disappears. Aiden gets on her feet in a flash and elbows the man on his chest as she snatches the gun from his grip simultaneously which makes him to stumble backwards. Before she couldn't react, he runs out, she lets out a growl and turns to see Riley on the floor his eyes big, his lips parted in astonishment.
"How did you get in?" He asks between his heavy breaths.
"From the back door," she answers looking at the gun, she lifts the back part of her T-shirt and puts the gun at the belt part of her jeans.
"You okay," she offers him a hand.
He passes her a slight smile and holds her hand lifting his body from the ground. He dusts his hands and looks around.
"Should we go to the police?" He walks to the broken window.
"No need," Aiden exhales "I think it's Kim."
"Kim?" He faces Aiden.
"I'm not sure about it," she rubs the back of her neck looking around "I don't think it's safe for you to be alone here because they will try to get rid of you so the trial will be called off," she looks away and walks to the door "Get someone to fix the window and the broken lock of the door." She suggests him to move out as the neighbourhood is place like no much people will gather around even if there is a sound of gunshot, she also worries that the house is at the end of the lane, away from main road therefore it will be difficult for him to at least seek help
"Then shall I come to your place?” Riley rushes to the door.
"Isn't a hotel in your choice?" She asks.
"That really hurt me," he places his hand on his chest painfully, the corners of his lips dragged downwards "What if someone comes there as well?" He blurts in a low voice.
Aiden stares at him for a while and rolls her eyes "Lisa is staying over with Blake so you can," she says.
His face beams with a bright smile, he shows her thumbs up and clicks his tongue, she chuckles at his instant change of expression.
"By the way how do you know that there is a problem," he questions curiously at her sudden return, and if she doesn't return his head shot body would be laying in the house.
"Just a hunch," she utters and walks out.
‘” I’m glad that you’re worried about me,” Riley utters under his breath.
