Chapter 23 WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME, AVA?

"You don't understand, Ava," Valentin said, his voice low and husky. "I can't control my thirst for blood on a full moon night."
As he spoke, his eyes began to change. They turned a piercing yellow, and his pupils grew smaller. I felt a shiver run down my spine as I saw his fangs descend, sharp and gleaming in the moonlight.
"Valentin, no!" I cried, trying to reach out to him.
But he was beyond reason. He stood up, his body tense and rigid, his eyes fixed on me with a hungry gleam.
"Ava, run," he growled, his voice barely human.
But I didn't move. I was frozen in terror, unable to look away from the monster in front of me.
And then, in a flash of movement, Valentin was beside me, his fangs bared and ready to strike.
But just as suddenly, he stopped. He looked at me, his eyes clearing slightly, and I saw a glimmer of recognition there.
"Ava," he whispered, his voice full of anguish. "Forgive me."
As Valentin turned to leave, I grabbed his arm, trying to stop him. And then, on impulse, I kissed him on the cheek.
It was a gentle kiss, but it seemed to affect him somehow. He froze, his body tense, and then slowly turned back to me.
His eyes burned with intensity as he looked at me, and then, without a word, he kissed me on the lips.
It was a fierce, passionate kiss, and I felt myself melting into it. For a moment, I forgot about the danger, forgot about the fact that he was a vampire, and just lost myself in the sensation.
Valentin's fangs grazed my lips, but he didn't bite. Instead, he deepened the kiss, his tongue exploring my mouth with a tender urgency.
I felt my heart racing, my pulse pounding in my veins. It was like nothing I'd ever experienced before.
And then, just as suddenly as it had begun, the kiss ended. Valentin pulled back, his eyes still burning with intensity, and looked at me with a mixture of wonder and fear.
"Ava," he whispered, his voice barely audible. "What have you done to me?"
I didn't understand what Valentin meant, but I didn't care. I raised up on my tiptoes, trying to reach his height, and kissed him again.
This time, the kiss was even more passionate, even more intense. Valentin's arms wrapped around me, pulling me close as he deepened the kiss.
I felt like I was melting into him, like our bodies were becoming one. The world around us faded away, leaving only the two of us, lost in the moment.
Valentin's fangs grazed my lips again, but I didn't care. I wanted him, all of him, and I wasn't afraid.
As we kissed, I felt a strange sensation, like my heart was beating in time with Valentin's. It was as if our very souls were connecting, becoming one.
And then, just as suddenly as it had begun, everything stopped. Valentin pulled back, his eyes wide with shock, and looked at me like he'd never seen me before.
"Ava," he whispered, his voice full of wonder. "You're...you're different. You're like me."
I didn't understand what he meant, but I didn't care. I knew that I loved him, and that was all that mattered.
"I don't care what I am," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
Valentin smiled and ushered me to sit down beside him. He looked at me with a curious expression, his eyes tracing the contours of my face. His fingers touched my cheek, then slid down to my neck, and back again.
"What are you doing?" I asked, feeling a shiver run down my spine.
Valentin's eyes locked onto mine. "I'm trying to understand," he said, his voice low and husky. "When you kissed me, something strange happened. I didn't feel the urge to bite you. In fact, I forgot all about my thirst for blood."
I was taken aback. "What do you mean?"
Valentin's fingers continued to explore my skin, sending shivers down my spine. "I mean that when I'm around you, I feel...different. My instincts fade away, and all I can think about is being close to you."
I felt my heart racing, my pulse pounding in my veins. "That's impossible," I whispered. "You're a vampire. You need blood to survive."
Valentin's eyes gleamed with intensity. "I know. But when I'm with you, Ava, I feel like I can defy the impossible. I feel like I can be human again."
I didn't know what to say, didn't know what to think.
"Kiss me again," Valentin said, his eyes gleaming with desire.
But I quickly jumped up from the couch, trying to put some distance between us. "No! That's enough for a day," I said, trying to sound firm.
Valentin just smiled, his fangs glinting in the light. "Are you trying to say I'm seducing you, Ava?" he asked, his voice low and husky.
I felt my face heat up with a blush. "Maybe," I admitted. "You're definitely trying to distract me from the fact that you're a vampire."
Valentin chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Guilty as charged," he said. "But I promise you, Ava, my intentions are pure. I just can't help myself when I'm around you."
I raised an eyebrow, trying to look skeptical. "Save it, Valentin," I said. "I'm not buying it."
But despite my tough words, I couldn't help feeling drawn to him. He was like a magnet, pulling me in with his charm and his good looks.
And those eyes...oh, those eyes. They seemed to see right through me, to the very heart of me.
I shivered, feeling a chill run down my spine. I needed to get out of there, before I did something I might regret.
