Episode 24.
Dean then took a deep breath, glanced at Olivia, and decided to step back so they could resume their discussion, especially now that Alpha William was already present.
"Let's get back to business," Dean said as Olivia approached, with Gwen following behind. They stood behind her father, looking at what he was explaining.
"So this is the creature that I saw and fought with," Williams said, pointing at the drawing on the table. Olivia studied it closely, trying to recognize it.
"As we can all see from the fangs, the claws, and its appearance, it's clearly a werewolf too," he stated.
Mula coughed, drawing attention as he examined the drawing.
"How can it be so powerful and fast? Why would it fight against its own kind if it's truly a werewolf?" Mula asked. Williams nodded in agreement.
Olivia and Gwen listened intently, trying to grasp the discussion but not fully comprehending yet.
"Mula is right. I was thinking the same thing," Ryan chimed in.
"This one is on a higher level, almost godlike, and it's extremely dangerous for any werewolf to confront. It doesn't hesitate to kill," Alpha Williams explained, looking at them. Elena raised her hand.
"That's concerning. But where did it come from? I haven't heard of such a werewolf before. Why was it targeting all the werewolves?" Elena asked, capturing everyone's attention.
As she finished her questions, all eyes turned back to Williams, curious to hear his response.
"Well, the wolf once lived, but that was centuries ago. Legends have it that it was created by the moon goddess as a punishment for the werewolves who disobeyed her orders," he explained.
"What were her orders?" Olivia inquired, signaling her understanding of the situation, as did Gwen.
"There was a great Alpha named Noah. He was a powerful leader, much like Dean. Noah had control over all the werewolf packs, and he was highly respected. His rank was considered a blessing from the moon goddess. However, one day, the goddess decided to withdraw her blessings and curse him instead," Alpha Williams declared, pausing briefly to gather his thoughts.
"The goddess wanted him to mate with an ordinary human, but he refused. She instructed him to care for her and be with her because she alone could be his mate and bear his child. His refusal led to a tragic event where he killed the human mate and fed on her," he revealed, causing Dean to look down with a hint of regret on his face.
Elena was the only one who noticed Dean's reaction but chose to look away, pretending not to have seen it.
"Due to his actions, the moon goddess cursed him and the entire wolf world, unleashing a beast that sought to take the lives of all werewolves," Alpha Williams concluded.
After hearing this revelation, everyone kept their eyes fixed on the ground, lost in their thoughts and silently hoping that it couldn't be true.
Dean, like the others, had similar thoughts, but throughout the ongoing discussion, he refrained from speaking out. He wanted to demonstrate that he wasn't desperate or as fearful as the rest, hence he remained silent, unprepared to utter a word.
Amidst the silence, Elena chose to break it. "So, based on the story you just shared, does this imply that we have somehow offended the moon goddess, leading her to punish us through the monster again?" Elena inquired, to which Williams gently nodded in agreement.
"Indeed," he confirmed, prompting everyone to ponder what transgression could have provoked the moon goddess.
Max then asked, "What actions could have possibly upset the moon goddess?" Dean, with a deep voice, interrupted, "Enough of that! Our primary concern should be figuring out how to eliminate this threat. Why would the moon goddess choose to punish us in such a heartless manner? We have done nothing to deserve this!" Dean's voice resonated as he moved around the group, finally locking eyes with Williams as he rested his hands on the table.
"How were they able to overcome this creature when it attacked them?" Dean inquired with unwavering determination, while Williams shook his head in response. "It was not a matter of defeating it. The moon goddess relented only after witnessing their remorse and suffering," Williams explained, drawing everyone's attention to Dean.
Realizing that battling the monster werewolf was futile, Dean understood that they needed an alternative approach—appeasing the moon goddess. However, Dean, known for his stubbornness and reluctance to retreat from a fight, grappled with this realization.
After hearing William's words, Dean glanced briefly at Elena, then at the floor, before looking back at Williams.
"And you, I'm asking you as a physician," Dean said, swallowing nervously as Williams patiently waited for him to speak.
"Do you know of any way we could defeat that monster?" he inquired, with Williams meeting his gaze and nodding.
"Well, I can't be certain, but I have a theory that might harm the beast," Williams revealed, piquing Dean's interest.
"Please, go on and share it with me," Dean urged.
"It involves water from the River Styx. I believe that this water has the potential to burn the creature. If it can heal supernatural wounds, it stands to reason that it could also harm such a being. Considering this creature's origins from the moon, and I think it's possibly created by the Moon Goddess using water from the River Styx, it may be vulnerable to it," Williams explained, scanning the faces of those present, though Mula did not seem convinced by his words.
"Can you clarify further? Are you certain that this water can harm the beast? How confident are you in this theory?" Mula inquired, to which Williams shook his head and shrugged.
"I mentioned earlier that this was merely a suggestion. I cannot guarantee its effectiveness; it's just a thought I had," Williams responded, prompting Mula to exchange a look with Dean as they silently communicated.
"As you heard, he's uncertain. What if we rely on this water to fight the monster, only to find it ineffective? We would be left defenseless and facing certain death," Mula cautioned, pausing to take a deep breath before continuing.
"Why don't we calm down and try to understand how we may have offended the moon goddess, and figure out how to make amends," Mula suggested. However, Dean seemed to ignore him, turning his attention to Alpha Williams.
"Alpha, do you have the water from the river Styx, or should we think about how we can obtain it?" Dean inquired. Alpha William nodded, reaching into his bag in the hall and producing a small container filled with water.
"Yes, I believe I have a little of it," he replied, placing the container on the table. Dean grinned slightly.
"Great! Let's confront the beast," he declared, which prompted Ryan to intervene.
"I think Mula might be onto right. Let's consider our options and not rush into a reckless battle, not just for yourself but for the future of your unborn child, Dean," Ryan suggested, meeting Dean's gaze.
"If we don't try, we'll never know if we can defeat it. We must face the monster; everyone should be prepared," Dean insisted. Just then, the warning bell rang, indicating the monster's arrival. They looked at each other, and Dean smiled bravely.Download Novelah App
