CHAPTER 21 ♡

A week had passed.....
A week had passed since Hera gave birth to their handsome son. For that entire week, she had been lying in this hospital bed, as her family and husband forbade her from moving too much.
Even though Hera was in a VIP room, she wanted to go outside to walk in the hospital garden. During her 14 days in the hospital, it was only yesterday that her husband took her to the garden after she gently begged him.
Hera was getting bored just staying in the room, so she pleaded with her husband to take her outside for some fresh air in the back garden. Now, their son was sleeping soundly beside her, having been fed well.
In the room, it was just the three of them. However, her husband seemed oblivious to her presence, focusing solely on their newborn's face, who was just fourteen days old. Hera felt a bit neglected.
She turned away from them, shifting her position to face away from her husband and son.
Noticing her strange behavior, Max stood up and approached Hera’s bed. He sat on the edge and gently stroked her hair. He could see that she wasn’t asleep but merely had her eyes closed. He kissed her right cheek, hoping she would look at him.
Instead, Hera covered her face with her hands, wiping away Max's kiss. Realizing her behavior had changed, Max became more confused about how to comfort her, unsure why she was acting sulky.
“What's wrong, Sweety? Did I do something to upset you?” Max asked gently, still stroking her head.
Hera shook her head and opened her hands to reveal her face to him. She pouted, indicating her dissatisfaction with her current feelings. Perhaps the sensitive hormones from her pregnancy still affected her, making her more emotional.
Max asked again, “Tell me, Sweety. I’ll give you whatever you want.”
“I... feel jealous of our baby because he’s the only one you pay attention to now,” Hera confessed honestly.
Max sighed heavily, surprised by her answer. On one hand, he felt overwhelmed by her honesty; on the other, he struggled to hold back laughter at the idea that she was jealous of their own child.
“You're jealous of our baby, Sweety?” he asked softly, kissing her cheek again. Max lay down beside her and pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly to express his love.
Feeling the warmth of her husband's embrace, Hera smiled slightly and turned to face him. She returned the hug and inhaled Max's minty scent. His hugs always had a calming effect on her.
“I just feel like you love Evan more than me,” she murmured softly.
Evander Maxton—this was the name they had chosen for their son, which all their family members had agreed upon.
“Never think like that, Sweety. I love you and our child very much. I love you, Sweety!” Max replied, kissing her forehead.
Hera nodded and gave him a quick kiss on the lips. Max deepened the kiss, wanting to pour his affection into that moment.
After feeling breathless, they finally stopped kissing. Max kissed her forehead gently and ran his fingers through her long hair to help her relax.
Comforted by his gentle touch, Hera buried her face in his chest. Soon, they both fell asleep in each other's arms, recharging their energy.
Oekk...oekk...
The sound of their baby's cries woke Hera and Max from their deep slumber. Hera gently tapped Max's arm, hoping he would loosen his hold. She needed to check on their son, as the crying was getting louder.
Max slowly opened his eyes, still groggy and unaware of the baby’s cries.
“What’s wrong, Sweety?” he asked, his voice hoarse.
“Let go of me, honey. Baby Evan is crying,” Hera replied, trying to lift his arm.
Max, realizing this, woke up fully and immediately released her. The young father quickly got up from the bed to attend to their baby. He tried to calm the little one, but nothing seemed to work.
Hera got up from the bed to join her husband and son.
“Why won’t he stop crying, Sweety?” Max asked, panic on his face.
“Please check his diaper, honey. He might have pooped,” Hera suggested.
Max immediately checked the diaper, but it was still clean.
“There's nothing, Sweety. Try nursing him first; I think he’s hungry,” Max said.
He encouraged Hera to sit up in the hospital bed for easier nursing. Once she found a comfortable position, she reached out to take the still-crying baby.
Max handed baby Evan to Hera. Seeing his source of food, baby Evan began to nurse.
A few minutes later, the baby stopped crying, having found what he needed. He closed his eyes and fell back asleep, feeling full. Seeing his son asleep, Max took baby Evan and moved him to a special crib provided by his mother.
Max returned to the bed where Hera was lying and lay down beside her. Feeling her husband’s presence, Hera hugged him tightly.
“Honey... I want something to eat,” Hera said softly, afraid of waking their baby.
“What do you want to eat, Sweety? I’ll get it for you,” Max replied, gently stroking her beautiful hair.
“Hmmm... I just want some of the fruit over there. Can you please get it for me?” Hera responded, pointing to the fruit on the table.
Max kissed her forehead before getting the fruit she wanted. Hera ate the fruit he brought her, feeling hungry after nursing.
Once her hunger was satisfied, Hera suggested they both go back to sleep since it was still early. They continued to sleep, resting before returning to the mansion the next day.
