Chapter 12 Trust Issues

" What the f*ck is this!" Thomas cussed inwardly as he stared at the scene before him.
He was back in his body and standing right infront of him was the Healer alongside Madame Rita and his own parents ( Edgar's real parents).
There was one thing in common with their facial expressions ; concern.
" Thank the gods he's back" Miss Royston ,Edgar's mom cried out as he hugged her "son".
She was a beautiful, well dressed woman in her mid forties.
" Great... Miss Royston but I want to have a word with him...in private...if you don't mind ". Healer Keelson asked .
" Carry on Keelson " Mr. Royston replied with a nod as he held his wife and walked out.
" I've been caught. I have to come clean...I have to" Thomas was panicking internally.
Healer Keelson took off his gloves and zipped his tool box. He adjusted his lenses and sat on the bed.
" Edgar,I don't know how but you have harnessed an ...ability " He said with struggle.
 " I don't understand" Thomas replied "dumbfounded".
He had already guessed something like that.
"What kind of Ability are we talking about? " He questioned.
" The particular ability, I don't know but your core was red in colour and that means your ability has to be fire related " Healer Keelson answered.
" You're joking right? " Thomas laughed off.
" No Edgar,I'm not. Infact I find it hard to believe it myself. It's very rare for something like this to happen "
" Ability cores are picked up from a young age. If by age twelve (12) you don't have a core, then it's unlikely you'll ever get one"
" You are seventeen (17) now dear. It's almost impossible for you to grow a core. Almost impossible " Healer Keelson said.
" What do you mean by " almost" "? Thomas asked.
" Well Edgar, it has happened in the past before but I can assure you that in the history if Neburia this has not happened for more than a thousand(1,000) times. "
" What about those people. Those that grew a core whiles matured already, what happened to them?" Thomas asked.
" The Leaders got their hands on them and the history books don't go any further than that. They might have been expiremented upon, you know to try and find a way to help non-ability people grow their cores... " Healer Keelson replied.
" I get it. So you want me to keep schtum about this " Thomas said.
 Healer Keelson noded .
" Also,I suppose you don't want to tell my parents about it ,that's why you asked them out"
Healer Keelson nodded again in confirmation.
" You are a smart lad Edgar, You don't want to burden your old pals. They've anticipated a bright career of 'non blood shed' for you. They'll be gutted if they learn that you'll be ...stepping into the world of abilities...a world of constant fights and scuffles. It's for your own good as well as them"
 Thomas made a disapproving grunt.
" So I have an ability but I shouldn't be using it?" He asked slightly annoyed.
" Openely,Dear Edgar " Healer Keelson corrected him.
" I have to attend to my Master ,He's at the Capitol. Oh and by the way, I have an artifact back at the Royal Capitol, I'll get it for you. It's a glove that enables the user to conjure small balls of fire from their palms. I'll come along with it"
" And what will be the way forward?" Thomas questioned.
" The only people that know about your ' lack' of abilities are those in the school. This is just a small place, there's a big world out there. Once you get out of this school no one will bat an eye on you when using your ability "
" You just have to stay low before I come back" Healer Keelson continued.
" How can I be sure that you won't be bringing the Royal guards at my doorsteps?" Thomas asked.
He couldn't trust anyone and what would Healer Keelson get from helping him?
His words seemed too good to be true.
" You can take my life right here, right now if you don't trust me Edgar " .
Healer Keelson replied lifting his arms up in a surrendering manner.
" I'm going to trust you ...for now. But...if you try anything funny, I'll haunt and kill you " Thomas said coldly.
Healer Keelson let out a small laugh at the expense of Edgar's threats and walked out of the room.
Edgar stared blankly at the departing figure.
Something in him wanted to get up and pin the Healer down.
His experience in his past life had erased every single ounce of trust in him.
He was killed by a fellow member of the Organization he worked for.
An Organization he trusted and had devoted his whole life too.
He clenched his fists, closed his eyes to stop the old memories from flooding his mind.
