The Battle of Ashe
Ashe stood in the center of the arena, facing Mina, who appeared calm and composed, but confidence radiated from her every move. Ashe knew that this battle would not be easy. She needed not only speed and strength but also strategy to defeat a Jiu-Jitsu expert like Mina. Grapplers strike quickly, and it only takes a moment for them to pull you down and finish the fight on the ground.
"Ready... Fight!" shouted the referee.
Without hesitation, Ashe attacked. A swift front kick shot out from her, "Whack!" Mina deftly dodged, clearly avoiding Ashe's straight kick. Ashe recognized that this wasn’t the right moment to go all out, so she prepared for the next moves.
"You’ll be the one to attack first," Ashe whispered to herself. She intelligently waited, not allowing Mina to dictate the pace.
As Ashe played with the distance, Mina suddenly attacked. In a rapid movement, she dove low and attempted to take Ashe down with a leg takedown. Ashe quickly stepped back, barely avoiding Mina’s grasp on her leg.
“Hmph! You thought you could get me that easily?” Ashe said to herself, bracing for more maneuvers.
Mina wasn’t done. When she realized her first attempt had failed, she stood up and tried to grab Ashe again. However, Ashe didn’t waver. With her speed and footwork, she pivoted and delivered a powerful side kick. "Wham!" Mina took a hit to her side, and I saw her slightly stagger.
I smiled from the sidelines. I knew this was Ashe’s way of using her distance to avoid her opponent’s grappling. But I also knew the fight wasn’t over yet.
Mina quickly recovered, as if nothing had happened. She attempted a more aggressive takedown, and this time, she nearly caught Ashe’s foot. Ashe slid back, just escaping Mina’s grasp.
“She’s too quick with her grappling,” Bryan said beside me. “If she corners Ashe, it’s over.”
Bryan was right; I knew Mina was just waiting for the right moment. One wrong move from Ashe, and the match would definitely end up on the ground.
I could see the serious look on Ashe’s face. She wouldn’t let it end that way. She continued her assault with her kicks, launching a roundhouse kick next.
"Whack!" Mina again retreated, but I knew she was just trying to gauge Ashe’s movements.
On the next exchange, Mina changed her tactic. She cautiously approached, taking her time. She was like a tiger waiting for the right moment to pounce. Ashe remained vigilant, not rushing in but avoiding getting too close to Mina.
“Mina knows she can’t outpace Ashe,” I thought to myself. “She needs to slow Ashe down.”
Mina quickly attacked when Ashe’s guard lowered on her right side. Mina saw this opportunity and charged forward, pretending to go for a kick, but instead made a quick switch. She grabbed Ashe’s leg and managed to push her down. Ashe fell to the ground, but before Mina could make her next move, Ashe rolled away quickly.
“Good move,” I said. I knew Ashe wouldn’t give up that easily. She quickly returned to her stance and stood up, even though her clothes were slightly dusty.
But I noticed that Mina was still on the hunt. She showed no signs of fatigue, and there was no hint of anxiety on her face. I knew she was used to prolonged fights, relying on strategy. A dangerous opponent. The tension in the arena continued to build. I could hear the cheers from the audience, waiting for the next attack. Ashe repositioned herself, rethinking her strategy. She wasn’t just charging in, but she also wasn’t slacking off.
In an instant, Mina made her move first. She sprinted quickly, seemingly preparing for a kick. But instead, she leaped toward Ashe, attempting an armbar. Mina was quick, but Ashe was quicker. She dodged to the right, and just as Mina was about to land on the ground, Ashe unleashed a powerful roundhouse kick in the air. "Wham!" It connected with Mina’s shoulder, and she fell to the ground.
I could see Mina's reaction. She got up, but the pain was evident on her face. Ashe, meanwhile, wore a slight smile, knowing she had seized a great opportunity. But we all knew the fight wasn’t over yet. Mina approached again, but now it was clear she was being more cautious, feeling the impact of Ashe's hit.
When Ashe saw her chance, she attacked more fiercely. She unleashed a series of kicks that Mina struggled to block. A strong spinning kick struck Mina's side, "Thud!" and her opponent finally collapsed.
Mina didn’t rise again. The fight was over. The referee raised Ashe’s hand, signaling her victory.
After the match, I approached Ashe and tapped her on the shoulder. “Great job. You didn’t give in.”
Ashe smiled, but the exhaustion was clear on her face. “She was tough,” she said. “She thinks quickly and is strong in grappling. I really had to be careful.”
“But you won,” I said. “And that’s what matters.”Download Novelah App
