Bryan and the Fight of His Life
After my match with Daisuke, it was Bryan's turn to face an opponent from Sangre High. We all knew that Bryan was great at boxing, but his opponent today was Kenta, a Muay Thai fighter. Kenta's style involved elbows, knees, and kicks that struck like a storm when he attacked. This kind of opponent was no joke, and even though I knew Bryan was tough, I still felt a twinge of anxiety for him.
“You’ve got this, Bryan,” Ashe said as Bryan prepared for his match.
Bryan simply nodded, quiet but with determination in his eyes. I knew Bryan well when it came to fighting; he wasn’t easily shaken. But we all understood that he needed to be careful in this match because it would be tough for him.
“Ready... Fight!” shouted the referee.
From the very first move, Kenta demonstrated aggression. His movements were lightning-fast, and he immediately unleashed a powerful kick aimed at Bryan’s body. “Thud!” It struck Bryan’s arm, who quickly blocked the attack. He didn’t let the weight of Kenta’s kick faze him and remained steady.
“Just focus, Bryan, you can do it,” I whispered to myself as I watched from the sidelines of their match.
Bryan responded with a quick jab. “Whap!” Kenta swiftly retreated, clearly aware of the strength behind Bryan’s punch. Even though Kenta was an expert in Muay Thai, he knew he couldn’t approach a boxer like Bryan carelessly because of the power behind his punches.
But Kenta wasn’t going to back down. He attacked again, using his footwork to frustrate Bryan’s timing. He released a rapid kick, and before Bryan could react, it struck him in the side. “Whap!” I could feel the pain from Bryan’s expression, but he didn’t show it.
Kenta followed up with a powerful elbow strike. However, before it could connect, Bryan dodged. Using his boxing footwork, he circled around Kenta, and in an instant, he delivered an overhand right. “Bam!” It hit Kenta square in the face. I could see that it staggered him, and I watched as his knees wobbled after the impact.
“Don’t let up!” Ashe yelled from the side, clearly anxious for the fight.
I saw Bryan seize the opportunity. He quickly followed up his punch with a series of hooks. “Bham! Bham! Bham!” Each punch landed on Kenta's body and face, but at the last moment, Kenta managed to retaliate with a heavy kick that struck Bryan’s leg. “Thud!” Bryan halted for a moment, visibly feeling the impact of the kick.
But Bryan wouldn’t give in. He gritted through the pain, and instead of backing away, he chose to close in on Kenta. I knew what he was doing; he wanted to take away Kenta's space so that he couldn’t kick anymore. Up close, Bryan’s strength and speed in boxing would give him the advantage.
As they exchanged punches again, Bryan unleashed an uppercut. “Wham!” It landed squarely on Kenta’s jaw, and I could see Kenta slightly stunned, seemingly losing his strength. This was Bryan's moment.
In one quick motion, Bryan retracted his left hand and followed with a powerful right hook. “Bam!” It struck directly on Kenta’s face, and before Kenta could react, Bryan unleashed another straight punch. “Bham!” This one hit Kenta square in the face, knocking him down.
Kenta stopped moving. I could see on his face that he was out cold from Bryan’s final punch. The referee quickly called the end of the match, raising Bryan’s hand as a sign of victory.
“I didn’t think he’d be that strong,” Bryan said, smiling but clearly exhausted. “But we still won.”
“You were amazing, Bryan,” I said, patting him on the shoulder. “I saw how you studied his movements. That’s exactly how you should fight.”
Bryan smiled, but I noticed him grimacing from the pain in his leg from the kicks he had taken. We all knew this wouldn’t be easy, especially since we would face even tougher opponents; this was just the beginning.
As we exited the arena together, I felt the weight of every match that day. I thought about how this was just one of many challenges we would face. But I also knew that each fight was strengthening us through experience. We were preparing for the upcoming challenges, and I knew that our story was far from over. Much more intense events were yet to unfold.
