Chapter 13 ENCOUNTER
Zero's POV
I arrived at my accommodation after a pleasant walk with Miyuki from Taesan High. I quickly entered to rest and finish my remaining tasks before sleeping.
I also planned to wake up early the next day to catch some sunlight and run five hundred meters each morning to break a sweat.
The Next Day, In the Morning
I woke up and got out of bed, peeking through my small window. The sky was bright, but the sun had not yet risen. I did the stretching exercises I learned from Miyuki yesterday to ensure good blood flow in my body.
After a while, I stepped out of my apartment to go for a morning jog. I intended to circle the nearby corners close to where I was staying.
After half an hour of running, I sat down briefly in an empty lot to rest. A few minutes later, I stood up to continue my run for another half hour. Finally, as I finished my morning exercise, the sun rose, and people were starting to leave their homes, buying their breakfast.
While jogging, I noticed a woman being surrounded by four guys in a secluded alley. I quickly hid to see what was happening. In the woman’s eyes, I saw fear, as if she might cry at any moment.
Without hesitation, I decided to help her. I ran fast to gain momentum. As I got closer, I jumped and kicked my left foot into the air.
My kick hit a guy on the left, causing him to tumble. His three companions were shocked by what happened.
“Hey! Why did you do that to our buddy?!” the guy on the left shouted, glaring at me.
“Are you mad? You want us to take you down here?!” yelled the two on the right.
I smiled internally. It had been a long time since I got into a fight, and this was the perfect moment for it.
I glanced back at the girl to make sure she was okay. “I’ll handle this. Just stay behind me,” I said.
She nodded, staring. I faced the three guys with my eyebrows raised. “Are you going to take me down? Go ahead,” I smiled at them.
The guy to my left rushed in. He threw a punch, aiming for my face, but I dodged to the left.
I kicked his right knee, causing him to kneel, then kneed him in the face and kicked him to the ground so he wouldn’t get up again.
But the other two charged at me. I stepped back slightly to prepare for a counter, raising both my fists to my face.
I sidestepped to the left, and the guy closest to me attacked first. I took the chance to deliver a strong left hook to his chest, then kicked him in the left side.
I noticed another guy behind him coming in. He threw a punch, but I dodged, and his punch grazed my right cheek. I was a bit too slow.
I countered, spinning left and kicking with my left foot. My kick landed solidly on his face. I followed up with a strong punch to the same side of his face, knocking him down, unconscious.
I spotted the remaining guy on the right, holding his side. I rushed at him quickly, taking advantage of his low defense.
I kicked him hard in the stomach to knock him off balance, grabbed the collar of his shirt, and slammed him to the ground.
Looking around, I saw the other guys sprawled out on the floor. I realized they were weak compared to the strong fighters at Taesan High.
I scanned my surroundings and caught the girl staring at me. I approached her slowly and asked, “Are you okay, miss?” while maintaining eye contact.
She replied, “Ah, yes, I’m fine.” A smile appeared on her rosy lips.
I nodded and turned to leave, resuming my interrupted jog.
But I heard her speak again. “Wait! Thank you so much for saving me. If it’s alright, can I treat you to breakfast?” I turned back, raising an eyebrow.
“Huh? What did you—” I couldn’t finish my sentence as my stomach grumbled, reminding me I was hungry.
I felt embarrassed and averted my gaze, slowly bending down to hold my stomach. But I heard her laugh.
“HA HA HA! I heard your stomach growl because of what happened. Let me treat you to a delicious breakfast,” she said, pulling my left hand with her right and leading me somewhere.
She dragged me along as she walked ahead. I couldn’t believe it; it was the first time I held a girl’s hand in my life.
I couldn’t help but ask, “Where are you taking me, Miss?” while staring at her hand holding mine.
“I’m taking you to my coffee shop,” she replied, looking at me with a big smile on her lips.
I decided to go with her since I was starving, and my body moved along with her.
It didn’t take long before we arrived in front of her shop, with a large sign overhead reading “Natalie’s Coffee.”
