Chapter 20 The Realization
The birds are joyfully singing, the wind are dancing along with the falling leaves, while the world seems so bright, Amaryllis slowly opened up her monolid eyes.
She viewed Caner sleeping peacefully at the right corner of her bed.
The awakened blue elf was shocked to see that her right arms are completely fine.
“I thought I was dead… That time… I saw Adbeel… and kissed him…”
Amaryllis said to herself while trying to remember everything.
She eventually touched her lips and widened her eyes.
Her face flushed as she realized that she kissed Caner in the thought that he was Adbeel.
“No! I messed up! I’m stupid!”
Amaryllis blurted to herself while slapping her chin.
Due to her voice, Caner heard it, and he gradually woke up to see her.
“Amaryllis!”
Caner smiled and hugged her tight.
“I’m so glad that you’re finally awake!”
He added.
From afar, Tota heard Amaryllis' voice and she run as fast as she can towards her.
She quickly open the door and grabbed her waist till her face reached her shoulders.
“Amy… I’m so glad…”
She touched her face and smiled while her eyes are watery.
Even they all know that the Demon King might attack the again, they decided to let themselves free from the burden and prepared a simple feast for Amaryllis awakening.
The elves and witches all over the Kingdom decorated the place and filled the tables with some delicious dishes and coloful fruits.
Amaryllis thanked her companions for everything.
They raised their cups and toast for a new hope to grab.
After the feast, Tota helped Kealla cleaned up the area while Amaryllis followed Caner on his room.
She called him through a hiss.
Caner eyes widened as he spotted Amaryllis glancing at him behind the door.
“You scared me…”
He said to her while wiping his sweat away from his forehead.
“I’d like to thank you properly, Caner.”
“No Amaryllis… It was Tota who did everything to save your broken arms…”
“I thanked her too. But, I’d like to thank you for helping her.”
Caner smiled and hold her hands.
“Amaryllis, there’s no need for that.”
While staring at each other’s eyes, Amaryllis remembered the times when she accidentally kissed Caner before she lost her consciousness back then.
“Uhm… Caner… about the… k-kiss…”
Caner’s brain almost exploded.
He doesn’t know what to say, he’s trembling and nervous, he touched Amaryllis’ shoulders and she could feel the weight of his arms.
“Amaryllis… the truth is…”
They both lowered their heads and asked for each other’s forgiveness.
“I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to kissed you!”
They spoke to each other at the same time.
“No! I’m really sorry! I hope that I didn’t offend you, Caner.”
Amaryllis said to him as she bowed her head in front of him at the second time.
Caner doesn’t know what to say to her.
He thought that it was the right time to finally admit his feelings for her, but Caner realized something.
“I’m so scared to be rejected by her. Why am I feeling this way? It feels like something was stopping me…”
Caner said to himself while looking downward.
Due to their conversation, they didn’t notice that the sky were getting darker.
The brilliant sun has been replaced by the bright yellowish moon, they could spot thousands stars above.
It serves as their light and guide during the night.
Caner was happy seeing Amaryllis peacefully watching the stars shine.
He was not attracted by the stars, he was distracted by Amaryllis' grace.
“She looks so unreal…”
He whispered.
Amaryllis noticed that Caner was staring at her the whole time, she was curious but she didn’t asked him anymore.
She gradually saw a shooting star and order Caner to wish something.
“Caner! Look!”
Amaryllis pointed.
“Wish something!”
“I don’t usually believe in those stuffs.”
He said to her as his brows goes down.
“Huh? Why?”
“I think, I’m just too old already to wish something on a shooting star.”
Caner faked a smile.
Amaryllis felt that he was sad, she tapped his shoulders and hold his chin up.
“Hey… what are you doing?”
Caner asked.
“When Adbeel was sad… I used to lift up his chin like this.”
Amaryllis giggled.
After hearing her words, Caner’s heartbeat quickened, he touched her hands and removed it from its grip.
“But I’m not Adbeel, Amaryllis.”
Her eyes widened, she realized that she accidentally hurt his feelings.
“Caner, I didn’t mean to…”
“No, it’s okay.”
He faked his smile again in front of her.
“I’m used to this.”
Caner hold his tears as he quickly stepped out his feet away from Amaryllis.
He run outside and cried as he distanced himself.
Caner goes to the bushes in the thought that he would find ease there.
But, he doesn’t have any idea that he was already missing in the middle of the forest.
Caner sheds all of his pain and tears in the midst of the absence.
“Why am I always being unloved?! I’m so tired! I don’t have any worth to anyone!”
He blurted.
“She only sees me because I carried the face of the man that she loved! I hate this! I hate this face!”
Caner added as he screamed at the top of his lungs, his face were filled with tears and he felt that something was calling him from afar.
It was Amaryllis, she keeps calling Caner, she was so worried at him, even though she knew how risky it is to find him in the middle of the dark forest, she face the wild and tried her best to bring him back again.
Caner felt that his body was slowly weakening for some unknown reasons, he heard heavy footsteps approaching the grass towards where he was lying like a dead leaf who fell from a dead tree.
“Is it her? Is it Amaryllis? Is she going to save me?”
He whispered as he slowly lost his strength.
Caner gradually felt that his body were mysteriously floating in the air.
“Amaryllis…”
He gently breathe in as he slowly open his eyes.
He didn’t know, there was a impenetrable woman who took him.
While he’s still unconscious, she put Caner on the back of her horse.
“Are you awake now?”
“W-Who are you?”
She introduced herself to Caner.
Her name was Natasha, half black witch and half red elf.
She live all alone inside the lonely forest of Freiah, where she doesn’t have anyone to lean on.
Natasha took Caner inside her small home.
There’s a one candle that lit up the whole place on the table, a one bedroom that’s good for one person and a piece of cloth on the left side of the room.
She laid Caner down on her hard bed.
“I’m sorry if it’s uncomfortable. I only have this bed… wait here… I’ll make some soup for you.”
Natasha smiled at Caner.
But, Caner touched her hands and begged her to stay for a while.
“Don’t leave me…”
He pleaded as his tears slided from his narrow eyes.
Natasha noticed how lonely he is, she realized that she sees herself in him.
On the other side, Amaryllis was so worried for Caner, she approached her friends to help her find him in the forest.
It was already morning and the sun rose up again, but, they didn’t see even his footsteps.
They didn’t know where to find Caner.
“Caner! Where are you?!”
They all screamed at the top of their lungs.
But, Caner was not around, no one’s responsing to their calls until Kealla remembered something.
“Wait, guys… I remember that there was a house in this forest back then. Maybe, we could ask her.”
Amaryllis followed her where she pointed the place.
They felt their whole muscles working, their legs run forward, fresh air entered their lungs and the sweat condensed on their thin skin.
Until they spotted a beautiful girl washing clothes on the green river.
Her hair was pink, her eyes were green and she have pointy spock’s ear.
It was Natasha, she was washing Caner clothes.
On the left corner of the house, thhey they saw Caner opened the door for her.
Amaryllis noticed how happy he is, she gradually realized that his smiles are real.
That unexpected tragedy last night, gave Caner hope to be inlove again and forget the pain that Amaryllis caused him.
Caner was happy to see Kealla and Santan from afar, but when he viewed Amaryllis, he’s smile eventually fades like a bubble.
But, Caner realized something, he needs focused himself on the positive side, just like what Kealla told him.
“Guys!”
Caner greeted his friends and waved at them as if nothing had happened.
Amaryllis' feet flew over the stones and leaves, he grabbed Caner’s arms and directly hugged him tight.
She was so worried, she can’t stop herslef from crying.
Caner’s eyes shone as he felt her heart pumping on his chest.
“I’m so worried about you, Caner. Please… don’t do this again…”
She gently whimpred while her tears are slowly sliding.
He doesn’t know what to say to her, he grabbed her waist and smelled her silky hair in front of his face.
The overwhelming scent of her makes feel comfortable.
“It feels good when she’s hugging me like this. But I think, I’ll need to stop myself loving you now, Amaryllis.”
