Chapter 75 Wait for It
*Alexander*
“Daddy?” A little, charming voice suddenly called out, jerking the both of us back to reality. My gaze fell on a kid in her arms, and it was then I realized she was carrying a child. She was holding him close to her chest as if he was the most precious thing that matters most to her. My brows furrowed, recalling what he'd just called me now, I looked over at Kiara, but she seemed to be avoiding my gaze. “Why did he just call me, daddy?” I asked her seriously, but she only stayed silent, looking everywhere but my face. “Will you carry me now, daddy?” The kid looks so happy as he stretched his little arms out, hinting at me to carry him. I chuckled softly, he looked so spectacular. I reached out my hands and then carried him. Wrapping his small hands around my neck, he put forward his head and pecked my cheek, taking me aback. “I've been waiting for you for so long, daddy. Why didn't you come and get us sooner?” My eyes dilated in shock at his outburst. Sizing him bit by bit from up to bottom in my grasp, I opened my mouth but couldn't utter any sound. I took my gaze to her and asked gently, “How old is he?” she twisted her lips for a second before producing a response, “He will turn two in a few months” I looked back at the most cute and smart boy I've ever met then put on a wide grin, “I apologize, darling. But your mom wouldn't allow me to take you away” Instantly, a deep frown etched on his small face as he tilted his head toward Kiara. “Mommy, is it true you wouldn't let me go with daddy?” his voice was stern, but I could only chuckle at how incredible he was. Wanting to go with someone he just met for the first time and abandoned the person he'd always known right from birth. “No, Aiden. You can't just go…” she broke off, sealing her lips in a tight line. “Let's go. I'll drop you”
“Daddy, will you leave us again?” he pouted his lips cutely, clinging onto me and wouldn't even let me breathe. I smiled adorably at him, removing the strand of hair that was dangling around his forehead and studying his good-looking face, his prominent cheekbones, big round eyes, little red lips, and everything. Without anyone telling me, he's my replica. He looks after me with almost all his outstanding features. I purposely let my gaze travel to her figure beside me, she was looking out the window, paying no heed to us. “Is he truly my son?” I suddenly let out. Directly, she tilted her head in my direction and sucked in a sharp breath. “Yes, Alexander. Aiden is your son” she acknowledged in an extremely low but sharp voice. Nodding my head slowly, I looked over at his face again, he was already toying with the jade in my hand. “Alexander…” “No, no, you don't need to explain how it all happened. It doesn't matter now, does it?” there was a slight chuckle in my voice. “Since you're already engaged to another person, and it's apparent enough that you're really enjoying your new life. I shouldn't take that away from you, but don't you think my son should be with me now that you're with someone else?” I sounded grim, peering into her eyes that had gradually filled with tears. “My son has always been with me, I can't allow anyone to take him away from me now” I stared at her with a composed look, watching how the tears spilled out from her eyes bit by bit. “But he's also my son, or do you plan to make someone else his father?” I made a deep sneer embedded in the corner of my lips, but his face has become flushed because of anger. “I don't quite understand you, Alexander, isn't it pretty obvious that Aiden is your son?” her temper skyrocketed, “But what if I hadn't met you today, did you ever intend to inform me that I have a son?” heeding to my words, her eyes slowly changed from anger to calm. “Alexander…” she called calmly; however, I interrupted her firmly before she could even speak her mind, “There's no need to explain anything as I said earlier. You're owned by someone else now, so please, don't even bother clarifying yourself” I continued, indicating that I was going to keep saying it until she blurts out the real trends between her and Henry Torres.
Moments later, the car rolled to a stop in front of a very magnificent mansion. The driver quickly got off the car and came to open the door for her. The rest of the journey was eerily quiet as none of us exchanged any words further. I looked down at my prince charming in my hands. He was already fast asleep. Grinning, isn't it funny, realizing that you have a son unexpectedly? However, not just a son, but a cute and exceptional one at that. “Thank you for the ride,” she said gently, reaching out to carry him from my grip. I pressed my lips to his forehead for a long moment then she carried him afterward, in the process, her skin made a contact with mine, and it felt like there was an electric current that flow into my blood toward my cheeks which caused them to boil up. Her gaze locked with mine as we both stared at each other wordlessly, as if in a stalemate. “Goodnight,” she said dully, then slowly left the car. I also got down, paced forward across the car, watching her back view with her driver walking beside her, “Have a good night's rest, Mrs. Torres” I pronounced. Her slow pace came to a sudden halt just before reaching the gigantic gate, she properly turned around to look at me, but there was no emotion on her face. With a bright smile on my face, I waved at her and then finally got behind the wheels.
From the windshield, I watched how Amelia got down from a car in front of the house. Having a bright and sweet smile on her face, she waved her hand at the car and then began to walk toward the house. Honk! Honk! She ceased her pace at once, turning her head in my direction. I stepped on the brakes as soon as I got close to her, winded down the glass, and looked up at her face, “Come on in, lover girl” her lips curled up in a half-smile as she spun around and sat in the passenger seat. After I parked carefully in the garage, she and I got down and began to walk slowly beside each other. “So, how was your day, sir?” Amelia broke the awkward silence and a wide grin arose on my lips directly. “It was one of the best days of my life thus far” I conceded, thinking back to the delicate time we spent together. It felt like a complete family, me, Kiara, and our son. “Guess what, Amelia?” she lifted her head to look over at my face, grinning, “You saw Kiara today, didn't you?” I rolled my eyes playfully, “How could you guess accurately? I wanted to put you in some suspense, you know?” I smacked my lips, nudging her arm jokingly. She only laughed out loud, dodging her arm away from my hit. “So tell me something, sir. How did it go?” she asked keenly, “Where did you meet her?” A storm of emotion began to rage in my heart, remembering that intense moment between us in the car. “At the roadside. She had a flat tire but thank goodness I was there in time” Curling my lips, “I met him too, my…” I trailed off, “Your son!” she yelled happily. I just chuckled, wrapping my arm around her shoulder. “I'm so happy for you, Mr. Alexander” I nodded slowly, “I'm happy for myself too. But how is it going to be now?” I asked patiently, putting away my smile. “What's that, sir?” I looked at her face and answered, “Our fake marriage. How are we going to end it without putting Granny into trouble, one way or another? Now that you've told Kiara about the whole fake marriage thing, do you think she might still want to be with me?” I blurted out all that was harboring my heart in a breath, then took in a sharp whiff. Abruptly, she stopped walking and so did I. “I think our fake marriage shouldn't be the paramount thing, for now, sir. Think of how you're going to bring back Kiara and your son” she said cautiously and cogently. I stared at her face for a moment and then nodded my head, “And we should start planning your marriage afterward” I put my hand back on her shoulder as we both continued our walk. “What marriage?” she asked in an extremely low voice and all it took was just a glance at her face, it was already morphing into a shade of red. “Whoa, Amelia. You need to see how blushed your face had become, as if on fire” I poked fun at her, pulling her cheek, but she only threw my hands off and then covered her cheeks with her hands. “I must say Desmond is a lucky man to have you as his partner” I conceded, sounding serious this time. “But we're not married yet, sir” she reminded, even her neck was blushed this time, looking like a cooked shrimp. “Yeah, you can't just wait to get married to him” I teased again, laughing and running along.
The following morning…
The table was set, breakfast was ready and Amelia and I were already sitting at the table, only waiting patiently for Granny before we could dine on the sumptuous meal in front of us. “Don't you think I should go check on her?” Amelia put forward her head and suggested, looking anxious already. Without waiting for my response, she got on her feet, scampered her seat backward, and left the table. Just before reaching the entrance, Granny stepped into the dining room, looking quite dim and empty. “Good morning, Granny,” Amelia greeted warmly, pecking her both cheeks, but she wouldn't react, let alone respond to her greetings. “I was just on my way to come to fetch you” Amelia explained, walking forward and helping Granny drag her seat backward. Step by step, Granny walked over, and sat down, without spelling any word to either Amelia or me. Amelia returned to her seat as we both exchanged a 'what's wrong with her?' look. “Granny, are you okay?” I decided to speak up, unable to withstand her unusual cold attitude. Again, she didn't answer me. “Did anyone offend you or something?” I continued, but she was bent on saying a word which only got me worried. Taking note of what to do, I stood up, and it was as if she sensed what I was up to, “Don't even try to come any closer, Alexander” her voice was rigid, and her face was lacking any warmth. I exchanged a glance with Amelia, and she gestured at me to sit down, “Granny, did Alexander hurt your feelings?” Amelia asked cautiously. “You both are hurting my feelings, Amelia” she let out firmly. “Tell me, until when did you guys plan to have a baby?” hearing this, I was immediately washed with relief. “Every day, I keep stealing a glance at your belly, Amelia, expecting it to be bulging already, but no. It occurred to me that you wouldn't provide me a grandchild before I pass away” she cried out, her eyes becoming moist with tears. Abruptly, I rose to my feet, turned around the table, and sat down beside her, holding her hand on the table. “I have good news for you, Granny” Swiftly, she tilted her head to face me, sniffing slightly and wiping off the tears on her cheeks. “Tell me, what's it? Is Amelia pregnant already?” I smiled, stooping and pressing my lips against her forehead for a little while. “You'll have to wait for it, Granny”Download Novelah App
