Chapter 19 - Sick and hungry
Veera's POV
The roof of the car was the first thing I noticed as I opened my eyes. As I remembered what had happened, Mr.Bo suddenly acted suspiciously and told us to go inside the car first since he needed to take care of things.
"Where are the kids?" I said loudly, raising my body in surprise as I searched for the children.
I peered outside the car and saw Mr.Bo and the kids conversing, but something about Mr.Bo seems off, and I can't figure out what it is. So I got out of the car to find out what was going on and why they were still outside.
"AB, AC and Mr. Bo-" I didn't complete what I was saying because as I got closer to them, the air surrounding me became more oppressive, making it difficult to breathe properly.
What is going on? Why am I suddenly unable to breathe properly? I can't even move near Mr.Bo and the kids since the air is so heavy. Even if this is the case, I continue to walk gently and approach them.
"A-AB and A-AC, what's going on?" I said, despite the fact that it was difficult to talk due to the intensity of the air.
I observed both kids' bodies tremble as they heard my query, but they didn't respond or turn to face me, instead remaining still in front of me. So I decided to look up at Mr.Bo and ask him what was going on instead.
"Veera," I heard the children say quietly and without emotion.
Why did they call out my name? When they mention my name, the air gradually returns to normal, and I can breathe normally again.
What just happened?
"Oh, Veera, why are you sitting on the dirty ground!" Mr.Bo scolded me as he turned his head towards where I was seated.
Huh? When did I decide to sit on the floor? "That's not the point here; what happened? The air surrounding you was so heavy!"
Mr.Bo turned his head towards me, puzzled. "What do you mean Veera? the air was completely normal," he responded.
But what was that powerful pressure I had sensed back there?! Anyway, I'll ask the kids. I take AB and AC's Bodies and turn them towards me.
"Tell Boon about that tremendous atmosphere around here, did you both feel it?" I questioned, looking at their expressions.
"Miss Veera, we don't feel so good," the children say tiredly as they stare at me with a pained expression on their faces.
I quickly saw how red and sweaty their faces were in front of me and placed my palm on their foreheads. I can feel how feverish both of the kids are.
"My gosh, both of you had fevers! Why didn't you tell me you weren't feeling well?" I admonished them.
"Sorry, we simply want to help and go out with you," both children said quietly.
"I warned you we shouldn't allow them to come with us now that they're a nuisance," Mr.Bo grumbled.
I turned to face him as I carried AC on my back. "You just stop fussing and carry AB! We need to go home fast so they can relax!" I said to him,
He only glanced at AB with an irritated expression and was compelled to take him to the car. When we arrived at our automobile, I quickly climbed into the backseat, and Mr.Bo let AB join me. After ensuring that all three of us were safely seated in the backseat, he immediately shut the door and climbed into the driver's seat.
"Veera, did you fasten your seatbelt?" Mr.Bo questioned.
"Yes, it's already done; can we go now?" I pleaded, looking at the ill kids beside me with concern.
"Will you look after me if I get sick like that?" Mr.Bo murmured.
"Did you say something, Boon?" I spoke after hearing him murmur something in front of me.
"Nothing, Veera, you're speaking strangely today," Mr.Bo observed.
I understand what he meant when he said I was talking weirdly. However, I was speaking the truth! For the time being, I know what I felt was not a delusion. I'm going to ignore what happened and concentrate on the children who are now ill. I'll ponder about what occurred back there when they're all better.
"Just start driving, would you?" I yelled angrily at Mr.Bo.
" Okay, just cool down! It's not like they'll die because of a fever," Mr. Bo said.
"Don't you dare say that again, Mr. Bo. Just because they have a fever doesn't mean they won't die from it. Children are frail and may become ill suddenly if they are too enthusiastic or exhausted." I reprimanded Mr.Bo for claiming they wouldn't die because it was just a fever.
You are incorrect, Mr.Bo. Many children died as a result of fevers that were not treated quickly and were dismissed as 'they won't die because it was just a fever.'
Mr.Bo then stopped talking and concentrated solely on driving the car, while I worriedly gazed at the miserable kids who were now in pain due to the fever.
I vowed to myself a long time ago that I would never lose someone so valuable again. I will never go through the agony of losing someone in front of me again.
Bo's POV
I was driving the car quietly after getting reprimanded by Veera several times today. I was also busy tolerating the delicious aroma that I am smelling from Veera, who is currently in the backseat with ill brats.
That brats are sick because of me; it was too much for them to be in the company of a powerful vampire like me, and my presence was just too intense for them to experience at their age.
If those brats hadn't said Veera's name, I might have killed Veera and those brats since I was insane from performing both of my arts at the same time. I was on the verge of losing control and harming Veera, which I sincerely regretted.
But gosh, the lovely aroma of Veera's blood is really distracting from my gnawing hunger while I try to behave and forget about it. My body is calling me to suck the luscious blood of a person who is completely oblivious of the monster she is in the company of.
