Chapter 54: Her Death Fera’s POV Her left hand flew to her mouth, she seemed like forgot how to breathe and just looking down. She knew it was Fred’s voice. “Your lying…” she almost whispered. “She was found dead in her car near the hospital,” his voice never sound joking. She knew that he would never pull a prank like that, especially in her situation. “You allow this to happen? Fred, is trusting a wrong decision?” She couldn’t believe it, her tears were shamelessly running down. “Fred, why do things failing on your watch lately?” “Is trusting me a wrong decision? You can never trust a Fuentes, Fair and they never trust anyone either. Why are things failing lately? Maybe because these things aren’t meant to be watched by me.” And the line cut off. She returned the phone to the police and let her tears fall. She didn’t bother wiping it. ‘This is what they want, to see me cry, to see me crawl and helpless.’ ‘This is all my fault if she didn’t visit me. They wouldn’t trap her alone. Fred, he’s hurt too, I shouldn’t blame him.’ Then the memories of last night visited her, she was fighting for her not knowing she had given since her father died. Fred was right, I never really planned on going back to her old life. If she can’t stay in that life with Nick then she rather dies or rots to jail. *** The reason for her death was unclear, all she knew was that she was killed in her car near the hospital she was in that night she visited her. After that visit, she never thought that their next meeting would be like this. Her nanny would lay in a white coffin. The contrary of fine winds and dancing leaves around her heart was in a storm of sorrow and fury. Everyone was looking at her as if they were surprised to see her. They looked at her with disgust, as if her feeling wasn’t valid enough. The scorching heat of the sun didn’t stop her to stand there and shedding all her tears in silence. They left and she was left with a gray stone where her name was engraved. “I’m sorry, you never had a life because of me. Your service will be forever remembered. From my birth to your last breath, you do nothing but serve me.” She wiped all her tears using both hands owing it was handcuffed together. “Thank you.” As she walk back to the vehicle, Felicidad’s family were cursing her to death. Forgetting the fact that all they have came from Fuentes in exchange for her full-time service to Fera. On her way back to the jail, she remembered Fred. He wasn’t there, he never saw him again and didn’t hear anything from him again. ‘What is he doing?’ She asked but realized, she wasn’t his responsibility. She wasn’t his world. He gave his own life too, she shouldn’t depend on him too much. But who would else she could ask for help? She couldn’t find Fred, she fired Lora and Nick betrayed her. ‘That’s not worth shedding a tear.’ She mentally calmed herself. As they reached the jail, the cops spoke no word, they just unlocked her handcuff and let her walk back to her cell. During day time they usually stay at the court, playing basketball for the boys, and the girls were doing something art on handmade bags. It was made with rattan. While Fera chooses to stay in jail. She sat in the corner and made no movements. She heard fast footsteps like it was running in her direction. She closed her eyes and care none. She opened her eyes when she heard the steel bar move. A girl in an army green sweatshirt with trousers entered. Her hair was short and her skin was pale. “Hey,” she didn’t respond. “I just need to hide for a while.” She said and Fera closed her eyes like she didn’t see her. “What’s your name? You look young.” Still, Fera didn’t respond. “You are the only minor, right? You are isolated since DSWD was protecting you. Doesn’t it too strange, that they let you stay here even if you are a minor?” Fera opened her eyes and thought too. She wasn’t supposed to stay there because she was a minor. But she closed her eyes again. She wasn’t supposed to be there minor or not. Law has nothing to do with why she was in there. “Some things aren’t seen cause it suppose not to be seen.” She couldn’t ever see the reason and she should not. “You don’t seem a psychopath to me.” She quickly found another thing to talk about. “And you don’t seem an inmate to me.” “Because I’m not.” She answered and took a pack of cigars from her pocket. She got two and handed the other one to Fera. She didn’t accept it but she put it in her mouth. “I’m Abigail, and you are Fairly, don’t be surprised that I know you. Everyone was talking about the billionaire psycho, I just didn’t know you were here.” She said and lighted up the cigar, her’s and Fera’s. “You said, I’m a psycho why are you here?” “First, I need to hide from my father for a while and second you don’t seem a killer honestly.” “You can’t judge a murdered by their appearance.” “Yeah? I don’t think so. I have seen millions of documentaries about murders, I have seen their common traits, how they talk and how they move. When I saw you, you may be intimidating but not a psycho. You just seem lonely and sorrowful but got misunderstood because of your resting bitch face.” Fera blinked twice looking at the girl who sat next to her and blew the smoke out from her mouth and nose. “I don’t care what you think of me.” And she was about to throw the cigar but she caught her arm. “I don’t care if you listen or not. Anyway, don’t waste that. Try it you’ll feel better.” “I don’t smoke,” “Then start smoking now.” She chuckled and her hand go. “I heard you claimed that you killed your father but you don’t even smoke. Who are you to claim the bad girl?” “Think what you want.” Fera dismissed her but Abigail take no order. She chooses to try the cigar. “I will, you look like a weak spoiled brat filthy rich girl to me. You had the attitude but you can’t kill even a mosquito.” Fera gave her a death glare which made her chuckle. “I like that, you’re evil, huh?” “You don’t know what you are getting into.” “I’m not scared, you look like a crybaby.” Fera suddenly elbowed her but Abigail caught it that fast. Fera pushed her and stood up, it was Abigail’s turn to give a kick which she dodged easily. Fera returned the weak kick but she caught it and pulled closer. She got Fera’s neck and pinned her on the wall but Fera managed to smash her face using her fist. Abigail return the punch and Fera managed to slap it to the side. Then she slapped her but step back to avoid it. “You can fight but not good.” “Tell yourself that,” Fera answered and sat back. Abigail picked up her cigar and sat back next to Fera. “You have correct positions but you didn’t do it well. I can feel your frustration but you are holding back. I almost believe their lies until I saw you, I believe you can kill but not your father.” “Abigail!” “Gotta go.”
