Chapter Forty
In the palace of Antipatris, the throng of people gradually disappeared. They went back to their homes; they didn't want to mention the destruction brought by the demigods of wickedness. In that way, they can easily forget what happened and continue their normal lives. Those Cinos who died were sent back to the land of the living through Elyza's compassion, which is the identity of her tears that showered all over their dead bodies. Incredulity, as they came back to their normal lives, including Thoreau and Hada. When the lovers saw each other again, they couldn't avoid spreading each other's arms like choughs, but instead of flying, they cuddled each other. All those people who saw their wonderful world again are so grateful to their compassionate mother.
"Alleluia! Praise Zadiv! Thank you so much for another chance you have given to us, hurray! mother Elyza! hurray!" They exclaimed.
Happy is Elyza to see the Antipatrisians' smile. The sorrows in their lives were all wiped away from their faces. Their brows were calmed, their eyes became serene, and their mouths blossomed at every instant into a smile that seemed like the smile of angels. Happiness surrounds their existence, and they want it to endure forever.
The lovers, Thoreau and Hada, also thanked Elyza for reinvigorating them. They were going somewhere when the woman stopped them.
"You're all welcome. I hope that you'll have a good relationship, with my son and his girlfriend," Elyza said.
"What?" Thoreau exclaimed. "Ylarry and Lyra are now living in Phrygia? But how did it happen that"
"I've heard that the demigod Al Zhein allowed them to live in Phrygia, so there's no need to be worried about it. So let's just forget the past and live a new beginning, as if we're reinvigorated again." Hada explained.
"You're right, daughter," Elyza added.
Later on, the lovers arrived in the land of Phrygia. They realized that their mother, Elyza was right. They have a new neighbor. A house that was owned by a noble Phrygian is currently owned by Ylarry and Lyra. Seeing this, Hada immediately went to the door of their neighbor's house and knocked on it several times before someone opened it.
"Whoa!" Hada said with amazement. "Mother Elyza was right; you're both here."
"Oh, Hada, are you happy to see us here? Or you don't want us to be your new neighbors?" Lyra asked.
"No-no-no-no-no, we're pleased to have you as our new neighbors and hope to build a good fence with you. By the way, we're so sorry that we didn't help you when—"
"O Hada, if thou only knew what had happened, you'd be surprised, but remembering those things of the past can't change the present and future, so let's just forget them," Lyra suggested.
"I hope to be friends with you again, buddy," Thoreau said as he extended a handshake to the boy, who took it and drew him into his chest, returning them to their normal positions.
"I'm surprised that Ylarry was so strong," Thoreau said.
"Gee, thanks for helping me at those times, buddy. I don't know what could have happened to me if you had not brought me to Laurel's house." Ylarry smirked.
"You mean that Laurel is a friend of yours?" Lyra queried.
"She was my friend, but I don't want to be friends with that scarlet woman again. Sorry bro, I didn't tell you that she wasn't as good as the others," Thoreau said.
"You don't need to say that. I already know everything, because I and Lyra were telling each other everything. There's no secret between us, but those things that happened in the past must be buried in oblivion."
"You're right, my love." Lyra cuddles him. "Um, it's warm outside. We better get inside our new home so that we can have a good talk."
Ylarry and Lyra simultaneously went inside their house, and so did Thoreau and Hada. Ylarry offered them a seat in the living room, and they all sat down, while Lyra noticed that Thoreau hadn't looked at her face since they arrived. It crossed her mind that perhaps he's ashamed of what happened in the past.
"Hey, I noticed that you avoid having eye-to-eye contact with me, although I'm not sore-eyed. Is there something on my face?" Lyra asked.
"No-no, your face is beautiful. Honestly, I'm just ashamed that I've told you many lies and made promises that I didn't fulfill. You know, just like Mang Inasal," Thoreau replied.
"Be sorry not. Persevere in good so that you won't be obliged to be sorry for your deeds at every moment. Persevere and you'll be esteemed and honored; that you'll be happy," Lyra advised.
"Lyra is right, buddy, and you don't need to feel ashamed and sorry. Look! We still have time. So no more promises; let's go to Mang Inasal now!" Ylarry exclaimed.
The three stood up. Ylarry tried to use his power to teleport, but unfortunately, he remembered that there's an exchange for having a peaceful life, and that's to remove his power as a deity of demigods.
"Bud, why did you stop there? Is there something wrong?"
"I'm sorry guys, I won't be using my power from now on, because it was removed by my grandfather. You know, it was written in the book of Ley that someone who fell in love with an Incino must forget everything about being a Cino," Ylarry tried to explain it.
"You've just told us that we don't need to be sorry, so you don't need to be sorry either. I and Hada were trained in using magic tricks. I also know that... for sure, your grandfather didn't remove Lyra's power?"
"No—that's not what I mean. You know, I will just be a burden to everyone here; a futile one," Ylarry apologized.
"Don't say that, my love. You've never become a burden to me, or to us, so don't be so theatrical. You're not a futile, and, I must be the one to blame, because it was my mistake that these things happened," Lyra replied.
"You guys were so sensitive as shame-plants. Don't be so worried because we will help you adopt the change. The past is gone and the new has come. So you can live a life like those normal Phrygians."
"You're correct, Hada, so stop emoting, just chill, and by the way, let's go to Mang Inasal now, because you seem to have forgotten that thing again," Thoreau said.
At the mainland, in front of the huge palace, Al Zhein, Heshnok, Elyza, and Felix are going towards the wide-opened door. There are many battlers aligned on both sides; kowtowing. Al Zhein was carrying a golden crown which glitters when hit by light. Elyza is carrying a beautiful golden scepter, while sashes are on Heshnok and Felix.
Many people on both sides have their eyes turned up to watch the demigods entering the wide door. They were all amazed that, finally, the coronation of their new king had helped.
Going into the palace, Kesrick is standing on the marble shrine, which has been empty since his father died. Recently, he can't believe that his dream is finally happening. He will be crowned as the new king and own every portion of the kingdom. If it happens, he doesn't need to follow any rules, because he will be the one to make it.
He thought, "I must pretend to be good in every instance so that the demigods will be fooled and they won't hesitate to crown me as the highest ruler of this kingdom."
A moment, the demigods reached the shrine. In the throne room, where Kesrick was standing straightly, waiting for his time to take an oath. His father's retinue is also there, holding a long golden paper on which the pledge was written. It wasn't just a simple pledge, because if the king didn't grant his oath, the people would have the right to remove him from the position where he was.
"Kesrick, son of Hezekiah and Chorazin, there's one more question: will you really accept to be the next king of Antipatris?" Gideon asked.
"I no doubt accepting the position," Kesrick replied, though his mind was shouting, "I will just use this position for my own intentions, and it's impossible for me to be a good long."
"If that's the case, swear an oath in the kingdom of Antipatris; (follow my example)." Gideon said. "I, (say your name [Kesrick]), promising to be a just king of Antipatris with all my heart for the people, will rule the kingdom justly and equally."
After saying those words, Kesrick felt relieved, as he thought that promising would be just as easy as that. But he was upset and a bit mad that the oath for the kingdom wasn't done yet, and Gideon continued speaking. He's a bit impatient, but he knows that it's the only way to achieve his dreams and to give good grace to his bourne.
Meanwhile, Felix never felt impatient in standing there, admiring Kesrick's bravery in protecting the land against the demigods of wickedness. Even though he pretended to be an Incinololo, he still had the pain of a Cinos and was not apprehended by the enemies. Felix thought that Kesrick is such a role model for him to follow.
Finally, the oath for Antipatris is taken. Someone (a beautiful woman in formal dress) went towards Kesrick and offered him a glass of water, because the woman knew that Kesrick's voice became hoarse from reciting the oath, which for them is such a waste of time.
Seeing her, Kesrick's eyes widened. "Granny Chichari? What are you doing here?" He mumbled. "Don't tell me that you'll kill these demigods." Kesrick got the glass of water from the woman's hand and drank it.
"King Kesrick, don't call me granny, because I'm not too old for that name; don't go first before me, because I have something more beautiful to do here than killing these despicable demigods," Chichari whispered.
"What's that, Chichari?" Kesrick mumbled.
"See you later, after your coronation."
The woman got the glass of water from Kesrick and pretended to go back to the dining room of the palace. In truth, she was just watching them from the herd of people in the throne room.
At the same time, Kesrick became curious about what Chichari was talking about—the best thing to do is kill the demigods of goodness. He didn't want to think deeply about such a nonsense thing; therefore, he focused his attention on the demigods who were going back to him with the golden crown and a scepter.
Eventually, Master Al Zhein crowned Kesrick as the new king of Antipatris after they decided it. It came out that Kesrick did more good than bad. "Goodness cannot see anything wrong," as the saying goes.
After the coronation, the demigods, including Felix, who was curious about what Kesrick was talking about with a beautiful woman who caught his eyes, said farewell to the mainlanders. They went back to their homes and everything came back to normal.
The people on the mainland also went back to their houses. They believe that there's no more battle that will happen again, especially since they have a good protector, who's the new king of Antipatris, who only cares about his own intentions and not the people's.
At the moment that the number of people in the palace gradually decreased, Kesrick remembered to meet the old woman who had become a younger and more beautiful one because of her delirious ambition. He saw that woman going into the dining room of the palace; therefore, he stood up and asked the maidservants not to follow him.
When he reached the dining room, He was surprised by what he saw. All the cooks in the palace were lying on the floor. He knew that they were not totally dead, but out of consciousness; he also knew that it was caused by the beautiful woman who offered him a glass of water, because he saw that woman sitting on the pew beside the golden table.
Perhaps the woman could do nothing in her life but make trouble as long as she lived, and perhaps she's just annoyed by those cooks who can't mind their own businesses but intrude on her, but the exact reason is that she's impatient about doing nothing in her life.Download Novelah App
