Chapter 43 Stick to the Plan

Gusev chuckled at me, “Hmm, are you seriously going to bribe me?”
Kamilah nodded, “Yep.”
“And you're announcing it proudly…” Gusev gulped, “Fine, your mate might kill me the moment he returns.”
“I’ll find a way with that.” Screw Alpha Magnus and his overprotectiveness. I can handle myself.
“Alright, But let me come too,” He finally gave in and Kamilah smiled.
As we walked along the woods, I personally chose the track where I’m sure it would be secluded. It’s a shortcut and a mage’s territory….so a few wolves won’t even bother going here…not unless you have a death wish. and throughout the whole duration of our journey,  Gusev did nothing but continue poking around.
“So what’s your plan?” He asked me, repeating the question for the millionth time now.
If someone paid me a dollar every time he asked that I’ll be a billionaire in no time. Well, I’m already rich but that’s not that point.
If someone paid me a dollar every time he asked that, I’ll be a billionaire in no time. Well, I’m already rich but that’s not the point.
I sighed, mustering patience and try not to snap at him, “I’m not telling you.”
He pointed at me as if that thing would even have an effect on me.“Come on, the least you could do is spill it. I risked my life and let you go out, remember?”
I stopped walking and completely faced him, having enough of this. “Okay, so here’s the plan.”
He instantly nodded and leaned in, directing his ears on me. “Alright, I’m listening.”
I whispered in his ears, “The plan is not to have a plan. I’ll just check my pack, and before Alpha Magnus notices I left, we’ll return.”
“Sounds like a good idea. At least you have the conscience to return to him. But what if he manages to get back to the cave in no time? And saw you were not there?”
I shrugged, now continuing in walking as I grab some pretty stones. “Then I’ll blame it on you.”
He shrieked, “Come on! So whatever will happen, it would be still my fault! Come on just kill me.”
I gave him a ‘really’ look, “You’re already dead.”
“Right. But still!” He complained and sat on a rock, grabbing a stick and drawing heart shapes on the mud, “I won’t leave here until you say that you won’t blame it on me.”
I rolled my eyes at his childish ways, not even entertained at this point, “Fine, enjoy staying here.”
Then I looked around, “It’s a mage's territory, stop being so fussy,” I warned, completely aware of how dangerous it was.
I continued walking, just letting him have his tantrums like a child as he continued yelling in the middle of the woods.
I’m not here to babysit some lonely vampire. I have to get to my pack as soon as possible.
“Fine, you’re on your own now!” I heard his steps walking away and I didn’t bother to turn around, ignoring his pleas, and just continued on my way knowing he will give in soon and it’s just his tactics.
Just then, silence fell.
My ears perked up, my arms suddenly felt goosebumps. I instantly widened my senses to see if enemies had somehow picked up my scent. I’m sure my scent was hidden…who could dare to be in this secluded area now?

Gusev’s scent was gone now.
I instantly turned around and noticed Gusev wasn’t there, sitting there anymore.
My breath hitched, waiting for any movement and preparing myself. I couldn’t shapeshift now as this mage’s territory is somehow close to humans and I wouldn’t risk getting discovered and harming our clan.
Just then, a branch of a twig snapped and Gusev’s scent reappeared.
I instantly felt his presence beside me as he whispered, “Hey there babe.”
I jumped, feeling that he moved suddenly. I looked at him clearly, seeing that his usual smile smirk is playing on his lips.
Clearing my throat, I hid the goosebumps in my arms,  “Where did you go?”
He was holding something, hiding it from his back. He then gently placed it in my hands, “I left to give you this..”
There were white daisies on my hand now and he looked at me expectantly, waiting for my reaction.
I sniffed the flowers, smelling them nicely.  “Where did you get this?”
He pointed at a nearby tree, “I was about to leave you but I find these lying there.”
I chuckled, ruffling his hair, and sighed, “So you’re not going to complain now?”
He pretended to think about it and shrugged his head, “Fine, I won’t. Let’s go now, your pack must be surely waiting now.”
He tried to lead the way, and I walked slowly, looking at his back and to the place. My inner wolf is sensing something, but I couldn’t depict what this was.
Maybe we are being watched? Glancing at my surroundings, I noticed it was still the same. Gusev hummed a tune as he walked as if nothing happened. Really, give it to him for being so bipolar. His mood changes so fast.
He looked back at me and yelled, “What are you waiting for? Let’s go now!”
I rolled my eyes, “Yes, yes, stop being impatient.”
We crossed a river and a few more woods, not even stopping once. Gusev and I even raced on who will get first. Being my competitive self, I made sure to go full speed while conserving my energy in case something happens.
Amidst the silence of our walk, Gusev gazed at me, “What are you thinking now?”
I kept silent, still thinking about my pack and our safety. How I wish I could talk to them now while being far….I could use my phone, but Alpha Magnus had confiscated it to avoid being tracked.
I kept silent, still thinking about my pack and our safety. How I wish I could talk to them now while being far….I could use my phone, but Alpha Magnus had confiscated it to avoid being tracked.
“Come on, talk to me. I am the master of solving problems.” Gusev said, still pushing the topic. I decided to stay quiet, he sighed exasperatedly, letting me on my own thoughts now.
“You know you need to be careful once we got there, Alpha Magnus had given me a pet to chase you away,” I warned him and he scoffed. “I knew he would do that.”
“Yeah, so you need to be careful there.” I chuckled, then watched as Gusev laughed.
I blinked, hearing the slightly varying tone of his laugh. I had heard his laugh enough that I completely memorized the way it would rise up and down.
I cleared my throat, “You remember, that time last 150 years ago…”
He looked at me curiously, “Yeah? And what happened?”
I blinked, knowing he would fully know what happened that time as Gusev never missed a beat. He was always there at every stage of my life. And he’s a vampire, he would never forget anything.
“Sorry, I just lost track of that since I lived for a thousand years, you know how heartbroken I was recently…”
I nodded, remembering the woman he said to me. Seems understandable. But I have to test him if he somehow remembers it…even a bit.
“And that time at the hotel right? When I escaped Alpha Magnus pack…”
He nodded, “Yes, you were alone.”
With the way he answered, I instantly knew it.
This creature beside me is not Gusev.
I immediately grabbed his neck and hissed, “You played Gusev well, but Gusev knows me so well that he knows I have someone with me that time. Try to guess who it was and I’ll decide your fate.”
“Louisa?” He asked, dragging my beta in this and I laughed at this silly creature.
“Louisa?” He asked, dragging my beta in this and I laughed at this silly creature. He should know I was with Owen at that time! He was even angry about how Owen left me at that moment!
“Stupid, you should have known my past well before playing Gusev.” So that’s why the air changed and he didn’t even remember anything about me, not even flirting and having his playful ways.
The man in front of me raised his hands up in surrender, chuckling at me, “Alright, I surrender. I should have done my research.”
He pushed away my hand from his neck and pulled off his face as if it were a mask and revealed himself.
I gawked at the sight, watching as his evil smirk played on his lips.
“Hello, Kamilah, missed me?”
The elder, Druscilla, greeted me and I was halted on the spot.
Instead of fear, anger-filled me and I clicked my tongue, “Well, well, well, what do we have here? My enemy, right in front of me, decided to show up.”
