Chapter 44 Fowlers

He pushed away my hand from his neck and pulled off his face as if it were a mask and revealed himself.
I gawked at the sight, watching as his evil smirk played on his lips.
“Hello, Kamilah, missed me?”
The elder, Druscilla, greeted me and I was halted on the spot.
Instead of fear, anger-filled me and I clicked my tongue, “Well, well, well, what do we have here? My enemy, right in front of me, decided to show up.”
Guess I don’t have to chase him all the way. He made it easier for me to kill him.
“I have to say you were keen so much and know Gusev very well. You tested me a lot and ruined my surprise. You should have stayed quiet until we reached your pack.” He said, “but it was nice walking with you.”
“Where did you put Gusev?” I calmly asked.
“Don’t worry, he’s in good shape now.”
He paused, pacing around me. I waited for the perfect timing to launch at him, knowing I have the upper hand here. He’s old enough that his abilities had weakened and I know that he only relies on his subordinates now.

“Yes, can’t wait to kill you. You made it easier for me to find you.” I retorted, which he replied with a smirk.
He shook his head, his hands putting on my lips to silence me, “I have to say that gift you gave me brought tears to my eyes. You killed my only child. I was heartbroken.” He then paused, his eyes glaring at me, “Since I’m very much a kind creature, I have to return your favor. I have a present for you too.”
Whistling, I stayed alert as I heard the bushes shaking until a few creatures appeared.
It wasn’t another of his werewolf subordinates, or vampires, or even mages.
Instead, what stood before us were humans.
Not just any humans but the Human hunters that we call “Fowlers”.
I gritted my teeth at Druscilla. It’s not that humans are tough, It’s just they are persistent in sending backups, tricks, and traps laid everywhere to our advantage.
They kill any creature they find, from mermaids, witches, vampires, and others of our clans. Even worse, they sell us to other humans with high bidding in an auction. They are that greedy.

They were wearing various human weapons from high tec guns, bows, and arrows, swords, daggers, and even bombs that contain a special type of liquid enough to rule us out.
Druscilla then caressed my cheek and walked away, “I hope you enjoy it! See you soon!” He waved at me, and winked, “That is….if you survive.”
Now left alone, the fowlers snickered at me, “Looks like you’re alone now…” Said a man with a strange hat.
A girl with a lollipop grabbed her gun and pointed at me, “Shall we start then?”
“Wait, let me talk to her first.” Said another guy, “She looks pretty for a dog.”
I gritted my teeth, listening to our conversation. A dog? Leave it to some bad humans who feel the need to insult our kind. our minds could not even ponder what I could do next.
One of the men in his 20’s started to approach me, “You’re the very first female alpha, right?”
I stayed still, growling at them, deciding when to attack as he continued on his comments, “We’ll get plenty of sum here.”
I saw them dropping a big cage, intent on catching me.
The man then pointed at the scar on my face, “I see you must have experienced a lot.”
Before his filthy hands could even get near my face, I instantly gripped it hard and bend it over, making him yelp in pain.

“Get your hands off of me!” Said the man, groaning in pain and I snapped his arm, making him yell and drop to the ground. He tried to walk away from me but I held him hostage.

“That was unnecessary. Just go with us so we don’t have to hurt each other,” Said the old man with a hat, somehow sensing it was our leader.
‘No, you leave,” I growled, threatening them all. “Or I’ll kill him,”
our leader sighed and stopped his subordinates, “Back off, she’s a high caliber!”
I instantly get to each of them, breaking off our bones and throwing all our equipment. The girl had managed to pierce a bullet on my stomach and blood poured out me.
“Don’t fire at her!” hissed our leader irritatedly, “We need her in full health to gain a higher price!”
But my adrenaline kept me going and I grabbed our leader's arm, wanting to cut each limb but he was quick and pushed me away.
Just then, he grabbed a tin can and opened it, and a green smoke suddenly filled the air, engulfing the area.
I instantly prevented myself from breathing, keeping my senses clear as I know whatever the hell did that can had was made to harm me.
However, as much as I prevented myself from breathing it. It was all useless as the moment it had contacted my skin, I could no longer see clearly, my mind hazy and I feel dizzy. All of my senses faded…my sense of sight, smell, and hearing.
But I could see them a bit as they covered our faces with a mask, grabbed the big cage they had, and walked over to me.
“Sleep well, Alpha Queen.” Said the leader as he grabbed my body. I attempted to fight, managing to break his nose but they were quick to put chains on me. They even placed a big metal necklace on my neck and I winced, feeling it scraping the skin around my neck.
“Try to escape and this necklace will cut your head off.” He whispered, and I felt my body being dragged inside the cage.
I tried to fight back and gain my senses, but it sting my eyes so much that all I could see now was darkness.
No…it blinded me. That gas was a poison they invented to weaken a werewolf's sense. Dammit.
These fowlers were trained enough in dealing with us supernaturals with all our types of equipment, knowing everything.
That damn Druscilla, he must have spilled everything about us werewolves, betraying us in hiding our identity.
He was so keen on destroying my existence that he was willing to make these filthy Fowlers become his ally.
I howled, groaning and struggling inside the cage as I felt it moving. They had put me in the back of the car, and I was feeling sleepy but I fought it back, memorizing each turn they took.
I’ll have to stay still and regain my energy to escape.
