Chapter 45 Poison, Gases, and Experiments

That damn Druscilla, he must have spilled everything about us werewolves, betraying us in hiding our identity.
He was so keen on destroying my existence that he was willing to make these filthy Fowlers become his ally.
I howled, groaning and struggling inside the cage as I felt it moving. They had put me in the back of a car, and I was feeling sleepy but I fought it back, memorizing each turn they took.
I’ll have to stay still and regain my energy to escape.
With each second, the poison gas only overtook me, worsening my condition that I couldn’t even see anything besides darkness.
I counted each second in my head, and they finally stopped the car for around thirty minutes. I’m guessing we must have reached the outskirts of the town.
They slowly grabbed my cage and put me on a cart to deliver inside.
“Slowly, please. Make sure not to even graze her! Her value decreases in each wound!’ I could barely hear the leader saying but I forced myself to make out our words.
“Slowly, please. Make sure not to even graze her! Her value decreases in each wound!’ I could barely hear the leader saying but I forced myself to make out our words.
I felt a door opening and I could feel them unloading me into the room before locking the door after them.
I stayed still, trying to regain my senses but still no.
“So they also got you?” I heard a man speaking from the other side of the room.
I went into the sound and rested my back on the wall. “Who’s there?”
I could feel the man sniffing the air and chains rattling, “So you’re a werewolf too.”
He must be one of our captured too. These damn fowlers.
“How long have you been here?” I asked, trying to get information. I put my hand on the wall and felt everything for any clue since I couldn’t even see now.
“A year ago…they got me from Europe.” He answered.
So he’s part of the Lycan King’s territory. But then it hit me…the voice, ‘it’s strangely familiar. He had a feint British accent but I know this voice in the back of my mind. No, it has to be someone I know. His name is in the back of my mind but my brain knows it.
“Owen?” I called out and instantly, I felt the chains rattling as if he neared the wall.
“Kamilah?” He responded and I can’t help but chuckle. “Wow, what a small world.”
He laughed, his same damn laugh from 150 years ago, “No matter where I go, we really met, huh?” He then cleared his throat, “I advise you to stay still though, the poison gas they put had a toxic substance for us werewolves.”
“How could they develop that?” I asked. Humans are smart creatures, but I still can’t process how exactly did they have an idea that we are somehow weak to a certain substance?
“How could they develop that?” I asked. Humans are smart creatures, but I still can’t process how exactly did they have an idea that we are somehow weak to a certain substance?
“Though me. They did experiments on me the whole time. There were some more werewolves here but they got so much substance that our body failed…it’s only me who’s alive here now.” He explained and I shuddered at that. His voice had somehow become a bit raspy and sounded weak now…the human experiments musta have really taken a toll on him.
I scoffed, “So they will do that to me too?”
“I don’t feel that…you’re a rare breed. They know your value so they will sell you to the auction.”
Silence fell, and I gulped, I have to somehow recover from this poison and think of a plan soon. “When?”
“Tonight.”
I breathed deeply, “I’ll escape us both here. I’ll-”
“You can’t.” He interjected.  “Not unless you want to get your head blown off with that thing in our necks.”
“How did you know it will?”
“Because I watched a friend of mine get it while attempting to escape.” He said panic and fear were in his voice, “I guess this will be our fate now. We have to accept it.”
“No, Gusev and Alpha Magnus will find me” I firmly said and he chuckled, “How can you be so sure?”
I stopped. Alpha Magnus is busy dealing with the trouble in his pack. If he…truly values me…he will. I know it. He will come to me.
The Owen I know is someone who never gives up easily and hearing him say that now, the experiences he had here must have really broken his soul.
Footsteps suddenly arrived and a nasty voice asked, this is the leader of the Fowlers, “How are you doing there fellas?” He asked, mocking us, “Werewolf bonding, eh?”
I hit the door and he clicked his tongue. There was a sound of metal grazing against the cold hard floor. “I know you hate us, but you need to cooperate with us, dear.” He then continued, “I apologize for having to dull your senses, it’s for your own good.”

Saying that he then left after not getting a reply from me.
“Eat that, you need it for late,” Owen spoke up after a while.
I shook my head, trying to sniff it but couldn’t. Stupid senses not working now. “It may have poison.”
“Better than you starve to death.” He said. Being the prideful she-wolf, I chose not to eat and just stared at a wall blankly, my mind racing with how to escape this hell of a place.
What bothered me the most was the chains attached to my hand and the stupid metal necklace on my neck. I yelped in pain feeling the cold metal scrape against my small hands that have open wounds now.
Silence fell when it was only my now. I felt my hands regaining a bit of strength now so I instantly looked around and tried to break free from my chains but no luck.
I didn’t even know how many minutes passed with me, doing nothing but waiting for me to get sold in the auction. Since it will be tonight, it might only be three hours left now. Any moment, someone would come to me and direct me to the auction. That will be the perfect time for me.
By now, my senses have improved a bit and I could now see a little, just a bit blurry.
Just then, another person came and grabbed me from the room, directing me to another room to see a very attractive woman.
She has shiny blonde hair that reached her shoulders and striking blue eyes as the beautiful woman stared at me with a fierce gaze, almost studying my whole being.
“So? What do you think? We hit a jackpot, right?” I heard the leader from the Fowlers team ask excitedly.
“Just stay still, werewolf woman. Your body is numb right now. We’ll treat you later but you have to endure for now.” He said, trying to calm me down but I gave him an icy stare that made him shut up.
The girl with a lollipop emerged from beside,” She’s fiercely strong, she even broke our arms!” she said proudly, squealing.

The younger man appeared too and snorted, “But that beauty is such a waste tho, if only she were a human, I would have asked her to be my girlfriend.”
The girl just shook her head, “Yeah, you and your playboy skills. You never pass any woman in every creature,” She then looked at me, “I wonder what’s her fur color when she shapeshifts?”
She then approached me, “Blue? Black? Brown? Oh, and can we experiment on her first?”
