Chapter 48 A rare chance

“Let’s go.” Alpha Magnus said, still carrying me.
I suddenly stopped, remembering something. Seems that I forgot something.
Oh yeah….Gusev….I wonder where he is?
As soon as we got back to Alpha Magnus's pack, Dimitri immediately called the pack doctor to get Owen treated. Owen was hesitating and I couldn’t even blame him as he once left this pack stands on himself.
As for Alpha Magnus, he took Zefren here in his pack to cure me of the poison. They took me to the packhouse, and to Alpha Magnus's house.
“You’re lucky you’re still alive. One more day and you would have been dead already.” Zefren commented, making me drink the brewed tea.
Alpha Magnus’s tested at that, clenching his jaw but staying quiet as he watched me drink it.
“It would take more than just a mere poison to kill me,” I said proudly, slowly gaining my senses. “I have to go to my pack now-”
Alpha Magnus instantly stood by my side protectively, seemingly not agreeing to my wants, “You can’t do that. You need to rest first.”
Alpha Magnus instantly stood by my side protectively, seemingly not agreeing to my wants, “You can’t do that. You need to rest first.”
Zefren excused himself, giving us some privacy.
I rolled my eyes, “I’m fine now.”
“If you’re still worried about them, I already settled everything. I made sure Druscilla won’t bother them.”
Despite what he said, trying to reassure me, it only made me overthink more. “No, I have to see them.”
“I’ll video call Louisa later for you then.” He offered.
I nodded, giving it up, “Fine. fine, I’ll rest.”
“Promise? You won’t escape again?” He asked, making sure I won’t do it again…fully knowing my stubborn self. I just stayed silent, not wanting to make promises.
I suddenly thought of Gusev, “What about your best friend?” I asked.
Magnus bit his lips, “I couldn’t contact him, so I’m guessing Druscilla took him.” He said, “He did not watch over you, so I’m not going to go after him, he needs to have a lesson.”
I blinked, remembering how Druscilla tried to copy him last time, “That time when Gusev gave in to my request, Druscilla attempted to copy him. Thank goodness I caught early on.”
Magnus nodded, gazing at my eyes as he listened intently to me. He leaned in, “He had gathered more troops to fight you. He even used the humans this time.”
I scoffed, “Seems to me he’s just getting desperate and intimated by me, knowing I only have my pack…and now…you.”
Alpha Magnus blinked, surprised a bit, his dark eyes turning red, “So you're saying you’re fully accepting me as your ally now, right?”
I sighed, “Of course, I sacrificed everything, and even accepted your help. Why would I even back down now?”
A smirk suddenly played on his lips, “I knew you would eventually…thank you…for trusting me.” His hands reached for my own and he kissed the back of it, “I won’t fail you.”
And with that, he smiled at me, “Then I’ll let you on your own so you can rest. If you need anything, call Dimitri. But if you want, you can call ring the bell, and I’ll go to you.” He reminded me, “I’m just the next door.”
I nodded, letting myself relax as I heard the door closing. I settled deeply in the soft mattress, breathing in the familiar comforting scent that I could feel from Alpha Magnus.

And my days passed by with Dimitri delivering my food and offering some company to me and Zefren checking up on me once in a while.
Alpha Magnus stopped by and gave me a phone to contact Louisa.
“You can use this.” He said meekly before leaving the phone on the table and leaving me alone.
Video calling them through an app, I saw how my pack had missed me.
And I miss them so much.
Nothing has changed for them, instead, they looked happier now. “Alpha Magnus has done a lot of things to us!” She exclaimed happily, “So when are you going to accept him as your mate and come back here?”
“Louisa…” Warned Almiro behind her.
Louisa just giggled, “What? Your mate had been so considerate to us that he protected us from Druscilla, and gave us food every day here, ahh, what a bliss!”
I scoffed at her, “Don’t get too used to those gifts, and don’t be too dependent on him.”
She gave me a look, “Hmm are you sure we’re the ones who are too dependent on him? Who’s the one who’s at his pack now? Hmmm?”
Clicking my tongue, I replied sassily, “I got in trouble because of wanting to check up on you, show some respect to your alpha, Louisa.”
“Alright, alright.”
We exchanged a few updates on our life, how Louisa was still being courted by Dimitri and Almiro’s training with Alpha Magnus men, wanting to get stronger, and some of my pack members falling for Alpha Magnus men.
But anyway, I'm just glad to see them well and happy. That’s what all matters to me now. At least I could rest easy now. I ended the call and stared blankly at the wall.
I wanted to visit Owen as we didn’t have a proper talk last time in the Fowler’s building since the events that happened.
When Dimitri came to give me my usual meal, I instantly dropped y question, “How is Owen?”
“Recovering. Looks like his body received major trauma, physically and emotionally. He doesn’t want to talk to anyone now. Not even to Alpha Magnus.”
“Recovering. Looks like his body received major trauma, physically and emotionally. He doesn’t want to talk to anyone now. Not even to Alpha Magnus.”
I nodded, understanding his side. The experiments those humans did on him really affected him so much. It's just sad to see how the once lively, dependable, and trustworthy Owen has changed into this…new personality. But I have to be considerate enough and not judge him.
“When he’s ready, please take me to him,” I said and he nodded. “Sure, but you’ll have to quickly recover, or our Alpha might go nuts.”
I arched my eyebrow at him, “Alpha Magnus? Why?”
He looked around and instantly leaned in to whisper, “Don’t tell him that I told you, but he’s been asking updates to me about you every second…what you’re doing, what you’re eating..he couldn’t concentrate that he don’t even attend those meetings and the papers. I’m the one who does everything now.”
I chuckled at his complaints,” Then quit being his beta.”
He scoffed, “I wish it was that easy…if it was, then I’m enjoying my life a long time ago.”
I patted his back, “Don’t worry, Dimitri, don’t you have your new source of happiness now?”
He blinked, confused.
I gave him a look, “How’s Luisa?”
He immediately turned meek and stuttered, his cheeks flushing, “W-what?”
“Louisa…aren’t you interested in her?”
He rubbed the back of his neck, “She’s interesting, but why are we talking about her now?”
“Why? I want to know what is happening between you two.” I said, diving in further.
“Well…she’s feisty and hates me, just unusual for me.” He admitted, now in a trance.
“If only you know,” I mumbled and his ears perked.
“What know? Come on tell me. You’re keeping secrets from me, I thought we were best friends?”
I playfully stuck my tongue out at him, “I never told you you’re my best friend. It’s between me and her so you’ll have to work harder and pursue her.”
He just chuckled and shook his head, “Alright, enough about me…I have to go and do something so see you later.”
“Wait, I’m craving some ice cream.” I said, “Can you get me Chocolate flavored?”
He nodded, listening to my requests, “I’ll be right back with it.”
He then returned with vanilla ice cream in hand.  I gave him a look, “You didn’t get a chocolate one?”
Dimitri shrugged, “I just stole that from Alpha Magnus’s freezer. That’s the only flavor there.”
Leaving me now, I stared at the window to see the night is now entering. I just nodded, letting him off the hook as he made effort in giving this to me. Plus its night so if he’ll go to town, the shops might have closed now. I returned the ice cream to the table after a few scoops, still wanting it to be chocolate flavored.
Despite what Dimitri said, Alpha Magnus didn’t visit me now as usual…except for giving me the phone coldly…this makes me wonder what happened…

Standing up, I quickly ring the bell. The door opened, and I saw Alpha Magnus’s panicked face. “You called for me?”
I nodded, “Yes, I did…you didn’t visit me today….why?”
His usual gaze at me felt different. He was avoiding my eyes, as if hiding something, “I have some other business.”
I gave him a look, “Much more important than me? Or are you getting tired of taking care and pursuing me?”
“No, it’s just-”
“Alright, you’re avoiding me,” I interjected, which made his head turn and he grabbed my hand.
“I would never, Kamilah. Never…it’s just tonight is…full moon.” He said with so much intensity, his warm hand gliding over me.
“And? What if it’s a full moon?” I asked further, still looking at him and forcing him to gaze at me. Is he keeping a secret from me? But I don’t know, something from him now looks….sexy. I gulped, feeling intoxicated and the thing between my inner thighs heating up…
He gulped, his eyes trailing to my eyes and to my lips, “So Dimitri must have never told you…”
“Tell me what?”
“This.” In a flash, his soft lips came crashing down on me. I was taken aback, feeling sparks whenever our hands touched, but I let him for a minute and he stopped to whisper in my ears,  “I couldn’t control my vampire instincts every full moon. and your blood is so…tempting.”
His eyes looked at me, waiting for my reaction. Expecting me to hit him, but I looked him in the eyes, burying his soul, and kissed him back.
He groaned, and I could feel his groin. He must be battling his inner demons now. He was acting as if he wanted to push me, but his hands and lips were completely attached to me. He let out a moan and mouthed my name breathlessly, “Kamilah.”
I rested my hands on his shoulders, grabbing his soft hair and calling back. “Magnus.”
Hearing me call his name seemed to excite his member even more. I could feel it throbbing. His eyes looked at me with a heavy expression, he looked intoxicated, pale, and cold.
I bit my lip, staring at him, “Magnus, F*ck me.”
