Chapter 41: You and Me Under the Moon

Author's POV
...
10:00 PM
It's been five days. Five freaking days and he spent all of those days with boredom clinging on his hip. Everyone went on vacation. His hyungs was still on their own vacation. Minjo's at Gwacheon visiting his strawberry farm there. Hoseok's at his hometown which is Gwangju, attending some important matters with his parents. Ryu's at Daegu together with Sunoo, attending his cousin's birthday. While here he is, sitting at the stool of the bar with a drink on his hand. He's trying to distract himself. These past few days was a disaster.
The argument with his father got even worse. His father still trying to convince him to get married. They're all in a vacation trip. His father, Mrs Hyun and his sister Ari are currently in France. He hate his father much that he refuse to go with them and just decided stay in Korea. His hyung did invite him to join at their vacation but he wanted to be alone in their house. To have his 'MeTime' he called and the hyungs let him. They understand his feelings. As much as they want to stay with him and comfort him until he feels find, they know once Sunghoon tells them he needs a time alone to himself it wouldn't be changed. So they let him stay at the house.
He's having a hard time and he doesn't know how to cool up his mind, to make himself feel better and to let out his steams. Having no one in the house to talk with, he thought of calling you but the idea of him just might disturb you immediately popped into his head. He would be just a bother to you. So he just choose to keep it to himself and besides he could tell that you're busy. Because everytime you two send each other messages it would always be a casual 'Good morning' or 'Hope you're having a good day.'
He admit, days without seeing you was hell frustrating. If only he knew what place did you go to, he would definitely follow you there just to see you. He still doesn't have an idea what you're going through right now. That night when you got drunk still fresh in his mind and the message you had received that night still bothering him mind.
Does it have to do with your sudden leave to...somewhere?
Damn he wants to know if you're alright.
The feeling of the iced rum on his hand made him soon realized what his purpose being at the bar. Right. He's here to enjoy himself, to forget his problems by getting himself drunk. He already drank 16 shots of rum.
"So, how's life?"
His head snapped towards the owner of the voice. He almost didn't heard it due to the loud music playing inside the bar. It was the last person he's expecting to see. Park Yeonsa.
God, can he have a full time to himself without having an irritating bitch following him wherever he goes?
"Stop following me." Blurting out with a cold gaze, he drank his last shot of rum and put a cash on the counter before he stride away.
"I didn't. Trust me. Maybe it's destiny." She even dared to catch up with him even though it's obviously clear he doesn't have any interest with her. How shameless is this girl?
"No it's bullshit." He spat at her that left her speechless in the middle of the bar.
He was thankful he made his way outside without her following him. But no, it's a prank.
"Yah! Can you be just nice to me even once?" He rolls his eyes away in annoyance when he heard her voice again. She run to catch up on him again and when she did, she grabbed him on his wrist, stopping him.
"Why would I? I would only be nice if a person deserves it. With you? I'm just mirroring you." He threw up his hands in the air, shaking his head and this made her scowl at him.
"I'm going to be your wife soon, so you better start to treat me right, Kim Sunghoon!" She started shouting as she push her index finger aggressively on his chest and he swatted it away.
"Marry you my ass. Over my dead body." He stated, turning around to leave but she wouldn't let him. She grabbed him by the collar. "What the--" his words was being cut off by her lips on his and this made him shot his eyes wide open before pushing her away from him and she stubbornly shake her head no. Looking so determinate to take such action. "Stop!" He yell at her but she's unfazed.
Can someone get this woman off from him?!
And the god hears his prayer.
"He said stop you onion!"
Both him and Yeonsa's head snapped towards the voice. He couldn't believe it. Is it possible? How come you're standing there eyeing Yeonsa angrily with your hands resting on both side of your hips when you're supposed to be still in vacation? You looked so done and seem on the verge to explode in a minute. This is insane. You can't be here. Maybe this is because of the alcohol.
"Yuna?" He call out your name in disbelief and it proves him that it's really you when you turn your gaze at him.
"Oh, of course!" Yeonsa exclaim sarcastically. "This b*tch has to appear in this conversation." She spat and that caused you to shoot her a glare. "This is not your business, Nerd! So f*cking leave us alone." She yelled at you and that just pressed your button. Oh well, she's done for that. You thought walking towards them.
"No! You leave us alone." You yelled  back, grabbing Sunghoon's arm as you pull him away from her. You know you don't have the rights to intervene at their conversation. Yes, you heard everything. You heard her too when she said that she's going to be his wife and it's not that difficult for you to understand the situation.
She's the one whom his father settled for him to marry.
You know you shouldn't get in between. But Sunghoon is your friend. You can't just stand there and see him struggling to get off from her in his drunk state.
"Give him back!" She reach out for his arm but you pull him away from her more with a slight force that almost caused him to lost his balance due to his drunk state.
"Hell no!" You yelled before you turn around and pull him along with you.
"Hey!" Yeonsa yelled catching up on you and before her hand could grab you by the hair, you shut her up with a surprising slap on her face.
She touch her cheek as she looked at you with a shock face and you just coldly eyed her up and down.
This isn't enough for what she had done to me.
With a last glance, you walked away to Sunghoon's car and you're glad she didn't run after you this time.
"Yuna...?" Sunghoon looked at you. "How.." he slurred, supporting himself  by leaning on the side of his car.
"Give me your key. I'll drive." You ask for his key instead of answering his question and he stare at you in a way you couldn't describe. But you could see some hints of confusion in his eyes. What is he thinking? "Don't give me that look, Hoon. I know how to do it." You tell him if ever this is what he's wondering about and a surprising drunk grin appears on his lips.
"I would be glad to die as long as it would be you I'll happen to die with." He says, giving you his carkey and you roll your eyes at him before opening up the door of his car.
"Shut up and just get inside." You push him inside his car and when you  reach for his seatbelt he started whining like a kid, swatting your hands away. "Put your seatbelt on, idiot." You scold him and he stop right away, looking at you with wide eyes like a kid. You took the chance to put his seatbelt on before you jog around the front of the car as you get on the driver's seat.
"Are you going to take me home?" He slurred, fully leaning his back on the seat with his eyes closed.
"I'm not." You tell him and this made him opens his one eye, looking at your way through his eyelash.
"What?" He groans. "Where to then?"
"Just shut up." You shushed him, you fixing your gaze on the road as you started driving. You're not expecting this. You're not expecting to see him tonight, to drive using his car and especially getting in between them with Yeonsa. You're supposed to be still in Gangwon-Do but here you are, saving him a from that girl.
"Okay, mom. God..why are you so hotheaded tonight?" He giggles,  "When did you came back?" He added and you gulp down a sudden lump that forms in your throat.
"Just tonight." You tell him. The car fell into silence after that. Yes, you just came back tonight.  This is because of Minjo. He had called you this morning and he told you about Sunghoon having a hard time these past few days until now. Minjo asked you a favor to look after him while he's at vacation and you couldn't reject it. So, you came back tonight  and looked for Sunghoon. Finding him using the GPS tracker on your phone and that's why you found him there at the bar.
Silence keep on filling the car, you took a glance at the drunk guy beside you. He's fully resting his body on the seat while his head tilted towards the window. He's quitely looking outside with half-closed eyes and you're glad that he stays like that instead of talking gibberish.
By the time you arrive at your destination, Sunghoon was already asleep.
"Hoon, wake up." You shake him on his shoulder, repeating it three times before he finally jolts awake.
"What..." He murmured dumbfoundedly with his slight raspy voice from sleeping. He flutter his eyes open, scratching it a little with the back of his hand. When fully get on his sense, that's the time the smell of the sea hits his nostril, the sound of the waves resounding in his ears. "Why are we here?" He asks, looking around the empty beach before his gaze goes back to you.
"Are you sober now?" You eyed him, observing his face and he looked down to his lap before rubbing his palms all over his face.
"Yeah, a little. I guess?" He yawns, chuckling after. He may didn't ask you why did you bring him here but you could see the confusion in his eyes.
Well, why did you?
It's been five days without seeing each other and having a proper conversation. Those days you're out there in Gangwon-Do was a mess. If it wasn't your cousin who's always there cheering you up, you would probably be breaking out for the entire five days.
"Come. Let's take a walk." You sigh, unbuckling your seatbelt.
"What?" He asks, failing to catch your words due to the loud sound of the waves at night. You're already rounding up the car when he did asked you.
You made your way to him, opening his door and before he could utter a word, you're already leaning a bit closer at him as you reach for his seatbelt, removing it in one snap. You then take his hand in yours, pulling him along with you as you walked near the seaside.
Stopping on your track when you think you're close enough, you stare at the horizon of the sea after letting his hand go.
"It's been a long time..." You breathe out before turning your gaze back to him who's staring down at you with those gaze you've secretly missed for the past five days.
"Where were you?" He asks and that made you smile sadly as you looked away.
"Gangwon-Do. Nothing serious, just some family matters." You simply tell him. Was it really not that serious? Or you just don't want to tell him? Was it related to the message you received that night? You're hiding something from him and he could feel it. "So, you're going to marry that girl, huh?" You chuckle in a teasing way, immediately changing the topic and you mentioning about it caused him to roll away his eyes in annoyance that made you throw back your head as you laugh.
"Oh c'mon, give me a break." He whine, sitting down on the sand and you mirrors his action, joining him as you sit next to him. You both wear off your shoes.
"I know I said to you that I wouldn't going to feel this while I'm at Gangwon-Do but...I missed you." You trailed of at your last words, shaking your head in disbelief. You couldn't believe you just confessed that you missed this guy beside you.
Where did you get the guts? You couldn't believe at yourself. Maybe being away from him for five days made you collect some guts without knowing.
Upon hearing those words from you, a smug smirk appears on his face that totally screams 'I knew it' and you saw the moment you turn your head at him. "Don't look so smug like that!" You groan, slapping his arm and he lets himself budge a little as he laugh.
"I knew you will." He proudly stated, having fun with looking at your face that have just twist into a scowl. He missed this. It's been a long time since he last have teased you.
But your scowl was soon replaced by a smile in defeat. "Okay, fine. Is it wrong to miss a friend?" You try to use an excuse as you held up your hands slightly in the air as you tried to make a point here but he's not having it.
"Of course not." He comments, chuckling as he saw how you hide your flustered face by looking away. "It's not a crime to tell someone that you miss them." He added, nudging your arms playfully.
"Ish!" You groan before taking him by surprise by throwing a fistful of sand to his shirt. "Take that!" You laugh as you run away, leaving him there looking stunned with mouth agape as he looked at you in disbelief.
"Yah!" He finally snapped out of it when you're three meters away from him, still laughing. "I'm gonna get you!" He stood up, sprinting towards you and you let out a loud squeal as you started running away for your dear life.
The empty and lonely beach was now filled with your giggles and voices as the two of you running barefoot playing chase, in the middle of the night under the bright full moon and thousands of stars, shining down at the two of you.
"Gotcha!" He exclaims in victory when he finally catched you. A loud squeal slips from you as you're being lifted up from the sand by a pair of masculine arms wrapped on your waist. You felt your heart explode in the pit of happiness. After five days of being pressured by your problem, you finally get to smile and laugh so hard again like this, with him.
"Okay, you got me! Now put me down." You patted his arms, giggling but Sunghoon didn't stop there and taking you more surprise as he carry you in a bridal style in one swift motion. "Aack!" Your arms automatically wrapped around his neck and you could feel how his chest vibrates when he laugh.
Your eyes widen when you see he's getting nearer and nearer to the sea until it touched his feet. What is he going to do?! You panic. "Sunghoon! No, no, no!" You bury your face on his chest as you cling on tight to him. You're afraid he might throw you to the cold sea. You don't want to go home soaking wet.
"Relax. I'm not going to drop you." You heard him softly assures and when you pull away your head from his chest, you're met by a warm smile from as he looked down at you with fondness dancing in his eyes--no, maybe you just misinterpret that. You're just friends. Nothing more, nothing less. You try to convince your mind with that. "I missed you, too."
You're being snapped out of your thoughts. No, not him saying those words to you when here you are trying to convince yourself that his sweet gestures didn't mean anything else but just a friend.
You closed your eyes as you try to convince yourself more but luck was not on your side tonight. You felt his forehead touched yours and that made your breathe stuck in your throat. Your eyes flutters open at the feeling of it and there your eyes see him leaning his head on yours with his eyes as if he's saviouring this moment as long as he could. The way he tighten his hold on you made it more obvious.
This moment, this sight you're seeing and this feeling you're having right now...you just want to cry. Why? Your heart wants to ask him, everything. But what's stopping you? You thought even though you already know the answer. You gulp the sudden lump forming on your throat as you close your eyes again, trying to saviour this moment too. Damn, this just felt so right. You slowly inhale a deep breathe.
"Yuna?" He softly calls and you just hum, your hand that was on his neck plays with his soft locks that made him internally sigh in contentment. "Yuna..." He says your name again and you hum for the second time. "Yuna..." He repeats and this made you open your eyes as you eyed him, confusedly scanning his face. He's smiling, eyes still closed.
"Why do you keep on calling my name?" You ask with an amused smile and this made him finally opens his eyes.
He shakes his head, chuckling. "I just, I just wanted to know that you're real. That I'm...really carrying you right now in my arms." He tells you, voice deep and you can feel the happiness and nervous laced on it. Why does it sounds like as if he's scared you'll be gone again the moment he let you go or tear his eyes away from you. His darken eyes just made you feel a heat going up to your face. You're pretty sure your cheeks are red by now.
"I'm real, Hoon. What makes you think I'm not?" You awkwardly laugh, trying to ease up the tension but Sunghoon isn't having it.
"I want to ask you something."
